Secretary General of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), Mohammed Sanusi, has revealed that the body is working on a programme that would ensure the Super Eagles qualify for the 2018 Cup.
Sanusi told The Guardian that the NFF was not worried by the profiles of Nigeria’s opponents in Group B of the African Cup qualifying series, adding that the Super Eagles have quality players that would stand their own against any team if properly managed.
Nigeria is grouped against Algeria, Cameroun and Zambia in the qualifiers.
He assured Nigerians that the NFF would provide a conducive environment that would bring out the best in the country’s players, saying that the federation would do everything to prevent the sort of debacle that befell the Eagles during the qualifiers for the Gabon 2017 African Nations Cup.
“The Eagles have equal chance with the other teams in their group to qualify for the 2018 Cup. In African football, no team is superior to the other, but the difference is in preparation.
“The NFF is working on a programme that will help the team get the best preparations ahead of the qualifiers. All the team needs at this moment is the total support of Nigerians because we have quality players that can outshine any opposition in the continent,’’ he said.
