Spanish golf gala celebrates a year to mark

he Spanish golf can boast of a year 2022 plagued with success both in the amateur and professional fields, something that has been recognized at the annual gala of the Royal Spanish Golf Federation (RFEG), held at the COE headquarters.

Among the ‘pros’, Jon Rahm’s three wins this season and Miguel Ángel Jiménez’s triplet in the senior circuit stand out.

In an act chaired by Gonzaga Escauriaza (RFEG pte), with Alejandro Blanco (COE pte) as host, the two victories of Pablo Larrazábal or the record left by Adrián Otaegui in Valderrama were also remembered.

Eugenio López-Chacarra, who attended the event to collect his award, was also honored for his meritorious first professional victory at LIV Bangkok, also being the first Spaniard to win on this circuit. In the women’s category, national golf can boast the successes of Carlota Ciganda, Ana Peláez and Fátima Fernández.

The gold medals in the Junior Women’s World Cup for Teams in Canada stood out; in the Toyota Junior World Golf Cup in Japan -in both cases at the hands of the wonder trio of Spanish golf made up of Cayetana Fernández, Andrea Revuelta and Paula Martín-; in the Women’s University World Cup -with individual gold and silver by Carla Tejedo and Carolina López-Chacarra-; in the Men’s Absolute European by Teams; and the Women’s European Mid Amateur thanks to Ane Urchegui.
