Emma Raducanu says she is “very proud” of her resilience as she admitted that the 2022 season was full of adversity and challenges. Raducanu, 20, played her first full season on the WTA Tour in 2022. This year, Raducanu was often dealing with injuries and it affected her performance.
Throughout the year, Raducanu was criticized by the media for her results. Now, Raducanu admits she feels there is a lot of “stuff written that is not true.” However, she adds she is giving her best not to let that stuff negatively affect her.
Raducanu asked about her highlights of 2022
In an interview with SheerLuxe, Raducanu was asked to name the highlights of her year. “Professionally speaking, I’m very proud of my resilience this year. I’ve faced quite a bit of adversity and I’ve had to keep getting back up a lot.
So much stuff is said about me that isn’t true, but I try not to let it affect me. The past year has meant getting used to that side of things – the publicity and hearing all these things I never even knew about myself!
The attention on the tour is so intense. Personally, I love Formula One and, while I didn’t get to Silverstone this year, I did go to two races at Brands Hatch with Porsche and the final of the Carrera Cup. There, I got to do a lap in the safety car, which was a 911,” Raducanu told SheerLuxe.
Meanwhile, Raducanu recently confirmed that she plans to start the 2023 season at the ASB Classic in Auckland. In Auckland, Raducanu will be making her debut. After Auckland, Raducanu will head to Melbourne for the Australian Open.
This offseason, Raducanu has been working hard in the gym as one of her biggest goals for 2023 is to stay injury-free for a longer period. It remains to be seen how will Raducanu do in her first tournament of the year in New Zealand.
