A joint team from the world governing body, FIFA and the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) is reportedly set to visit India in order to “understand the current football situation” following Supreme Court’s order of instituting a three-member Committee of Administrators (CoA) to run the day-to-day activities of the All India Football Federation (AIFF).
The Supreme Court on Wednesday removed Praful Patel and his committee from managing the national bodyand have appointed a three- member Committee of Administrators (CoA) headed by former top court judge AR Dave to manage the organisation’s affairs.
This resulted in Praful Patel stepping down as president of the AIFF on Wednesday considering that he had been the president since 2009 and had already completed three terms or 12 years, which is the maximum for a national body, took the opportunity to thank the Supreme Court for “bringing finality to a long pending issue since 2017”.
With the CoA taking over the workings of the AIFF, the Press Trust of India now claim that both FIFA and AFC want to visit the country and understand the current situation of the sport.
“FIFA and AFC’s team will visit India, most probably in June, to basically understand the current situation arising out of the recent Supreme Court order. Given the scenario, we are hoping that there will be no ban on India for external interference, but they will discuss the matter and implication,” the report added.
