FIRS emerges best agency at FEPSGA games |

The Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS) has emerged the best Federal Government agency with eight gold, seven bronze and nine silver medals at the 37th edition of Federation of Public Service Games (FEPSGA) held in Lokoja, Kogi State over the weekend.

The victory is the FIRS’ second in as many years. The Service also topped the medals table at the 36th edition of the games held in Bauchi last year.

Speaking on the victory, FIRS Sports President Daniel Ogbeni, said: “We have demonstrated that the FIRS staff is not just about figures. We are also physically alert. We are good sports men and women.

“We were the best in Bauchi last year. We retained being the best Sporting MDA team in 2018. Thanks to all members of our team, the supporters club and our biggest supporter, Mr. Tunde Fowler, our Executive Chairman, and the FIRS Management. We are grateful. We will do it again.”

Team FIRS has been participating actively in the games since 2007.

The 37th edition of the games held between 7 and 15 December.

The games were introduced in 1980 to promote unity and friendship among civil servants as well as enhance mental and physical well-being of the entire Federal workforce.

A total of 51 Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) participated in the meet, which had 24 games. The FIRS participated in 12, including football, basketball, handball and volleyball.
