Arsenal have made a bright start to pre-season with three wins from three games following the arrivals of four new players this summer, while a fifth is soon to be expected after the club agreed a fee with Manchester City for Oleksandr Zinchenko.
But the drama doesn’t stop there, with the latest reports revealing further developments for at least three more players. The Gunners have apparently been ‘offered’ the chance to sign a Borussia Dortmund defender, while midfield target Carney Chukwuemeka has rejected a contract extension from Aston Villa. Elsewhere, Youri Tielemans could now stay at Leicester City.
Mirror Football takes a look at all the latest transfer stories coming out of the Emirates Stadium…
Gunners ‘offered’ Dortmund defender
With reports continuing to link Gabriel Maghaeles with a move away from the Emirates Stadium this summer to Serie A side Juventus, Arsenal are beginning to take action in case of that event happening by looking at potential replacements for the Brazilian centre back.
But they may not even have to look that far, following reports that Borussia Dortmund have supposedly ‘offered’ the Gunners the chance to sign their defender Manuel Akanji this summer, as they look to move him on before the transfer window slams shut.
That’s according to Gazzetta Dello Sport, who say that Arsenal have a long-term interest in the centre back and could look to take up the offer after missing out on Lisandro Martinez. However, Dortmund are asking for €20-25 million (£17-£21.2 million) but Akanji’s contract expires next summer, so the Gunners may have second thoughts about paying such money for him now.

Chukwuemeka rejects Aston Villa contract
Aston Villa midfielder Carney Chukwuemeka has been attracting plenty of interest from a number of Premier League clubs this summer, as well as the likes of Barcelona, after news broke that he is yet to sign a new contract as he enters the final 12 months of his current deal.
And now the likelihood of him leaving Villa Park this summer has increased after the Telegraph revealed that the 18-year-old has now officially rejected a contract renewal from Steven Gerrard’s side, which serves as a huge blow to the Villains as they look set to lose a huge talent.
If Chukwuemeka does not leave this summer, where he is valued at around £20million by his current club, then he will be able to leave for nothing next year. This is a situation that Villa will be keen to avoid, therefore meaning that an exit this month could well be on the cards.
Tielemans odds to stay at Leicester ‘increasing’
Arsenal have been linked with signing Leicester City midfielder Youri Tielemans for the majority of the summer transfer window but following weeks of no confirmed deal between the two clubs, the Gunners have now been sent a warning over the midfielder’s future.
According to a report by The Athletic, Arsenal’s interest has ‘not yet materialised into an offer’ and ‘the odds are increasing’ that Tielemans will remain at Leicester until the end of his contract, which expires next summer. They also add that Brendan Rodgers will ‘hold talks’ with the player this week.
Manchester United have also been interested in potentially signing the Belgian midfielder, but following the addition of Christian Eriksen and their continued pursuit of Frenkie de Jong, a deal is unlikely as things stand. This, if anything, further highlights that Arsenal won’t have a better chance of signing Tielemans this summer.
