In his press conference in Mallorca, Rafael Nadal practically confirmed his presence at Wimbledon. Majorcan tennis player. he said he will depart for London where, before playing the third Grand Slam of the season (his last appearance was in 2019 when he was beaten in the semi-finals by Federer) he will play two exhibition matches at Hurlingham.

On those days, the Spaniard will also participate in a golf tournament, which is his other sporting passion. After Wimbledon, Rafael Nadal will take another break and then fly to America. The twenty-two-time Major winner confirmed his desire to participate in the Roger Cup, the Canadian Masters 1000 that he has won five times in his career (the last in 2019 against Medvedev) and then face the US Open, the last Slam of the year.

Nadal also stated that his foot treatment is still working and that, therefore, he would like to play both Slams and the 1000 in Canada between now and the end of the season. Rafa has played five finals at the London Major in his career, winning twice (2008 and 2010).

He hasn’t played a final since 2011, when he had to surrender to Novak Djokovic. Since then, between withdrawals due to injuries and unhappy first rounds, he managed to do well again in 2018 and 2019, when he only had to give in to his other two historical rivals, Djokovic and Federer.

The bull from Manacor, thanks to his success at Roland Garros, not only extended his lead over Djokovic and Federer in terms of the number of Majors won, but also further improved his record for the percentage of matches won in tennis history.

The 36-year-old Spaniard currently leads with 83.31%, the result of 1,058 wins and only 212 losses. Behind him is Novak Djokovic, who is at 83.13% (1005-204), having lost a bit after his elimination in the French Slam quarterfinals against the Spanish.

Bautista Agut pays tribute to Nadal

Much like Rafael Nadal, Roberto Bautista Agut knows a thing or two about making a return from injury. “Rafa, the truth is that he is a player who has spent many games and has worked on his body.

It is normal for him to suffer a lot of pain and discomfort,” he said. “He is a player who has exceeded the normal limits. Perhaps he is the one with the greatest ability to sacrifice to get through difficult times,” he said.

Bautista Agut, who has 10 ATP career titles to his name, will take on Taro Daniel in his opening match at the Mallorca Open on Monday.
