Bernard Tomic is motivated to be better than ever after winning his first title since 2018. Last week, Tomic made it all the way at a 15K ITF event in Cancun. En route to winning Cancun, Tomic didn’t drop a single set.

After winning his first title since 2018, Tomic shared an inspirational message on his Instagram Story that read: “The person I’m becoming is going to shock a lot of people.”

Tomic fully committed and dedicated to tennis

After the 2021 season ended, Tomic said he was determined to achieve some big things in the game before retiring.

“I can win Wimbledon,” Tomic told Channel 9’s A Current Affair before the start of the 2022 season. “We all know this, I know this — I’m probably a top 10 player in the world on grass. I will do it, before I retire, I will do it, that’s for sure.”

Also, Tomic admitted that he probably wasn’t fully committed and dedicated to the game early in his career. That’s why Tomic wants to finish off in a strong way so he doesn’t have regrets once his career is over.

“Time is running out. I’ve realised I need to snap out of it and get back to the sport, finish it off the right way and retire happy. Guilt free,” Tomic said. “There are so many things I could have done.

I could have won Wimbledon in my career. But I know I can do it. There’s a window coming in the next five or six years before I retire and I’m going to do it. I’ve got my eyes on it and I will do it.” Tomic is set to turn 30 in October.

Most players usually achieve their best results before turning 30, but Tomic believes his best tennis can come at this stage of his career.
