Cricketer Shreyas Iyer honours Indian football team after Hong Kong win

Indian cricketer Shreyas Iyer congratulated the Indian football team after the impressive way in which the Blue Tigers qualified for the AFC Asian Cup 2023.

Igor Stimac’s side topped their Group D as they beat all three of their group opponents in Cambodia, Afghanistan and Hong Kong.

They first overcame Cambodia’s challenge and won 2-0. As expected, Sunil Chhetri scored a brace in that game.

The second game against Afghanistan was the toughest game India faced as they Chhetri had to step up once again to give his team the lead in the 86th minute. Afghanistan equalied 1-1 in the 88th minute just before an incredible 91st minute winner from Sahal Abdul Samad sent the whole nation into jubilation.

Before their last qualification game against Hong Kong, it was confirmed that India have qualified for the AFC Asian Cup courtesy of Palestine’s win over the Philippines.

But still, the Blue Tigers dominated and won 4-0 in order to top their group and attain qualification for the AFC Asian Cup 2023 in some style.
