On their 50th anniversary, Nike used artificial intelligence to confront the 1999 version of Serena Williams with her 2017 version by making them play 130,000 games. The results were published in video format on YouTube. According to Nike, the video shows how the greatest in the game evolved into the greatest ever.
“To explore the evolution of Serena Williams over her decades-long career, we used AI to generate 130,000 games between Serena from two of her most defining career moments — her first Grand Slam in 1999 and her most recent in 2017.
We asked ourselves—What if we could see how Serena went from the best in the game, to the best ever? What insights could we learn about how a champion evolves over time?” Nike captioned the video.
