During a recent Tennis Channel interview, Novak Djokovic described his Paris 2012 on-court appearance wearing a Darth Vader mask as being crazy. “Oh. That was myself in the crazy, young days,” Djokovic said for Tennis Channel.

Unfortunately for him, Novak Djokovic lost the match he entered with the mask on to Sam Querrey.

When Djokovic imitated Sharapova

Novak Djokovic had many funny moments on the court across his years on the ATP Tour.

Some of the most amusing had him imitating Maria Sharapova. Watch some of those moments in this article: Novak Djokovic imitated Maria Sharapova wearing a blonde wig. In a 2018 interview, Novak Djokovic praised Maria Sharapova as a tennis player and person.

“She’s a great champion”, Djokovic said on Sharapova. “She’s somebody who is hard worker, committed to the game, and has been around for many years. I even practiced with her a couple of times, so I know how committed she is to practice hard and she practices hard as she plays in official match.

You can see her concentration. That’s why she’s at the top of the women’s game for so long. She has a mindset of a champion. The other hand, off court she’s a different person than on court. I think people get maybe a wrong idea, because they see her so serious and so focused, doesn’t have much of ups and downs in concentration during the match.

She doesn’t show her personality as much on the official matches. Off court, she’s very intelligent. She’s a very nice girl. Yeah, I know her also for quite many years.” Asked how a player can become mentally stronger, Djokovic replied: “I think over the time, playing a lot of matches on the big stage, playing those tight matches that are decided in a couple of points with big, strong top players. You try to get the best out of it. You try to get the experience that you can use in the future.”
