Nick Kyrgios thinks Bernard Tomic definitely does not deserve to be awarded an Australian Open main draw wildcard. Tomic, a former world No 17, is now the 462nd-ranked player and he was far away from making the main draw cut for the Australian Open.
This week, Tennis Australia announced six Australian players who have been awarded with a main draw wildcard. Tomic wasn’t on the list.

“Surely Tomic deserves a wildcard?” one fan’s tweet read.
Kyrgios responded to the tweet: “Hahahahaha NO HE DOESNT.”

Kyrgios is hoping to do major things at the upcoming Australian Open
After finishing as runner-up to Novak Djokovic in the Wimbledon final and also reaching the US Open quarterfinal, Kyrgios enters the 2023 season with a clear goal in his mind – he has underlined multiple times that he wants to win a Grand Slam.
Kyrgios enjoyed a career-best season in 2022 and there will be expectations on him to deliver at the Australian Open. Heading into the 2023 Australian Open, Kyrgios admits he is feeling the pressure but noted that “pressure is a privilege.”
“I always believe that pressure is a privilege. In real life, there’s not much pressure to being a professional tennis player. We earn great money, we travel around the world with our favourite people. We get to see different people, different cultures.
In the scheme of things, that’s not pressure but I completely understand going on the match court with all this expectation that ‘Nick Kyrgios is legitimate chance to win a Grand Slam now’, there’s a lot of pressure there especially having the Australian Open and everyone in Australia expecting big things from me.
It’s a lot to handle sometimes. Being in the spotlight is not easy,” Kyrgios told Eurosport. Kyrgios was visibly dejected after failing to win the US Open. In January, Kyrgios gets another chance to win his first Grand Slam title.
