In a few hours the US Open 2022 will officially begin. The fourth and last Slam tournament will not have the presence of the Serbian Novak Djokovic, who has been excluded for reasons unrelated to tennis. Now, though, is the time to hit the court, and several big names will shine in New York straight away.

On Court Arthur Ashe, world number one and defending champion Daniil Medvedev opens the action, playing against American Kozlov. Next, it’s time for the women, first Cori Gauff and then especially Serena Williams. The American tennis legend plays her last tournament in New York and each match could be the last of her career.

Next comes the Australian derby between two best friends, Nick Kyrgios and Thanasi Kokkinakis. On the Louis Armstrong court, two former number ones such as Andy Murray and Simona Halep, then Tsitsipas and Félix Auger Aliassime, as well as last year’s finalist Leylah Fernández, will take the court.

On the next track a lot of Italy with Matteo Berrettini who on court 17 faces a qualifier while on court 6 Camila Giorgi faces the Hungarian Bondar. The Italians on court 11 conclude with Trevisan and finally Sonego facing Jordan Thompson.

Important waits will be postponed in the coming days for Rafa Nadal and Jannik Sinner. Specifically, the Majorcan champion takes to the track with his physical condition unknown after retiring from Wimbledon and the recent defeat at the Masters 1000 in Montreal.

Tennis star Novak Djokovic is out of the competition at the US Open. He has won the US Open thrice in his career.

Ben Fordham defends Djokovic

The conclusion to Novak Djokovic’s US Open saga has been termed ’embarrassing’ and ‘ridiculous’ by leading Australian journalist and sports presenter Ben Fordham.

According to him, the Serbian player just wanted to play tennis and his entry ban into the US defied logic. “It is embarrassing and it defies logic and science,” Fordham said. “He is one of the fittest people on the planet.

He doesn’t drink, he travels with his own personal doctor and nutritionist. He has recovered from having COVID-19 already.” This year too, the player has won one grand slam title at Wimbledon after defeating the Australian player, Nick Kyrgios.

However, US Open will also see Rafael Nadal, who has won 22 grand slam titles and is on a quest to get his 23rd one. Some will miss Djokovic at the US Open and some will not.
