Liverpool news: Jurgen Klopp plots fresh transfer swoop after beating rivals to deal

It’s not been the start to the season that Jurgen Klopp will have wanted but the Reds can get back on coursely quickly and revert any panic stations with the visit of Ajax on Tuesday.

Last week’s capitulation at Napoli has attracted plenty of scrutiny following several under-par Premier League displays, but Klopp will be keen to get back to winning ways despite juggling a growing injury crisis.

Weathering the current storm will be top priority at Anfield at present, though the Reds’ boss could still have one eye on January if the right player becomes available.

With that in mind, here Mirror Football has rounded up the latest Liverpool news.

Reds dealt injury blow

Just as Klopp is welcoming players back, another heads for the physio’s table.

This time it’s full-back Andy Robertson who is the unfortunate star to pick up a slight niggle which will at least rule him out of the Ajax clash and possibly further fixtures.

Klopp does have Kostas Tsimikas to call upon to fill the void left by Robertson and the Greek international will be keen to impress, though his manager will still be left ruing another cruel blow.

The Brazilian midfielder is out of contract at the end of the season and came close to leaving Villa for Arsenal on deadline day. Villa are still open to a sale to save them losing him for nothing, but Liverpool could now muscle in ahead of the Gunners.

Klopp is in need of midfield reinforcements and latest reports suggest Alex Oxlcade-Chamberlain could move the other way, with his deal at Anfield also due to expire in June.

While Liverpool are looking to beat Arsenal to the signing of Luiz, Manchester United and Chelsea are still left licking their wounds after similarly losing out to their rivals from Merseyside.

Both clubs were caught napping when Liverpool moved to sign youngster Stefan Bajcetic ahead of the Brexit-enforced change in EU regulations.

Now the deal looks to be paying dividends as Bajcetic, 17, is already being involved in Klopp’s plans while his development is impressing Liverpool coaches.
