Former world No. 2 Alex Corretja says he would be praying not to meet Nick Kyrgios early at Wimbledon if he was a seeded Wimbledon participant. 45th-ranked Kyrgios has a big game and is considered as one of the most dangerous players on grass.
Due to his ranking, Kyrgios will be unseeded at Wimbledon and many have identified the Australian as the player no seeded player will want to meet in the early rounds at The Championships. “If I would be in the Wimbledon draw and I would be seeded, I would pray not to play Kyrgios in the first rounds,” Corretja told Eurosport.
“It’s so difficult to play against him, his serve is probably one of the best on tour right now. He knows that he loves to play on grass, he likes to have fun, he likes to get the crowd involved. I think he’s playing with less pressure.”

Kyrgios has had a good season so far, reaching back-to-back semifinals in Stuttgart and Mallorca. This week, Kyrgios won his Mallorca opener before he gave Roberto Bautista Agut a walkover due to an abdominal injury.
“In another moment, I feel like he was not probably ready, like when you see him in the Australian Open or US Open, because the matches are longer, but in Wimbledon they can be long, but he can make quick points. He can put pressure with the return as well, with the forehand, with the backhand flat.
Well, I think Kyrgios is someone that you don’t want to really see next to you in the draw,” Corretja added. Tennis pundits all agree on one – Kyrgios could be a threat to any opponent at Wimbledon. Kyrgios became a Grand Slam champion earlier this year when he won the Australian Open men’s doubles title with Thanasi Kokkinakis and now he is hoping to win his maiden Major singles title at Wimbledon.
