2003 US Open champion Andy Roddick congratulated Carlos Alcaraz on making tennis history as he feels the 19-year-old will have many more great moments in his career. On Sunday, Alcaraz won his first Grand Slam title and wrote tennis history.
In the US Open final, Alcaraz defeated Casper Ruud in four sets. By winning the US Open final, Alcaraz also rose to No. 1 in the world. Alcaraz is now the youngest top-ranked player in tennis history. Roddick, who turned 21 just days before winning the US Open in 2003, took a moment to congratulate Alcaraz on his stunning year and praised him for being a mature and nice guy off the court.

Before the 2022 season began, coach Juan Carlos Ferrero revealed that they would like to end the year ranked inside the top-15 and possibly reach the ATP Finals.
But Alcaraz has accomplished a lot more as this season he has won a Grand Slam, two Masters titles, as well as reached the top ranking in the world. Alcaraz admits even he is surprised by his stunning rise in 2022. “It’s crazy for me.
I’ve never thought that I was going to achieve something like that at 19 years old. So everything came so fast,” Alcaraz said. “For me it’s unbelievable. It’s something I dreamed since I was a kid, since I started playing tennis.
Of course, lifting this trophy today is amazing for me.” Now, Alcaraz’s goal will certainly be to try to win the ATP Finals later this year.
