Bianca Andreescu reveals initiative she would like to work on with Novak Djokovic

Bianca Andreescu would like the men to speak more about mental health and adds she would like to have a conversation with Novak Djokovic as she has noticed the Serb often speaks about the importance of good mental health.

Last December, Andreescu announced an indefinite break from tennis to address her mental health. Andreescu, who returned to tennis in April, has been named this week as the Mental Timeout ambassador. Mental Timeout is a wellness project launched by Tennis Canada.

“I definitely think that the men’s side should have an initiative like that as well. I know that Novak Djokovic talks a lot about mental health. I have listened to a lot of his interviews. I have spoken to him a little bit but not specifically about mental health.

Hopefully I can talk to him more about it. We can bounce ideas off of each other and maybe start something, it will be cool,” Andreescu said, per Sportskeeda.

Andreescu happy to see Tennis Canada taking an initiative

Andreescu became a Grand Slam champion and broke into the top-5 very early in her career.

Andreescu achieving major success very early also had a bad side as the Canadian started putting too much pressure on herself and she would often get down on herself after failing to meet her expectations. “The struggles with mental health are part of our sport.

Tennis Canada is committed to creating a safer environment for us all. I’m so excited to be the ambassador for Tennis Canada’s mental health project. It’s time we take away the stigma around mental health and start taking action to make life easier and better on and off the court,” Andreescu added.

Meanwhile, Andreescu last played at Wimbledon, where she was beaten in the second round by eventual champion Elena Rybakina. This week, the National Bank Open released their entry list and Andreescu is set to compete in Toronto at the start of August.
