Kano Pillars’ forward Nyima Nwagua has set his sights on the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) top prize, saying the next thing he wants to win with the present club is the league.
Pillars, fondly called Sai Masu Gida by their followers, boosted their chances of in the league title race by winning 2-1 away to Wikki Tourists on MatchDay 17 in Bauchi.
Nwagua scored as early as the 13th minute while Ebuka David got the insurance goal 14 minutes before substitute Stephen Chukwude reduced the deficit for Wikki midway in the second half.
After the game, Nwagua told www.npfl.ng that he just wants to win the league for the first time in his career.
“I have won the Aiteo Cup for the club, I really want to win the league for the club also,” he said.
The goal was his fifth of the season and he says it felt good to be back winning after dropping points at home to Rivers United and Rangers International
“It feels good to be back on winning ways… you know we dropped points at home so we were actually looking for a way to get it back and today we wrapped the game in the first half. It feels good to get back to scoring and winning away,” he added. The last time Kano Pillars won the league title was in 2014.
