Confluence Stars, Kano Pillars, Tojemarine Academy, Imo Grasshoppers and Bayelsa Queens all secured three points in the male and female categories in yesterday’s Day Three of the Prudent Energy Handball Premier League at the M.K.O. Abiola National Stadium in Abuja.

Confluence Stars subdued the league leaders, Niger United 28 to 25 in the opening fixture of the male category, as they climbed up on the table, while Kano Pillars won their third league game against Kada Stars (26 to 15), while Tojemarine Academy walked over COAS Shooters 10-00 to secure their second win in the premier league.

Two new entrants in the top-flight league in the female class, Bayelsa Queens and Confluence Queens met for the first time and it ended 26 to 14 in favour of the Yenagoa’s girls, while league leaders, the Imo Grasshoppers overpowered Defender Babes 24 to 19.

Kano Pillars’ coach, Solomon Yola, who spoke on his players’ performance, commended them for their effort against the Kada Stars, adding that the draw against the Defenders on Friday won’t affect their plan of winning the premier league.

“Winning the championship is not going to be easy, considering that many games will be played. I am hopeful we will improve on each of our game and reclaim the title. I know no team is weak in this championship, but how we play in every game will determine the result,” Yola stated.

Today’s Day Four fixtures in the female cadre will see Confluence Queens battle Adorable Angels, while Kada Queens will meet Defender Babes as Seasider Babes will slug it out with Safety Babes in the last game of the day.

However, COAS Shooters and Plateau Vipers will kick start today’s fixtures in the male category, while Rima Strikers will clash with D Defenders, as Kano Pillars will do battle with Lagos Seasiders in the last game of the day.
