Arsenal are still on the prowl for a sixth summer signing as Mikel Arteta’s Gunners revolution continues to take shape.
The Gunners have already brought in five new players since the summer window opened, but now there are only four days left to get deals over the line. Arteta has multiple targets, with Wilfried Zaha and Pedro Neto identified as two players who could rejuvenate the Arsenal front-line.
Elsewhere, Youri Tielemans continues to be linked as he has been all summer while the Gunners also look to offload a host of stars deemed surplus to requirements. Nicolas Pepe has already left the club to join Nice on a season-long loan, as Hector Bellerin remains in talks to terminate his contract, with both Barcelona and Real Betis interested.

Pepe gets rude awakening
Nicolas Pepe was delighted to leave Arsenal and join Nice earlier this month, but his debut for the French side did not go to plan on Sunday.
Nice were thrashed 3-0 by Marseille at home, with former Arsenal man Alexis Sanchez netting twice and Nuno Tavares, who is on loan from the Gunners, grabbing the other goal.
Marseille, who also fielded former Arsenal players Sead Kolasinac and Matteo Guendouzi, are now top of the Ligue 1 table, while Nice are languishing in 18th place without a win from their opening four matches.

ICYMI – Arsenal backed to make Neto move
Former Wolves defender Joleon Lescott isn’t surprised to see Arsenal in for Pedro Neto.
“It looks like Arteta still wants to do a little bit of business before the window shuts and of all the names they’ve been linked with, Pedro Neto is the one that catches my eye,” Lescott told LiveScore.
“He’s become a huge player for my old club Wolves but everyone has their price and I think he’s got ridiculously high potential.”
Ex-Arsenal stars face off
Nicolas Pepe had his Nice debut well and truly ruined after completing a loan switch to the Ligue 1 outfit from Arsenal this week.
The Ivorian winger was given his first chance to impress on Sunday afternoon having been announced as a Nice player earlier this week. He was also coming up against a number of familiar faces with both sides having a number of former Gunners in their ranks.
Pepe started for his new side, whilst Welsh midfielder Aaron Ramsey was introduced from the bench during the second period having joined the French club from Juventus earlier this summer.

Adams turned down Strictly six years ago
Tony Adams turned down Strictly Come Dancing six years ago as he thought it would ruin his chances as a football boss.
The Arsenal legend, 55, went on to manage a string of football teams after retiring from the pitch.
He admitted: “I still wanted to be a coach, which remains for me the best part of the football business.
“One of the main reasons I turned down chances to go on Strictly Come Dancing – despite the money on offer being good – was because I was concerned about not being taken seriously as a football coach after it.”

Wilshere’s dream start
Jack Wilshere got his coaching career off to an ideal start with a North London derby victory over Tottenham Hotspur.
The former Arsenal midfielder made the decision to hang his boots last month following a 14-year career within the professional game. He last represented Danish club AGF after his release from Bournemouth but only managed to make 14 appearances for the club before once again being without a club this summer.
At the age of 30, he announced his decision to retire via an emotional statement and was then confirmed to be returning to one of his former clubs Arsenal as the North London outfit’s U18 head coach.

ICYMI – Neto hope
Wolverhampton Wanderers manager Bruno Lage admits that “everything can happen” in the final days of the transfer window, as Arsenal continue to be linked with his star player, Pedro Neto.
“I am happy with everyone,” Lage added when asked about transfers. “But the last three weeks when you look at the team from last year, when you look at the team who started pre-season, many changes can happen.
“I was confident many changes can happen and we are changing. It’s to understand the market, to understand the opportunities that we have, and also understand the opportunities that some players have here, and decide what is the best for the club and the players. Let’s see what happens until the last day.”
ICYMI – Asensio boost
Real Madrid boss Carlo Ancelotti admitted Marco Asensio may leave the club in the closing days of the summer transfer window amid interest from Manchester United and Arsenal.
The 26-year-old has joined Jorge Mendes’s Gestifute agency and a representative is on standby to talk to the Gunners in London, with sources close to the player suggesting the North London side are in the box seat to land him.
However, United are also monitoring the situation having completed the £59m signing of Casemiro from Los Blancos and have been offered the chance to do a deal for the Spanish forward, which could be a stand-by deal in case their pursuit of Ajax forward Antony does not come to fruition.

Saka and Gabriel exchange words
Arsenal defender Gabriel Magalhaes was spotted telling Bukayo Saka in no uncertain terms about the part he played in Fulham ’s opener at the Emirates.

Neves sends transfer message
Wolves midfielder Ruben Neves has been speaking about his future amid interest from Arsenal.
“Well, let’s see what happens,” Neves told The Times. “I try to focus 100 per cent on my football and I had a good start to the season but we need results now. If you ask me at the end of last season I would have said to you, ‘I will leave’ but I’m still here, so we never know what’s going to happen.”
Neves added: “One of the things I miss most is the Champions League, it’s the best competition in the world to play in. So let’s try to achieve that.”
Loan star impresses
Young Arsenal goalkeeper Arthur Okonkwo drew special praise from his manager Alex Morris after keeping a clean sheet for Crewe Alexandra, his third during his loan spell.
Morris said: “Arthur will get better and better. He has got some incredible attributes, but if anyone thought he wouldn’t have a few wobbles and mistakes in his first few games, they were always likely to be mistaken.
“That’s going to happen, it’s a natural thing we have seen many times with our own academy graduates.
“Young players need to be given time and you have to stick with them, because they like to be backed and trusted and that’s bearing fruit with Arthur.”

The agents of Wilfried Zaha are exploring “many options” amid renewed links to Arsenal, according to Fabrizio Romano.

Campbell on Zaha links
Wilfried Zaha being linked with Arsenal is nothing new – and the Gunners’ search for a winger has seen his name crop up again.
Former striker Kevin Campbell is a big fan and reckons a move to the Emirates would be “absolutely devastating”.
He told The Highbury Squad podcast: “I believe Wilfried Zaha has been mentioned. Let’s be honest, production wise, Wilfried Zaha is probably the most productive of them all. He’s a Gooner as well so wouldn’t it be interesting.
“We’ve seen him absolutely torture a couple of teams since we played them. I think for two or three season, Zaha would be absolutely devastating for the Arsenal.”
Former Arsenal target Paqueta headed to London
Lucas Paqueta, once on Arsenal’s radar, is on the verge of completing a move to West Ham United.

Arteta’s five obstacles before 100th PL game
“If you don’t have the right culture, in the difficult moments, the tree is going to shake, so my job is to convince everybody that this is how we are going to live – it has to be in these terms and in this way.”
Mikel Arteta made sure the watching world knew he was not going to suffer fools gladly for as long as he was at the helm of Arsenal during his first ever press-conference as Gunners boss.
The Spaniard took his troops to Bournemouth for his first ever game in charge on Boxing day 2019 – just two players who lined up that day took to the field for Arteta’s 99th league fixture against the same opponent on the south coast less than three years later.
Now, ahead of his 100th Premier League game as manager of one of English football’s biggest clubs, Mirror Football has taken a look at the on and off-field issues that have plagued Arteta since he succeeded Unai Emery as boss and the measures he took to rectify them.
