Hero Open, schedule

The competition, now in its third edition, will see Scotsman Grant Forrest defend the title won in 2021 when he overtook Englishman James Morrison by a stroke, in search of a rematch.

And the Scots will aim to play a leading role. From Richie Ramsay, who last week found success (at the Cazoo Classic) after a 7-year long fast, to David Law via Stephen Gallacher. These are just some of the Hero Open’s most anticipated golfers.

Among the favorites are the South African Brandon Stone, the New Zealander Ryan Fox, the Spaniards Jorge Campillo and Adrian Otaegui and the Thai Jazz Janewattananond. The Royal and Ancient Golf Club of St Andrews is one of the oldest and most prestigious golf clubs in the world.

It is located in St Andrews, Scotland and is universally known as the “Home of Golf” Officially he was one of the regulators for the game of golf until 2004, when this function was taken over by a body known as the R&A.

The organization was founded in 1754 by the St Andrews Golfer Association, a local club of members playing on the St Andrews Links course, but quickly grew in importance. In 1834 the British King William IV became his protector and the club took its current name.

In 1897 the company formalized the Rules of Golf and, gradually, over the next 30 years it was invited to preside over tournaments on other fields. The R&A is the competent authority for golf in the world, except for the United States and Mexico, where the authority rests with the United States Golf Association (USGA).

The R&A collaborates with National Federations and organizations of professionals and amateurs in more than 110 countries and has among other objectives that of expanding golf into new countries. The R&A cooperates with the USGA in formalizing and regularly updating the Rules of Golf, and the two organizations have jointly produced the rules since 1952 and have also formulated technical specifications for golf equipment.

The R&A founded what are now the Official World Golf Rankings for professionals in 1986, and the World Amateur Golf Ranking for amateurs in 2007.
