I’m feeling really good, not stressed about lack of tennis

British tennis star Emma Raducanu says she is fit and ready to compete at the Australian Open. 10 days ago, Raducanu sustained an ankle injury in Auckland. Then, Raducanu and her team did everything they could to put the 20-year-old in the position to be able to compete at Melbourne Park.

“In the match, obviously, at the time, you’re a bit worried about it. When you just go over, you don’t really know what’s going on. But we’ve been working very hard. It’s been a team effort to get me to this place.

We’ve definitely expedited the process. But I’m feeling really good and looking forward to getting out on the court. It’s just a huge, huge props to my team, really here and back home, who have helped get me to this place,” Raducanu said, per Wales Online.

Raducanu ready to take on Tamara Korpatsch

At the start of this week, Raducanu was practicing but without much movement or intensity. But as the week progressed, Raducanu started increasing the intensity of her practices.

Even though Raducanu is lacking matches, she is not really too concerned about that going into her Australian Open first round. “I started practising midweek and we’ve been building it up pretty gradually. But I think that I’ve not really played much tennis ever in my career so I’m kind of used to it.

And I’m not stressed about lack of tennis that much,” Raducanu added. In the Australian Open first round, Raducanu will be taking on 74th-ranked Korpatsch. When Raducanu and Korpatsch meet, that will be the second meeting between the two.

Last year, Raducanu needed three sets to beat Korpatsch in Stuttgart. Going into their Australian Open match, Raducanu is definitely the favorite if she is feeling healthy. In 2023, Korpatsch has played two matches and has a 0-2 record. It remains to be seen how far can Raducanu go at the Australian Open.
