‘You could never count Rafael Nadal out’, says legend

As strange as it may seem, Rafael Nadal is not among the two main favorites to win Wimbledon 2022. The Spanish tennis player and his great 2022 have not been enough for bettors to trust that he can conquer a tournament that has eluded him since 2010.

Instead, and as is customary, the Serbian Novak Djokovic starts as the wide favorite to lift the crown that he just won last year. The defending champion will stand at the All England Club as the favorite among bettors. The Bookmakers put ‘Nole’ as a wide favorite to win the third Grand Slam of the season this year, paying just over twice what was invested.

The line at which he wins all seven matches at Wimbledon is -125. After Djokovic, the Italian Matteo Berrettini appears. His great performance on the grass places him with a line of 6 to 1, largely due to his nine consecutive wins that he achieved in the two stops prior to the tournament.

Only until the third place does Nadal appear. The bettors put the Majorcan with a line of 8 to 1, with everything and how well he looked in the exhibition prior to the third Grand Slam of the season. Further back, the NextGen begins to arrive, which seems to be already led by the Spanish Carlos Alcaraz, who is in fourth place on the list of favorites, followed by the Canadian Félix Auger-Aliassime, the Polish Hubert Hurkacz, the Greek Stefanos Tsitsipas and Australian Nick Kyrgios.

These are the main favorites to win this edition of Wimbledon, the first without Roger Federer in more than a decade. Who do you see as the favorite to win the third Grand Slam of the 2022 season?

Nadal is a two-time Wimbledon champion

Former World No.

1 Chris Evert praised Rafael Nadal’s ability to improve every year and said that he could win if he remains fit. “Nadal can absolutely win here if his foot holds up. He is a great grass-court player who has improved every year to shorten his swing, shorten his rallies, and he is effective at the net, winning more points than before.

You could never count him out,” Evert said. Although former World No. 4 Brad Gilbert’s first pick is six-time Wimbledon champion Novak Djokovic, he believes that Nadal could be dangerous if he gets to the second week.

“I think Djokovic is the clear favorite here. A year ago, I would’ve taken Djokovic versus the field here, but a year later, he hasn’t played as well as 2021. He is still the best player in the world on grass, but this is not a sure thing by any means.

Nadal is coming off an incredible run at the French and is halfway to the calendar Slam. If he gets through the first week, Nadal is definitely in play,” Gilbert said.
