Interviewed by Oh My Goal, former OM striker Valère Germain returned to his discomfort at not having been considered a potential starter by Jorge Sampaoli. The French striker, who played in Marseille from 2017 until last August, left the Olympian club to join Montpellier only a few months after the arrival of the Argentinian technician.
“It was complicated, you go to training and you know you’re not going to play at the weekend. It concerned the holders much more (…) the substitutes were hardly with the holders. I was not happy, once I got a little caught up with the physical trainer of his staff. Even if you don’t want to make noise, at some point it gets drunk.” explained the 31-year-old striker.

The former Marseillais then added that he had a good relationship with his former coach, however. “In training it was going well. Several times he congratulated me, in his office he told me that I was close to the level of the holders. ». Now engaged with Montpellier until June 2024, Germain has already participated in 20 games with the MHSC this season, for four goals scored and two assists.
