NIPDA presents furniture to schools

Prampram (GAR), Sept. 25, GNA – The
Ningo-Prampram District Assembly (NIPDA) has presented furniture to local
schools to facilitate teaching and learning.

The furniture included 400 chairs and 100
tables for kindergarten and 740 dual desks for primary schools.

Mr Jonathan Teye Doku, Ningo-Prampram District
Chief Executive, presenting the items, said the Assembly was aware of the
numerous needs of the schools especially, furniture hence the decision to
present at least 1,000 desks annual.

Mr Doku added that it was also the policy of
the government not to allow children to carry chairs from home to school.

According to him, teachers’ bungalows would
soon be constructed at Mangostonaa while an ongoing toilet facility for the
Afienya Cluster of Schools would be completed soon.

He urged residents in the District to fulfil
their civic responsibilities of paying fees and rates to the Assembly to enable
it   finance such projects.

The DCE appealed to the local education
directorate to ensure that most deprived schools were first given the

some of the schools was serious as there were no chairs for their kindergarten
pupils adding that ‘ it would not make schooling a happy experience for the

She further indicated that her outfit had a
number of challenges including lack of vehicles for effective supervision and
monitoring as most of the schools were scattered and far from the district’s

She challenged students to study hard to improve
the district’s performance in the Basic Education Certificate Examination
saying the District recorded a 50 per cent pass in the 2016/2017 academic year.

She explained that her outfit was yet to know
the score for the 2017/2018 BECE as the results were yet to reach the schools
and the Directorate.
