Aside from the obvious disappointment of missing out on Sunday’s showpiece final, Croatia manager Zlatko Dalic has largely been free of injury concerns throughout their time in Qatar.
While Saturday’s game offers the chance to hand some of his back-up options a run-out, another strong team is expected as they look to finish third in a World Cup for the second time, having first done so in 1998.
Luka Modric – who could well be playing his last World Cup game – will almost certainly be flanked by Mateo Kovacic and Marcelo Brozovic in midfield, while the only real selection headache comes when choosing between Bruno Petkovic and Andrej Kramaric.
Morocco, meanwhile, have been decimated by injuries. Nayef Aguerd, Romain Saiss and Noussair Mazraoui were all injured during the semi-final loss to France and manager Walid Regragui has confirmed there will be changes.
“We have a lot of players injured, we’re on our last legs,” he said.
“We want to win but I also want to allow players who haven’t played to go out there and show what they can do. We’re going to try to win but I have a lot of players who need to recover.”
