Former Kiambu County Governor Ferdinand Waititu is mourning the death of his mother Mama Monica Njeri Waititu.
According to Ferdinand, his mother,93, succumbed to heart failure while receiving treatment at Aga Khan Hospital in Nairobi on Sunday, February 20.
“Having lived with diabetes since 1982, my mother fought many health battles. But her positive attitude, discipline and God’s faithfulness carried her through the challenges,” he said.
Waititu thanked God for the many years their mother lived.
“As a family, we really appreciate the many years God gave us with our matriarch. We are grateful for 93 years of her life and the many sacrifices she made to raise us.”
Deputy President William Ruto sent his condolence message to the family.
“I extend my condolences to Hon Ferdinand Waititu and his entire family and friends following the demise of your mother Monica Njeri Waititu.”
“Mama Monica’s love, counsel and generosity which she extended to the community will be missed,” Ruto said.
