Igando Academy wins Abesan Cup — Sport — –

Debutants, Igando Football Academy, has defeated Rozie FC to win the 2015 Abesan Cup, which final game was decided at Powerline Field, Ikola near Ipaja, Lagos.

The game ended goalless at regular time, but the Igando boys, whose goalkeeper, Israel Olorunfemi, was in superb form, proved better marksmen in the penalty shoot out, which decided the tie.

In the third place match decided before the final, Sammy FC of Ijegun defeated last year’s finalists, Adonai FC, 4-2, via another penalty shoot out after a goalless regulation period.

As part of the grand finale, the organisers honoured some outfits for supporting the competition since the past two years.

Those honoured included Tee & Tife Oil, Ponle Ademola, Education District One, Kazeem Olanrewaju, Felix Opata, Julius Ojo, Dr. Omobayo Raheem, Seba Osoko, Semasa Sufton and Oluwaseyi Adetola.

Meanwhile, one of the sponsors of the competition, First Registrars, has donated 100 match balls to Abesan Football Development.

Presenting the match balls during the final of the 2015 Abesan Cup, First Registrars’ Head of Administration, Oluwaseyi Adetola, said the gesture was part of the company’s contribution to improve Nigerian youths through sports.

“We are concerned about the future of the country and that is why wealways choose to identify with youth programmes and Abesan Cup is oneof the events that we are proud of,” he said.
