The Dallas Mavericks will be sweating on the health of Luka Doncic after the All-Star guard exited Thursday night’s game against the Phoenix Suns with an ankle injury

Doncic has been relatively durable this season, only missing five games, however, with the Mavericks in the thick of the playoff race out West, sitting at 25-24 entering tonight’s contest, they can’t afford to be without their leading man for long.

Here’s what we know about Doncic’s injury and his status with the Mavericks moving forward.

What is Luka Doncic’s injury?

Doncic exited the game early in the opening minutes and left the court following a timeout.

As he attempted to maneuver away from Cam Johnson in the post, Doncic stepped on Mikal Bridges’ foot and was immediately limping.

He made his way back to the locker room and was ruled out for the remainder of the game shortly after, diagnosed with a left ankle sprain.

Doncic, who was earlier in the night named as an All-Star starter is averaging 33.8 points, 9.1 rebounds, and 8.6 assists per game.

How long will Luka Doncic be out?

It’s unclear how long Doncic will be sidelined, but as reported by TNT’s Chris Haynes, he underwent an X-ray, which came back negative.
