Milan decides not to separate lawsuit and will judge ex-prime minister Berlusconi in September –

The Milan Court ruled on Wednesday (26) not to temporarily dismember the case against former Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi in the context of the “Ruby ter” case.

The request for separation had been made both by the defense and by the prosecution so as not to delay the sentences of the others accused, who total 28 people, since the former prime minister is facing “serious health problems”. However, as the parties ended up going back on the request, the session was held until September 8.

The judges reported that “all parties agree on the existence of a legitimate impediment due to health reasons” for the accused and that this problem is “estimated as temporary and lasting no less than 90 days”.

The process is in an advanced stage of analysis, with only two statements from the prosecution, examination of the accused and the defense response lacking.

“Physical pluripathology does not show the possibility of recovery, because they are chronic, as they have been described. The pathologies, which I must express that one is psychological and the others are psychiatric-neurological, give a picture that deserves attention”, said the attorney Tiziana Siciliano , who leads the charge.

Siciliano also asked for a clinical examination to be carried out in order to analyze “the capacity of the accused in the debate”. This is because the former prime minister’s defender, Federico Ceccone, said that Berlusconi’s current state of health “prevents a dignified presence in the hearings”.

In Milan, Berlusconi is accused of corruption in judicial acts in the famous “Ruby” case, which is in its third break up.

This time, and in lawsuits taking place in other Italian cities like Siena and Rome, the former prime minister is investigated for having paid witnesses to lie and omit information about the famous orgies at his mansions in the court depositions.

The politician is currently in “absolute rest” at his home after leaving a Milan hospital on May 15.

This was Berlusconi’s fifth hospitalization of the year and the defense says he is facing problems caused by Covid-19 – which the former prime minister contracted last year.
