After the Dormy Open, the Challenge Tour remained in Sweden for the Indoor Golf Group Challenge. The event, which took place on the course of the Allerum Golf Club (par 71) in Helsinborg, was won by host Mikael Lindberg with a total of 196 (68 62 66, -17) strokes.
Second place, with 199 (-14) for the English Steven Tiley, the French Robin Sciot-Siegrist and the Dane Nicolai Tinning. Among the Italians competing, the best was Lorenzo Scalise, 13 / o with a score of 203 (68 70 65, -10).
Thanks to a last ‘bogey free’ lap, the Lombard born in 1995 managed to climb 42 positions in the standings and climb three in the order of merit of the circuit (now he is 27 / o). Federico Maccario placed 27 / o with 205 (68 68 69, -8) and Enrico Di Nitto 52 / o with 208 (71 66 71, -5).

Matteo Manassero, on the other hand, still in the running to get back into the top 45 of the “Road to Mallorca” (with the best players of the Challenge Tour who will compete in the November Grand Final for the 20 “cards” to play in 2023 on the DP World Tour), he could not get past the cut by closing 70 / o with 139 (68 71, -3).
As well as Luca Cianchetti (69 71) and Aron Zemmer (68 72), 80 / i with 140 (-2), Gregorio De Leo, 110 / o with 144 (71 73, +2), Edoardo Raffaele Lipparelli, 121 / o with 145 (74 71, +3), Jacopo Vecchi Fossa, 127 / o with 146 (74 72, +4) and Filippo Bergamaschi, 138 / o with 148 (80 68, +6).
Thanks to this exploit, Mikael Lindberg won his first title on the circuit and cashed a check for 40,000 euros on a total prize pool of 250,000. Bad weather was the protagonist in Sweden, especially on Saturday when no one was able to take the field.
The tournament, in fact, has been reduced from 72 to 54 holes. The Challenge Tour is a European professional men’s golf circuit which acts as the 2nd European division, behind the European PGA Tour. This circuit was created in 1986 and was named Satellite Tour.
The top fifteen in the season standings qualify for the following year’s PGA European Tour. Some tournaments are played outside of Europe. In addition, the player who wins three tournaments during the same season automatically passes to the European tour for the current season and keeps his card on this circuit for the following season.
The lower circuits are the Alps Tour, EPD Tour and PGA EuroPro Tour. Each season, the top five from each circuit qualify for the Challenge Tour.
