Chairman of the Edo Sports Commission (ESSC), Godwin Dudu-Orumen, believes the recent re-election of Godwin Obaseki as Edo State governor will help the ongoing project to reposition the state as the country’s number one in grassroots sports development.

Congratulating Governor Godwin Obaseki on his re-election last Saturday, Dudu-Orumen said the governor has been a big force in the process of re-engineering sports in Edo State, which “during the Samuel Ogbemudia years was the undisputed leader in the country’s sports.”

In a congratulatory letter to the governor, Dudu-Orumen noted that Governor Obaseki’s re-election by the people of Edo State was well deserved, adding, “It is with great excitement that I on behalf of the entire members of staff of the Edo State Sports Commission congratulate you on your re-election for a second term as Governor at the recently concluded September 19, 2020, Governorship election.

“We thank God for His mercy in granting you good health and protection during the period that made it possible for you to undertake the election project without hitches and emerged successful at the end.”

Dudu-Orumen said the Edo Sports Commission would not relent in its assignment to reposition sports in Edo State but will instead be rededicated to work in conformity with Obaseki’s blueprint to make the state the first stop in sports tourism in Nigeria.

“We hope to continue to enjoy your support and encouragement in order to make this dream a reality to the benefit of our youths who voted to overwhelm for you in the just concluded election We wish you well and pray that you achieve more successes in your second term to the admiration of your supporters across the state and beyond,” Dudu-Orumen said.
