Windows 11 fix promises to fix taskbar bugs –

Microsoft has been working to fix the many glitches, bugs and controversies surrounding its Windows 11 taskbar. The latest build, still unavailable to users, seems to have heeded fans’ pleas to bring improvements in an attempt to deliver an experience. most enjoyable for everyone.

In addition to the controversial design, with the icons centered, the redesign brought with it limitations that didn’t exist before. An example is the impossibility of moving the bar to another position as it always happened in previous versions of Windows — many people liked to use it on the side or at the top of the screen.

Fortunately, it is now possible to have some level of customization, such as choosing whether to see the icons centered or aligned to the left, in addition to being able to check the option to automatically hide when not in use. You can also configure the default buttons displayed (Search, Tasks View, Widgets and Chat) and some other details.

Windows 11 Taskbar Crashes and Errors

On the other hand, the Windows 11 taskbar is apparently based on modern XAML code and uses WinUI controls. This means it was written from scratch and doesn’t support time-honored features like drag and drop.

This rebuild generated a dozen known bugs that hinder usability, such as:

  • The bar flashes when the user switches input methods.
  • Thumbnail windows of taskbar tools (displayed as pop-ups that appear when hovering over items) may be shown in an entirely different location than expected.
  • Taskbar ToolTips do not appear when hovering over taskbar corner icons very quickly.
  • Tool names can also be placed on top of each other when hovering over the icons with the mouse.

There are some other glitches related to using the system on notebooks. The battery level, located on the taskbar, sometimes shows a percentage above 100%. According to the company, this last error should be fixed in Build 22523.

drag and drop must come back

One of the most missed absences is definitely the lack of drag and drop. It is very useful for changing folder files quickly or if you want to play a video with a specific program instead of using the standard Windows one. It is also not possible to create shortcuts on the bar from this drag-and-drop feature.

However, this new feature may return in a future update. Nothing has been officially announced, but rumors point to a drag-and-drop resurrection from Windows 11 22H2, slated for October next year.

Windows 11 Build 22523 — and the taskbar fixes — was just released to testers on the Dev Channel and will be the last update of 2021. There’s no forecast when the update will reach the rest of us broadly.
