Fire Destroys Makola No 2 Market (VIDEO)

Tens of stalls were destroyed when fire gutted the Makola No 2 market close to Agbogbloshie in Accra.The raging fire had destroyed virtually the whole market.The fire, reported to have started around 20:00 GMT on Tuesday, spread wildly through the market destroying goods worth millions of Ghana cedis. Fresh Northern Clashes: One Dead, 5 Houses Torched

At least one person has been killed and five houses torched early Thursday morning, May 2, 2013 in Nankpanduri in the Northern region in a fresh intra-ethnic conflict which flared up suddenly.The conflict, according to XYZ News’ Northern regional Correspondent Kizito Abagoami took place despite the presence of armed security personnel who were deployed to the area to forestall an escalation of the same conflict when it re-ignited two months ago.The torched houses were allegedly homes belonging to rival ethnic Bimobas.The Assemblyman for the area, Daniel Duut who also confirmed the conflict to XYZ News said ethnic Kombas joined forces with the Mamprusis in the area to attack the Bimobas.A Mamprusi man’s body has been found in the neighbourhood suspected to have been killed in the clashes.Final year Students of Nankpanduri Senior High School are caught in the middle of the conflict.Kizito Aboagoami reported that the students were accompanied by Soldiers to the school to write their papers on Thursday morning.The recurrent conflict claimed two lives two months ago.

THE TEACHING STAFF and pupils of Pokuase AMA Zion Basic School were shocked when two pupils of the school, who were reported to have had sex with three fowls, admitted and confessed to the crime.The three fowls, belonging to a resident of the area, reportedly died from the alleged acts of the pupils, whose names are being withheld. The two, according to DAILY GUIDE’s source, are seven and eight years old and said to be in Kindergarten 2 and class 2 of the school respectively.The incident reportedly happened around 2:40pm, last Friday, when school had closed and most pupils had left for their various homes...
