World No. 1 Iga Swiatek paid a nice tribute to Roger Federer as she said it’s been “a privilege” to witness his astonishing career. Federer, a 20-time Grand Slam champions, intends to walk away from professional tennis after the Laver Cup.
Federer is set to go down as one of the greatest players in tennis history as many believe he transcended the game and helped tennis become more popular. “I just want to thank you for everything you’ve done and everything you are for our sport.

Swiatek is a now a dominant figure in tennis
Previously, Swiatek paid a tribute to 23-time Grand Slam champion Serena Williams.
After winning the US Open and becoming the ninth player in the Open Era to win three Grand Slams before turning 22, Swiatek revealed the lesson she is trying to take away from Williams. “I feel it. I feel like it’s not every time that I can make use of it.
This is the thing that Serena really showed how to do. Because she was at the top for a long time and she was using that pressure and intimidation of being at the top of the game. She used it pretty well to make her matches a little bit easier, especially at the beginning.
I feel like I was able to do that a couple of times, but I want to do it more often. So for sure I’m aware of that and I want to try and use it in the right way,” Swiatek said on the WTA insider podcast. Swiatek has won seven titles this season and at one point had 37 wins in a row.
With Williams retired, Swiatek is now definitely the face of the women’s game and someone who has a strong chance to end up as an all-time great. Swiatek is currently resting after the US Open as she is expected to return to action in Ostrava, which kicks off on October 03.
