During the post-match on-court interview after his victory against Fabio Fognini, Rafael Nadal revealed how he injured his nose the last time before he did so in the second round of the US Open. At the end of the match, the on-court interviewer asked Nadal whether he was alright following his nose injury.

“Little bit painful,” Nadal answered. Inquired about whether this kind of injury had ever happened to him before, Nadal gave a rather funny answer. “With a golf club but not with a tennis racket,” the Spaniard answered giggling.

Rafael Nadal hit himself in the nose with the racket causing him to bleed when he was 3-0 up in the fourth set against Fabio Fognini. Rafa reacted immediately, dropped his racket, and received medical care. See the moment in this article: Rafael Nadal bleeds after hitting nose with racket in 2nd US Open round
