Beautiful Gowns Ladies Can Rock For Weekend Fun Outing

0

Weekend fairs offer the ideal setting to showcase your unique style while embracing comfort and charm. These lively gatherings — whether they’re filled with art exhibitions, music performances, food stalls, or handmade crafts — deserve outfits that are as vibrant and joyful as the event itself. What better way to enjoy the occasion than in a beautiful, breezy gown that highlights your personality?

Consider lightweight and breathable options such as chiffon dresses, floral maxi gowns, or A-line styles infused with Ankara fabric. These types of gowns not only ensure comfort during warm afternoons but also allow you to move freely and confidently. The goal is to strike the perfect balance between ease and elegance.

When choosing colors, lean toward vibrant, uplifting tones like mustard yellow, coral, soft lavender, or sky blue. These hues naturally complement the festive spirit of weekend fairs. Details such as flouncy ruffles, puffed sleeves, asymmetrical hems, or thigh-high slits can give your look a playful, flirty edge without compromising modesty or comfort.

Accessories matter too. A wide-brimmed straw hat, oversized sunglasses, or a colorful statement handbag can add personality to your look. Slip into comfy sandals or low-block heels to stay stylish and grounded while walking through vendor booths or dancing to live music.

Dressing up for a weekend fair is about celebrating more than just fashion — it’s about embracing happiness, color, and personal flair. So next time you’re planning a fair visit, pick a gown that tells your story with confidence and joy.

We’d love to hear your favorite fair-day outfit ideas — share them with us in the comments below!

MC Yaa Yeboah

Renowned Ghanaian Entertainment Pundit, Yaa Yeboah, popularly known as MC Yeboah, has shared her gloomy experience following the tragic loss of eight individuals, including two serving ministers and other prominent figures in a helicopter crash.

Sharing her experience, Yaa Yeboah stated, “I was performing some chores when I heard breaking news of a Ghana Armed Forces helicopter that had gone off the radar. I had confirmed with a few friends, but didn’t have any tangible confirmation. After 15 minutes, there was confirmation from many media outlets indicating that all passengers on board had lost their lives.”

She added that, even though she did not have direct relations with the deceased, the news shook her, making her cry her heart out for the departed souls and their families.

“Alhaji Ibrahim Murtala Mohammed was a man full of life, and Omane Boamah, I am told, is a very brilliant individual who has contributed immensely to the building of the nation, especially in his former role as Communication Minister. This is a great loss for the nation. I was shocked when I heard of their death.”

She made this known on Saturday’s United on UTV, which witnessed the paying of tributes to the eight fallen patriots.

The deceased include the Minister for Defence, Dr. Edward Kofi Omane Boamah, and the Minister for Environment, Science and Technology, Alhaji Ibrahim Murtala Mohammed. Also among the deceased were NDC Vice Chairman Dr. Samuel Sarpong, Deputy National Security Coordinator Alhaji Mohammed Muniru Limuna, former parliamentary candidate Mr. Samuel Aboagye, and three military personnel: Squadron Leader Peter Baafemi Anala, Flying Officer Twum Ampadu, and Sergeant Ernest Addo Mensah.

MC Yeboah also condemned the trivialising of the incident, saying, “This is an accident that can happen to everybody, so we should learn from it and measure our ways.”

The National Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Mr. Johnson Asiedu Nketia, has donated GH¢60,000 to the Saviour Church of Ghana to support the families of 16 young members who lost their lives in a recent road accident.

The tragedy, which occurred as the youth returned from a church programme, has plunged Obogu in the Asante Akim South District into deep mourning.

During a visit to the church on Saturday, August 9, 2025, Mr. Asiedu Nketia expressed heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families, urging them to find strength in their faith. “Every occurrence in life has a divine purpose,” he told the congregation.

The donation comprised GH¢50,000 from his personal resources and GH¢10,000 from the NDC’s Gender Ministry. He explained that the funds were intended to ease the immediate burden on the affected families.

Mr. Asiedu Nketia disclosed that he had sent a party representative, Justice Yeboah, to the church soon after the accident to convey his initial sympathies. He also appealed to the congregation to pray for Ghana and for the NDC, seeking divine protection from future tragedies.

He was accompanied by a high-powered delegation, including Ashanti Regional Minister Dr. Frank Amoakohene; Ashanti Regional NDC Chairman Augustus Andrews Nana Akwasi; Kumasi Mayor Mr. Richard Ofori Agyemang Boadi; Ashanti Regional Organiser and Political Coordinator for Government Business, Isham Alhassan; and the Acting Ashanti Regional Secretary, Mr. Baah Acheamfour.

Also present were the District Chief Executive (DCE) for Atwima Nwabiagya North, Mba Zachariah; Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Atwima Nwabiagya South, Wisdom Boamah; MCE for Ahafo Ano North, Kwasi Adusei; and Madam Eunice Ohenewaa, MCE for Ejisu.

The NDC Chairman’s visit, marked by solemn prayers and words of encouragement, came at a time when the ruling party had been criticised for failing to visit the victims’ families. In the Ashanti Region, residents had questioned why government officials — including the Regional Minister, the DCE of the area, the Gender Minister, and other top party figures — had not earlier shown solidarity with the bereaved.

For many in Obogu, Mr. Asiedu Nketia’s appearance with his entourage signalled an effort to “right the wrongs” and demonstrate compassion in the wake of the tragedy.

Ghanaians Hail Bawumia’s Asomdwehene Traits

0

President John Mahama and Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia

Former Vice President, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia has been lauded by a section of Ghanaians for exhibiting traits reminiscent of the late Professor John Evans Atta Mills, affectionately called Asomdwehene (King of Peace).

Dr. Bawumia, who served as Ghana’s Vice President before the current administration, visited President John Dramani Mahama on Saturday, August 9, to console him over the tragic helicopter crash that claimed the lives of eight people.

The gesture has been described as an act of unity and statesmanship, echoing the calm, non-divisive leadership style for which Atta Mills was revered until his untimely passing in office.

Many citizens, political commentators and civil society actors have praised Dr. Bawumia for maintaining a temperate and considerate political posture even in the face of partisan divides.

Professor Atta Mills was celebrated for avoiding inflammatory rhetoric, focusing instead on consensus-building and peaceful governance.

According to admirers, Dr. Bawumia’s decision to stand with President Mahama during a moment of national grief reflects a rare maturity in contemporary politics, where ideological differences often overshadow compassion and solidarity.

Vice President of IMANI Africa, Kofi Bentil, in a heartfelt social media post, described both President Mahama and Dr. Bawumia as “amongst the finest politicians in the whole world,” and commended them for providing “shining examples” during dark times.

He noted that while leaders in other parts of the world are trapped in “pointless tussles” that polarise their nations, Ghana is blessed to have two statesmen who can rise above political rivalry to unify the country when it matters most.

Mr. Bentil expressed gratitude to God for giving the nation “temperate, considerate, calm-mannered, yet capable men to lead us,” urging Ghanaians not to take such leadership for granted.

The outpouring of public admiration for Dr. Bawumia’s gesture underscores a wider yearning for politics anchored in mutual respect, peace and pragmatic problem-solving.

As Ghana continues to navigate its challenges, the example set by leaders like Atta Mills — and now embodied in part by Dr. Bawumia — offers a vision of governance that values national cohesion over partisanship.

For many, such moments are a reminder that progress is not achieved by “slashing and condemning” opponents, but by steadily building consensus and advancing together as a united people.

Australia to recognise Palestinian state in September

0

Australia will recognise a Palestinian state at the UN General Assembly in September, following similar moves by the UK, France and Canada, Prime Minister Anthony Albanese has said.

Albanese said Australia received commitments from the Palestinian Authority (PA) including to demilitarise, hold general elections and continue to recognise Israel’s right to exist.

“A two-state solution is humanity’s best hope to break the cycle of violence in the Middle East and to bring an end to the conflict, suffering and starvation in Gaza,” he said on Monday.

Israel, under increasing pressure to end the war in Gaza, has said recognising a Palestinian state “rewards terrorism”.

Since Saturday, five people have died as a result of starvation and malnutrition in Gaza, bringing the total number to 217 deaths, according to the Hamas-run health ministry.

It also said that in total more than 61,000 people have been killed as a result of Israel’s military campaign since 2023.

Israel launched its offensive in response to the Hamas-led attack on 7 October that year, in which about 1,200 people were killed and 251 others were taken hostage.

The Palestinian Authority, which controls parts of the Israeli-occupied West Bank, earlier said recognition of statehood shows growing support for self-determination of its people.

Albanese said the decision was made after his government received commitments from Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas that Hamas would play no role in any future state.

The move also comes after conversations with his counterparts in the UK, France, New Zealand, and Japan over the past fortnight, Albanese said.

“There is a moment of opportunity here, and Australia will work with the international community to seize it,” he told the media.

Last Sunday, a pro-Palestinian protest drew tens of thousands of supporters who walked across Sydney Harbour Bridge, a day after a court ruling allowed the demonstration to happen.
Bowen: UK move to recognise Palestinian state is a diplomatic crowbar to revive peace process
What does recognising a Palestinian state mean?

The US has stated it will not follow suit and believes that recognising Palestinian statehood would be rewarding Hamas.

Over the weekend, US Vice-President JD Vance reiterated the US had no plans to recognise a Palestinian state, citing a lack of functional government.

At a press conference on Sunday, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu criticised countries planning to recognise Palestinian statehood.

“To have European countries and Australia march into that rabbit hole… it is disappointing – and I think it’s actually shameful,” he said.

“They know what they would do if, right next to Melbourne or right next to Sydney, you had this horrific attack. I think you would do at least what we’re doing.”

Israel has come under fire in recent days over its plans to take over Gaza City, with UN ambassadors condemning the move which Netanyahu says is the “best way” to end the war.

Last year, Spain, Ireland and Norway formally recognised Palestine as a state, in the hopes it would encourage a ceasefire between Hamas and Israel.

The state of Palestine is currently recognised by 147 of the UN’s 193 member states.

At the UN, it has the status of a “permanent observer state”, allowing participation but no voting rights.

Disaster management education must be basic and accessible – Longdon

0

Philip Longdon is a member of the Movement for Change Philip Longdon is a member of the Movement for Change

A member of the Movement for Change, Philip Longdon, has called for an aggressive education and standardisation of emergency numbers among citizens to help facilitate rescue efforts in the event of disasters and accidents.

Speaking about poor management of accident victims and contamination of crime scenes on TV3’s New Day on August 11, 2025, he called for a unified or common emergency line for citizens to aid service institutions (Ghana National Fire Service, Ghana Police Service, NADMO) easily locate accident scenes and adequately prepare to help save lives.

“The numbers kept changing over the years and hence it’s difficult to keep track. However, I understand the number 112 for ambulance services works but can we have a common code for all situations to help make timely calls in times of distress?

“I also think these emergency numbers should be drummed into our ears from basic levels at the educational institutions, up to the universities and it must be accessible to help us mitigate the disasters that are claiming precious lives of citizens,” he said.

He added that transport operators and traders in the markets should all be romped in to learn the emergency numbers so that they are not left helpless when disasters strike.

Commenting on the unfortunate helicopter crash, he indicated that the situation, though painful, has opened the country up to learn about a lot of lapses in its disaster response systems.

He called on all citizens to not only brood over the massive loss of the eight comrades who fell in the line of duty, but to learn some lessons from the disaster and resolve to help in any way possible to end illegal mining, which is not only damaging the country’s vegetation, but its water bodies too.

His reaction follows the tragic helicopter accident on Wednesday, August 6, 2025, which claimed the lives of the Minister of Defence, Dr Edward Omane Boamah, was among others.

Also on board were Minister of Environment, Science and Technology, Dr Ibrahim Murtala Mohammed; a former Ashanti Regional Minister Samuel Sarpong; Muniru Limuna (Acting Deputy National Security Coordinator); and Samuel Aboagye, a former Parliamentary Candidate.

The crew members were Squadron Leader Peter Bafemi Anala, Flying Officer Mane-Twum Ampadu, and Sergeant Ernest Addo Mensah.

At the awards ceremony, Ghana Olympic Committee President, Richard Akpokavi praised the rapid growth of badminton in the country.

14th UCMAS National Competition climaxes at the Pentecost Convention Centre with 350 students taking home trophies.

0

Hundreds of brilliant young students from across Ghana gathered at the Pentecost Convention Centre in the Central Region to participate in the 14th Universal Concept Mental Arithmetic System (UCMAS) National Competition.

Themed “UCMAS: A Requisite Medium for Training 21st Century Students to Solve Global Challenges”, the two-day event, which run from August 9 to 10, saw participants showcase their skills in mental arithmetic and problem-solving.

The Universal Concept Mental Arithmetic System (UCMAS) is a global brain development program under the UCMAS Educational Group in Malaysia.

It was introduced to Ghana in September 2007 by Maurya Education Limited, starting with just two centres in Accra. Over the years, it has expanded to more than 150 learning centres with over 55 franchisees nationwide.

UCMAS Ghana organizes an annual national competition that brings together students from various schools to test their speed, accuracy, and creativity in mental arithmetic.

This year, about 140 schools participated in the competition who were expected to solve 200 questions in eights minutes on day one of the competition. In addition, a new competition was introduced, a national league competition which ensured the students applied the UCmaths concept to solve of arithmetic questions.

The winners got the chance to take home a trophy, certificates of achievement, branded school supplies, books, calculators and tablets among others as well as travel for the international competition in Georgia and Turkey for the 14th edition.

In his opening remarks, Director of Maurya Education Limited, Mr. Girish Gurbani described the Universal Concept of Mental Arithmetic System (UCMAS) as an essential tool for preparing young people to meet the demands of the 21st century.

He underscored the importance of the competition saying that “today’s world faced complex challenges including climate change, technological disruption, global inequality, pandemics, and a constantly changing job market hence these challenges demanded not just knowledge but thinking ability, innovation, resilience, and adaptability”.

“UCMAS nurtures cognitive flexibility, the ability to adapt, think critically, and process information efficiently. These are skills every 21st-century learner must have,” he said.

Mr. Gurbani outlined six major benefits of the programme: enhancing critical thinking and problem-solving, improving speed and accuracy, fostering creativity and innovation, building emotional strength and focus, promoting global competitiveness, and delivering real-world impact.

On global competitiveness, he stressed that countries that invested in skill development early would produce leaders with the intellectual capital to compete internationally.

He also revealed that UCMAS graduates were excelling in various fields beyond mathematics, including science, languages, arts, and entrepreneurship, because they had been trained to think differently and embrace complexity.

Mr. Gurbani announced that this year’s UCMAS International Competition would be held in Georgia in December, with participants from 83 countries.

He encouraged interested students to contact their centre managers to register, adding that the event would give them global exposure and an opportunity to meet peers from countries such as the USA, Canada, India, China, and Singapore.

He described UCMAS as “a visionary educational platform” that shaped not just the minds but also the character of future leaders.

He urged parents, educators, and policymakers to invest in such tools to ensure the next generation was ready to face global challenges with courage, intelligence, and innovation.

Parents and relatives of the students at the 14th UCMAS National Competition praised the organisers for sharpening children’s thinking abilities, boosting confidence, and fostering healthy competition.

They recounted improvements such as greater courage, attentiveness, and overall confidence, as well as valuable exposure that would benefit the children’s future.

They highlighted the programme’s role in enhancing cognitive skills without medication, citing an example of a participant who answered 200 questions in just eight minutes, and said such training would equip young people to make quick, sound decisions under pressure in real-life situations.

The students expressed satisfaction with the competition insisting that it will help them in their future professions.

They expressed appreciation to organizers of the competition and their parents for providing them with an opportunity that improves their cognition.

Growth of the Competition:

The 9th National Competition emphasized total brain development to tackle maths phobia and build confidence in children.
The 10th Edition, held at the Pentecost Convention Centre, featured 1,450 children from 70 schools, with 330 awardees in 17 categories. The 12th Edition in 2023 brought together about 2,000 pupils, resulting in 300 winners, and focused on enhancing comprehension, speed, and accuracy. The 13th Edition in 2024 drew over 3,000 students from 250 schools, with challenges such as solving 200 arithmetic questions in just 8 minutes.

Objectives:

UCMAS aims to develop concentration, memory, listening skills, comprehension, spatial awareness, and critical thinking through abacus visualization and rapid mental problem-solving. These skills not only boost performance in mathematics but also improve overall academic excellence.

International Achievements

Ghana’s champions often proceed to international competitions, recording notable successes:
2019 (Cambodia) – Four Ghanaian pupils ranked among the global top 12.

2023 (Malaysia) – Ghana won four awards, including a champion and runner-up titles.

2024 (India) – Ghana secured 17 trophies, including three championship wins, six first runner-ups, seven second runner-ups, and a bronze medal.

Over the years, UCMAS Ghana has evolved into a platform that builds the mental agility, confidence, and global competitiveness of young learners, while contributing to the development of critical problem-solving skills needed for the 21st century.

Alan Cash Fades as Ghana’s Political Moment Passes

0

Alan Kyerematen
Alan Cash

Alan Kyerematen, once buoyed by the hopeful nickname “Alan Cash,” finds his political influence waning after decades near Ghana’s summit of power.

Analysts now argue his best shot at the presidency slipped away years ago, despite early charisma that promised to bridge divides. What happened?

Many point to 2008 as the turning point. After losing the New Patriotic Party (NPP) primary to Nana Akufo-Addo, Kyerematen retreated from the spotlight.

Professor Ransford Gyampo of the University of Ghana believes that was the moment. “The country wanted someone connecting grassroots hopes with economic pragmatism,” Gyampo noted. “Alan had trade expertise and charm. But he stepped back instead of pushing forward.” Political analyst Dr. Franklin Oduro agrees, suggesting Kyerematen’s loyalty to Akufo-Addo cost him dearly as voters hungered for fresh leadership amid economic strain.

His “Alan Cash” persona, earned during successful stints as Trade Minister under President Kufuor, once symbolized resourcefulness and export growth. Yet his return as Trade and Industry Minister from 2017-2023 under Akufo-Addo proved less stellar.

Flagship projects like the One District, One Factory initiative drew mixed reviews. Critics saw unmet promises and sluggish results. “Linking his brand to an administration many felt underdelivered eroded his standing,” said Dr. Emmanuel Akwetey of IDEG. “The shine faded.”

Kyerematen’s recent exit from the NPP to run as an independent in 2024 underscores his diminished party clout. Few see a path to victory outside Ghana’s two-party system.

“Independents struggle in our polarized climate,” observed political science lecturer Dr. Michael Osei. “Without the NPP machine, his base looks too narrow.”

The lesson? Timing defines political legacies. Kyerematen’s peak appeal in the late 2000s wasn’t seized, leaving Ghanaians to wonder what might have been.

While he could still reframe his message around jobs or anti-corruption, history may recall him as the leader who hesitated when the door opened widest.

Ghana Inflation Dips to Near Four-Year Low Amid Mixed Price Signals

Inflation
Inflation

Ghana’s inflation rate fell to 12.1% in July, its lowest point since October 2021 and the seventh consecutive monthly decline, signaling sustained economic stabilization.

Yet beneath the headline optimism, prices crept up 0.7% month-on-month a reminder that cost pressures linger.

Food inflation cooled to 15.1%, while non-food inflation dropped to 9.5%. Imported goods saw sharper relief (10.0%) than local products (12.9%), and services inflation plummeted to 6.2%. Stark regional divides emerged: Upper West grappled with 24.8% inflation while the Central Region enjoyed just 7.7%.

Surprise drivers fueled July’s figures, from smoked herrings and yam to cinema tickets. Though electricity inflation plunged from June’s 139.3% to 39.1%, staples like ginger still posted sharp monthly jumps. The Ghana Statistical Service urged households to buy in bulk and conserve energy, advising businesses to streamline product lines and source locally.

For policymakers, the data offers cautious hope. While disinflation trends hold, the uptick in monthly prices and yam’s relentless climb demands vigilance. As Ghana balances progress against pockets of pressure, the path to lasting stability remains delicate.

Exclusive: Ex-Ghana U17 star Sulley begins training with Kotoko

0

Former Ghana U17 standout Ibrahim Sulley has begun training with Asante Kotoko ahead of the 2025/26 season after completing a free transfer, close sources have confirmed to GhanaSportsPage.

Although the club is yet to officially announce his signing, Sulley has already linked up with the squad for preseason preparations.

He was, however, not included in the official list for Kotoko’s preseason tour of Cape Coast.

The former Great Olympics forward returns to the domestic scene after a two-year spell abroad, having departed Olympics in 2023.

His arrival is seen as a key boost to Kotoko’s attacking options as the club aims to mount a strong challenge in the upcoming campaign.

Kotoko travelled to Cape Coast on Sunday, August 10, for the second phase of their preseason training, as they gear up for a busy 2025/26 season across domestic and continental competitions.

Pharmacy license not a shield from Ghana’s laws – Council

Alfred Nyantakyi (r) addressing pharmacy and OTC medicine sellers Alfred Nyantakyi (r) addressing pharmacy and OTC medicine sellers

Alfred Nyantakyi, the Upper East Regional Director of the Pharmacy Council of Ghana, says pharmacy or Over-The-Counter (OTC) medicine licenses do not insulate operators from the laws of Ghana.

He said some pharmacy and OTC medicine sellers thought that once they acquired such licenses from the Council to sell pharmaceutical products, they were immune to regulatory guidelines and laws of the country.

Addressing pharmacy and OTC medicine sellers at a day’s workshop organised by the Food and Drugs Authority (FDA), Mr Nyantakyi stressed that these licenses were no shields for operators against national laws.

“Some of you think that once you get the license, it is only the Pharmacy Council that can come to your facility to inspect. But if you read the law, it says an authorised officer can enter your premises at any reasonable hour to inspect,” he said.

Mr Nyantakyi reiterated that “a Pharmacy Council license doesn’t shield you from the FDA, the Health Facilities Regulatory Agency (HeFRA), or the Police. It doesn’t make you a special citizen. You are subject to all the laws of Ghana.”

He cautioned pharmacy and OTC medicine sellers who used their licenses to perform abortions, administer injections, intravenous medications, and sell narcotic drugs, saying, “When you are caught, the FDA, HeFRA, or the Police can deal with you.”

He told participants that even though the Council oversaw pharmacy practice in Ghana, it was not the only agency that could visit their facilities for inspection.

Mr Nyantakyi said the FDA and other regulatory and law enforcement agencies could visit the OTC medicine shops to inspect if they suspected any acts of illegality and advised them to pay attention to some of those things.

The Director expressed worry about some pharmacy and OTC medicine operators who admitted and treated clients in their facilities, saying the Council would act against any facility engaged in such practices in the region.

“We are on the lookout for these things, but I must say that the practitioners have evolved. They now do not engage in the act at the premises where we registered them. They rent places far away from the premises.

“So sometimes when we visit the facilities, we do not see anything unless there is a tip-off. We are doing our very best to track them, and we encourage members of the public to share information on such acts with us,” Mr Nyantakyi said.

He said it was the mandate of the Council to ensure the highest form of pharmacy practice in the interest of the public and not the interest of the practitioners, and urged the public to desist from intervening for operators who violated the law.

Nyantakyi also advised them to buy medicines only from the pharmacy or OTC shops and not from peddlers so that the Council could easily trace if there was a problem with the medicine.

‘Shatta Wale should just tell EOCO the truth about the Lamborghini’

DJ Slim is a Ghanaian media personality DJ Slim is a Ghanaian media personality

Media personality DJ Slim has taken aim at Dancehall musician Shatta Wale, urging him to come clean and disclose to the public and the EOCO the true ownership of the 2019 Lamborghini Urus, which was seized from his residence due to its connection to a fraud case.

DJ Slim’s call comes after EOCO, on August 5, 2025, confirmed that the luxury vehicle had been taken from Shatta Wale’s possession.

Hajia4Reall, Kofi Boat, Dada Joe: The Ghanaian celebrities who have faced US extradition so far

According to EOCO, the vehicle is linked to convicted Ghanaian American, Nana Kwabena Amuah, who was said to have been involved in a multi-million-dollar romance scam and business email compromise scheme in the United States.

Investigators believe the Lamborghini was purchased with proceeds from these crimes.

The car was in Shatta Wale’s possession at the time of the seizure, but DJ Slim questioned the artiste’s public claim that he bought the vehicle from a third party.

In a discussion with GhanaWeb Entertainment on X Space, he argued that if Shatta Wale truly acquired it legitimately, he should have no problem providing the name of the person who sold it to him.

He alleged that Shatta Wale is not telling the truth and that the Lamborghini does not belong to him.

Hajia4Reall, Kofi Boat, Dada Joe: The Ghanaian celebrities who have faced US extradition so far

According to Slim, the car was only kept at Shatta Wale’s residence as part of a business arrangement with the owners of Dream Car Collection, a luxury car rental company.

Under this arrangement, the vehicle could be retrieved and used for events or clients when needed.

DJ Slim went on to give examples of occasions where the Lamborghini was used for other purposes, including appearances at the Ghana Report event, and by Gospel musician Joe Mettle.

“I wonder what he seeks to achieve, this issue is very simple. If we are running with the Shatta narrative of ‘I bought a stolen car’ or ‘I bought a car from a third party’ just produce the third party and then you are good, you are clean, you don’t even need to worry about anything.

“He can’t do that because he is caught between a hard place and a rock, he still comes out telling the world that he bought the car whiles he knows perfectly that is not the case. It’s an agreement between him and the owners of Dream Car Collection that they would come for the car. It is not just the yellow Lamborghini, the Escalade is also part of it, several cars you have seen in his music video are a part of it from 2024 till now.

He added, “… it’s a rental so definitely if there is an event and they have people who are in need of a Lamborghini, they would definitely go for it and use in for work and then return it to Shatta Wale. It’s a type of relationship that they have. All he needs to do is tell the world or EOCO that this is it, so he can be freed that the car eno be my own but he is still telling the world that the car is his and that is where the issue is.”

Meanwhile, before the X space on August 8, 2025, GhanaWeb’s team reached out to Shatta Wale’s camp to have him participate in the discussion.

However, after a brief conversation, his representative did not follow up on the invitation.

‘I’ll die on a Sunday after attending service’ – Pastor Adeboye predicts his own death

Pastor Enoch Adejare Adeboye is the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God Pastor Enoch Adejare Adeboye is the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God

The General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Pastor Enoch Adejare Adeboye, has again spoken about a vision he had concerning his death.

According to Adeboye, when the time comes, he will pass on peacefully, on a Sunday, after attending church service and enjoying his favourite meal, pounded yam.

While speaking on the fourth day of the church’s ongoing International Convention, themed “The Overcomers”, the respected clergyman reiterated that death does not always come through prolonged illness. He had previously shared this same vision two years ago.

“I will die on a Sunday after attending service, eat my beloved pounded yam, and then pass on without any sickness,” Pastor Adeboye declared, affirming that his departure would be sudden and painless.

The cleric noted that he first shared this vision two years ago and was repeating it to reassure believers that death can be peaceful for those “in Christ.”

Blame KWAM 1, reconsider ValueJet sanction – Aircraft pilots urge NCAA

0

The National Association of Aircraft Pilots and Engineers (NAAPE) has urged the Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) to reconsider its sanction on a ValueJet pilot and her assistant over Abuja airport incident involving Fuji musician, King Wasiu Ayinde Marshal (a.k.a. KWAM 1).

This is contained in a statement signed by NAAPE’s National President, Mr Galadima Abednego, on Saturday in Lagos.

Tribune Online reports that the NCAA announced the suspension of the two pilots over safety violation after the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja incident involving KWAM 1.

Tribune Online further reports that the NCAA, subsequently blacklisted the Fuji star for six months and placed him on ‘No-fly list’ on the directive of the Minister of Aviation, Festus Keyamo, over unruly conduct at the ValueJet tarmac.

The Fuji star, who earlier denied allegations of unruly behaviours and that his flask contained alcoholic drinks while attempting to board Abuja-Lagos bound ValueJet flight, later apologised to Nigerians and the authorities following the sanctions.

Abednego called for a transparent, unbiased, and open investigation into the ValueJet tarmac incident involving the popular musician.

He agreed the ValueJet captain should have acted with optimal discretion but condemned the musician’s unruly behaviour.

According to him, aviation rests on two pillars—safety and security—and as a frontline professional association, NAAPE places the highest premium on these principles.

Abednego commended the Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development and the NCAA Director-General for prompt and decisive action in the public interest.

The President of the aircraft pilots and engineers insisted that KWAM 1 should be held culpable for his actions.

Abednego urged the NCAA to reconsider and review its decision against the ValueJet pilot and first officer, with a view to restoring their licences.

He said: “While we note the captain’s less than optimal discretion, we totally condemn KWAM 1’s crude, unruly behaviour and arrogant display.

“NAAPE calls on the authorities to lay the blame on KWAM 1 and make him face the full wrath of the law to prevent future incidents.

“While we are not against investigation, we demand it be open, transparent, and unbiased.

“The intense provocation caused by KWAM 1’s actions stretched the tolerance of seasoned pilots with unblemished records.

Abednego urged ValueJet to continue providing full support to the captain and first officer.

“NAAPE calls on all Nigerians, especially the flying public, to cooperate with lawful authorities in airports and with aviation workers.

“Passengers should always exercise restraint, knowing safety is aviation’s top priority. Let us cooperate with airlines to help them serve us better,” he said.

‘Your helicopter crash vision was sorcery, not prophecy’ – Pastor blasts Prophet Roja

0

Prophet Roja (R) has faced criticism over his helicopter crash prophecy Prophet Roja (R) has faced criticism over his helicopter crash prophecy

A Ghanaian pastor has criticised preacher Samuel Henry, popularly known as Prophet Roja, over his prophecy about a flight crash earlier in 2025.

Prophet Roja had claimed that God revealed to him a vision of a domestic flight crash in Ghana.

According to him, the vision showed a plane travelling from Accra to Kumasi that would crash shortly after takeoff on July 29, 2025.

He said the crash in his vision would be severe, with fewer than 20 people surviving. Because of this, he called on Christians in Ghana to pray to avert the disaster.

Nigel, Owusu Bempah, Roja and More: The prophets who prophesied about ‘Black Wednesday’

The prophecy has resurfaced online following the August 6 helicopter crash that killed two ministers, Dr Edward Omane Boamah and Dr Ibrahim Murtala Mohammed, along with six others.

Speaking at a vigil on August 9, 2025, the pastor lambasted Prophet Roja over how he handled the matter and questioned his credibility, saying he is not recognised as part of the prophetic ministry in Ghana.

The clergyman described the prophecy as “sorcery” and “divination,” arguing that genuine prophecy should offer a way out because “God reveals to warn, not to destroy.”

‘It pains me to think of them reduced today merely to names’ – President Mahama

“He [Roja] is not part of the prophetic and apostolic ministry. He doesn’t understand. Even in life, when you travel, some people will ask about your credentials if they want you to preach to them. They’ll ask about your level of experience. But it’s only in Ghana that someone will just get up, go on social media, and make these kinds of statements.

“I don’t believe this is what the Lord revealed. It’s divination. I’m telling you, that Roja man should be careful. He’s not mature at all. This is not prophecy. A prophecy must have a way out. This is what we call divination and sorcery. I can stand and make a statement, and I’ll make projections, and it will come to pass,” the pastor fumed in a viral video on X.

Pupils in Bimbilla lead peace walk against rising drug abuse

0

Some pupils of the Nuurul Imaan Islamic School in Bimbilla, in the Nanumba North Municipality of the Northern Region, took to the streets on Sunday morning to raise awareness about the growing problem of drug addiction among the youth.

Opioid abuse is on the rise in Nanung, a trend many residents say poses a grave threat to the future of children in the area. Drug addiction has become a major public concern in Bimbilla, with increasing numbers of young people abusing narcotics and putting their future at risk.

To address the issue, the Nuurul Imaan Islamic School organised a peace walk to highlight the dangers of drug use. The participants, mostly children aged between three and 10, carried placards and chanted messages calling for an end to the menace.

Many of them expressed fears about the uncertain future they face if drug use continues to spread among the youth.

The Head Mallam of the school told the media that the walk was aimed at sensitising the public to the dangers of drug abuse and encouraging parents to take greater responsibility in guiding their children.

Speaking to Channel One News on Sunday, August 10, Assembly Member for the Dangbe Electoral Area, Alhassan Adam Nuhu, described the children’s action as a wake-up call.

“We call on all residents of Bimbilla and its surroundings to help bring the drug menace in our society to a stop. The programme done by the children is a wake-up call for us to stand firm and fight drug abuse,” he said.

Parents who joined the children’s campaign said urgent action is needed to curb the menace before it further destroys lives.

Some of the pupils also shared their concerns: “The high intake of illicit drugs has taken centre stage in the world and is gradually taking away the future of our human resources. In light of this, we demand that awareness of the dangers be intensified to control the intake,” one pupil said.

Across the region, drug abuse among the youth remains widespread, with ghettos in nearly every community serving as hotspots. Residents and campaigners are urging authorities to act decisively, pointing out that many of the dealers are well known in their communities yet continue to operate freely.

The Ministry of Defence has shared the last images of the Z-9 helicopter belonging to the Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) moments before it took off from the Airforce Base in Accra on Wednesday, August 6, 2025.

In a video tribute, the Minister showed how the late Dr Edward Kofi Omane Boamah, the then Minister of Defence arrived at the Airforce Base dressed in all white around 8am for the trip.

Dr Omane Boamah reportedly told his bodyguard and the ministry’s cameraman to stay behind because there was not enough space on the helicopter to accommodate them on the trip.

He shook hands with the crew and waved as the chopper took off.

The aircraft departed Accra at 0912 hours en route to Obuasi but lost radar contact and subsequently crashed in the Adansi area of the Ashanti region.

It’s a blow to all those in public service who have devoted their lives towards nation-building and national affairs, as well as our Armed Forces. Cool And Elegant Gown Styles Women Can Sew With Different Fabrics

0

There’s a unique joy that comes with designing your own gown—it goes beyond fashion to become a statement of creativity, confidence, and personal identity. Every detail, from the first stitch to the final embellishment, is a reflection of your vision and style. It’s a chance to wear something that truly feels like you.

One of the most important steps in creating a stunning gown is choosing the right fabric. The material sets the tone for the entire design. If you’re going for a soft, sophisticated look, silk is a top contender. Its luxurious feel and fluid drape make it perfect for elegant evening wear or formal events. For warmer climates or outdoor ceremonies, chiffon is a beautiful choice. Light and airy, it adds a dreamy, romantic flow that enhances movement and grace.

If your style leans more structured and timeless, linen is a strong option. Its breathable, crisp texture lends itself well to both casual elegance and polished sophistication. For a more dramatic flair, velvet stands out with its deep tones and plush finish—ideal for statement gowns that leave a lasting impression.

To take your design to the next level, consider playing with layers and textures. A lace or tulle overlay can add depth and a touch of delicacy, while detailed embellishments such as beadwork or embroidery bring a sense of artistry and refinement.

The silhouette and fit of the gown are what bring everything together. A simple cut in a high-quality fabric can be just as breathtaking as an intricate design when executed thoughtfully. Whether your gown is sleek and contemporary or soft and whimsical, it should reflect your personality and make you feel confident, radiant, and uniquely you.

Catholic Priest Speaks on Why Dr Omane Boamah Ignored Prophet Roja’s Prophecy

A Catholic priest has slammed popular Ghanaian pastor, Samuel Henry, popularly known as Prophet Roja, following the Ghana Armed Forces helicopter crash.

In a video sighted by YEN.com.gh, the priest condemned the prophecy and explained why Dr Edward Omane Boamah ignored it.

He accused Prophet Roja of using divination and sorcery and said his prophecies were not from God.

“Roja should be careful over there. He’s a small boy. This is not a prohecy, a prophecy must have a way out,” the priest said in a video that has since gone viral.

The priest’s comments come after eight people, including Ghana’s Defence Minister, Dr Omane Boamah and Environment, Science, Technology and Innovation Minister, Dr Murtala Muhammed, passed on in a ghastly helicopter crash.

The sad event occurred on Wednesday, August 6, 2025, when the eight were on their way to a programme in Obuasi.

Before the incident, Prophet Roja asked who the Defence Minister was during one of his prophecies and asked his congregants or anyone close to him to share the video with the Minister or ask him to contact him.

Although he did not disclose the reason for his request, it was evident that he was about to deliver a doom prophecy concerning the Minister, as he had done on many occasions in the past. Unfortunately, the late Minister did not meet with him before the tragic incident occurred.

Speaking on why Dr Omane Boamah may have ignored the Prophet’s request to reach out to him, the priest noted that Dr Omane Boamah was a Catholic and did not believe Prophet Roja’s claim.

Volta Council of State rep. calls for urgent development action at Mepe’s 69th Afenorto Festival

0

The 69th Afenorto Festival in the Mepe Traditional Area became a platform for both solemn reflection and a strong call to action as the Council of State Member for the Volta Region, Gabriel Tanko Kwamigah, outlined a clear roadmap for the area’s development.

Opening his address, Mr Kwamigah paid tribute to the eight prominent Ghanaians who lost their lives in a recent helicopter crash, including Defence Minister Edward Kofi Omane Boamah and Environment, Science and Technology Minister Ibrahim Murtala Muhammed.

He described the tragedy as a national wound and urged that their sacrifice be remembered.

“This year’s gathering comes at a time of national sorrow. Our hearts are shattered… may we never have to meet such a fate in the line of duty to our nation,” he said.

Mr Kwamigah outlined key priorities for Mepe’s growth, with the urgent rehabilitation of road networks to connect the town to neighbouring markets, upgrading local water systems to ensure a clean and reliable supply, and expanding healthcare facilities with better equipment and trained medical staff.

He emphasised the need for quality education alongside vocational training and apprenticeship programmes to prepare the youth for job creation and entrepreneurship.

Acknowledging agriculture as the community’s economic backbone, he called for the introduction of improved farming techniques, access to modern equipment, and the formation of cooperatives to secure better prices for farmers. He also highlighted opportunities in agro-processing, textiles, crafts, and tourism to diversify income sources.

Recognising the central role of women in the local economy, Mr Kwamigah urged equal access to training, funding, and leadership positions. He further encouraged the establishment of a structured framework for the Mepe diaspora to invest in local projects, scholarships, and training initiatives.

He warned of the impact of climate change and stressed the importance of soil protection, reforestation, and sustainable fishing practices to safeguard livelihoods.

Commending Torgbui Kwasi Nego VI for his leadership and the festival organisers for sustaining the Afenorto tradition, H.E. Kwamigah urged unity in action.

“Let us improve our roads, secure clean water, strengthen our schools, and create jobs for our youth. Let us preserve our traditions while embracing new opportunities for growth,” he concluded.

The Afenorto Festival, celebrated since 1874, continues to serve as both a homecoming for the people of Mepe and a platform for charting a shared vision for the community’s future.

A Rising Fashion Statement with Style and Sophistication

0

In recent years, men’s native wear has emerged as more than just traditional attire—it has become a bold and fashionable statement for modern men. Whether it’s for weddings, cultural festivals, or even formal events, native wear is fast becoming the go-to option for those who want to embrace heritage while staying stylish.

As fashion evolves, so too does the way men approach native styles like agbadas, kaftans, and senator suits. According to Nigerian fashion designer Tolu Adeboye, “Native wear is no longer limited to tradition—it’s now an expression of identity, pride, and modern elegance.”

But standing out in native wear isn’t just about putting on the clothes; it’s about how you wear them. If you’re looking to step up your style game, here are a few tips to make your native wear look even more dashing.

1. Get the Fit Just Right

Fit is everything. A perfectly tailored outfit will always outshine an expensive, but ill-fitting one. Whether it’s a crisp kaftan or a regal agbada, ensure your native wear fits your body shape without being too tight or too loose. Tailoring adds structure and polish, instantly enhancing your appearance.

Style Tip: Take your measurements professionally and have your outfits tailored accordingly. Custom-made pieces often have more personality and better fit.

2. Accessorize Thoughtfully

Accessories can transform a simple native outfit into a head-turning ensemble. Traditional elements like coral beads, hand-crafted bracelets, walking sticks, caps (like fila, isiagu, or hausa caps), or even stylish sunglasses can give your look a unique edge.

Style Tip: Choose accessories that complement, not overpower, your outfit. The goal is to add a cultural touch and personality—not clutter.

3. Play with Fabrics and Textures

Native wear gives you room to explore an exciting range of materials. Silk, brocade, linen, velvet, and cotton can all offer different vibes depending on the occasion. Mixing textures subtly—like pairing a matte cotton top with silk embroidery—can make your outfit stand out without looking too busy.

Style Tip: Choose breathable fabrics for comfort, especially in hot climates, and reserve heavier fabrics like velvet for nighttime or indoor events.

4. Pay Attention to Footwear and Grooming

The shoes you wear can either complete or clash with your outfit. Traditional options like leather slippers, loafers, or native sandals (like palm slippers) often pair well. Grooming is just as crucial—well-kept hair, a neat beard, and clean nails help enhance your overall style.

Style Tip: Match your shoe color with the tone of your outfit or accessories for a cohesive look.

5. Experiment with Colors and Embellishments

Gone are the days when native wear was restricted to earth tones. Today’s fashion-forward men aren’t afraid to wear bold colors like royal blue, emerald green, or mustard yellow. Embroidery, appliqué, and modern cuts can further elevate your attire.

Style Tip: Start with neutral or dark shades if you’re new to bold colors, then gradually incorporate more vibrant hues as you get comfortable.

Founder and leader of Heaven’s Gate Ministries, Prophet Nicholas Osei, popularly known as Kumchacha, has strongly condemned the wave of prophecies that emerged after the recent military helicopter crash in the Ashanti Region.

Speaking as a guest on United Showbiz, Kumchacha described most of the prophecies surrounding the tragic incident as “nonsense” and unnecessary, stressing that they lacked any logical or spiritual basis.

He cited one particular prophecy from a self-acclaimed prophet in Kumasi, Ashanti Region, who claimed the crash occurred because evangelist Nana Agradaa had been imprisoned warning that more crashes would happen if she was not released.

Kumchacha dismissed such statements outright, calling them baseless and misleading. He cautioned the public against falling for sensational religious claims, noting that tragedies should not be exploited for attention or personal gain.

The respected man of God urged Ghanaians to remain prayerful and discerning, especially in times of national tragedy.

Amaarae releases highly anticipated album, Black Star

0

Avant-garde international pop star Amaarae shares her highly anticipated album BLACK STAR–out now via Interscope Records.

Known for breaking the mold with her boundary-pushing blend of alternative, pop, R&B, and Afrobeats, Amaarae presents her boldest mix of global sonics yet with BLACK STAR, sending up her Ghanaian roots as a rallying cry for youth culture around the world.

The diaspora-hopping BLACK STAR is a futuristic statement of cultural pride through an ever-shifting palette of ghettotech, house, techno, baile funk, and African dance genres, stamped with Amaarae’s signature softness and hypnotic vocals and featuring contributions from PinkPantheress, Naomi Campbell, Bree Runway, Starkillers, and Charlie Wilson.

It recontextualizes Ghanaian and African music with pop and club sounds across time and space, connecting them with the roots of modern-day dance music, house and techno.

Alongside the album arrives an official video for “Fineshyt”, shot in Ghana, the visual trails a magnetic young woman moving through club scenes and city streets with sensual, self-assured quiet confidence.

Amaarae shares about “Fineshyt”, “1998 had Blue by French Duo Eiffel 65, 1999 had Believe by Cher & at the turn of a new millennium Modjo gave us Lady. Now, we’re at the mark of a quarter century, and Fineshyt is my contribution to a sound and feeling that not only took over clubs but minds, bodies and souls alike.

Music is such a beautiful and special medium and being an artiste has been God’s greatest gift to me. I remember being a little girl in Ghana hearing Believe by Cher and immediately being entranced.

The hard tuned vocals, the glittery dance beat, and that hook! Do you believe in life after love! What a sentiment. A true manifesto of life. My favorite thing to do as an artiste is take an inspired concept and flip it on its head. In this case, Fineshyt is Belive’s bad ass play cousin or maybe its evil twin sister!”

BLACK STAR is dedicated to the alternative youth of Ghana, who are finding their footing each and every day, as well as Black baddies all over the world.

In July, Amaarae released the effortlessly sleek single “Girlie-Pop”, accompanied with a video, directed by Omar Jones. Visually, “Girlie Pop” is a bold and sensual glimpse into the beat-driven ecstasy when two souls collide and the music provides the necessary alchemy, in and out of the club.

Just prior in June, Amaarae released the world-building single “S.M.O” alongside the announcement of BLACK STAR, exploring themes of sexual liberation and empowerment across a mix of highlife, kpanlogo, and zouk music.

On “B2B,” she uses DJ lingo to make a playful song about “love that is taken but given back at the same time,” she explains. With its lilting melodies and cool-girl energy, “Fineshyt” is a soundtrack for women and femmes that highlights “the confidence of being feminine and feeling beautiful.”

In April, Amaarae made history at Coachella where she debuted as the first Ghanaian artiste to grace the Indio stage. Her headline-making set saw the iconoclast playing energetic songs from fellow Ghanaian artists and exciting fans with unreleased previews of new music from BLACK STAR, in between her shaving her head on stage as a representation of “the new kind of freedom” the incoming era represents.

She followed suit in June at Governor’s Ball, rocking the stage while Ghanaian fans waved their flags high, and at an electrifying set at Glastonbury.

This summer, she brought her unforgettable stage presence to festivals around the globe including AfroNation, Lollapalooza, Osheaga, and more, and will continue in the coming weeks at Maiden Voyage Festival, Flow Festival, Lowlands Festival, Pukkelpop, and Best Day Ever.

The celebratory festival performances follow the success of Amaarae’s sold-out tour behind Fountain Baby, which was praised as among the best albums of the year by Pitchfork, Rolling Stone, and The New Yorker and was Metacritic’s #1 album of 2023.

Featuring the effortlessly suave singles “Angels in Tibet” and “Reckless and Sweet,” the Afrobeats-flipping LP launched Amaarae into global pop stardom, landing her on the cover of NME, Paste, and Clash, as well as touring with Sabrina Carpenter, support billing on Childish Gambino’s tour, and an H&M x Mugler campaign.

Amaarae has long championed self-expression ever since breaking out with her 2017 single “Fluid,” an ode to living in between different labels and modes.

Her astronomical rise arrived with the release of her 2020 debut album THE ANGEL YOU DON’T KNOW, boosted by the now-platinum, globally charting “Sad Girlz Luv Money (Remix)” featuring Kali Uchis and Moliy.

She stepped into the Black Panther cinematic universe with “A Body, A Coffin,” her contribution to Marvel’s 2022 Wakanda Forever Prologue EP. And she’s since exhibited her versatility through collaborations with Childish Gambino, Stormzy, Janelle Monáe, 6LACK, Kaytranada, Babyface, and Tiwa Savage, among others.

Using songwriting as a way to “metabolize feelings”, Amaarae sees BLACK STAR as a full-circle moment, harkening back to when she recorded her first Passionfruit Summers EP in her mother’s house in Ghana. “This era is about vindication, for myself and my community,” she declares.

Elegant Organza Outfit Styles Every Lady Should Try

0

Organza has become one of the go-to fabrics for women who want to make a bold, classy, and fashionable statement. Known for its light, sheer texture and subtle shine, organza adds a soft, ethereal feel to any outfit. From weddings to red carpet events and even stylish casual outings, organza outfits can transform your look into something truly unforgettable.

One of the most popular organza outfit styles is the organza sleeve dress. Whether it’s a bodycon gown or a flared midi dress, organza sleeves add a touch of drama and elegance. The puffiness of the sleeves creates a royal look, especially when paired with bold makeup and minimal accessories.

Another trending style is the organza top, often worn with jeans, palazzo pants, or skirts. These tops can come with layered frills, bow ties, or ruffles, giving off a chic and modern vibe. For formal events, an organza blouse paired with a pencil skirt or tailored trousers is a perfect choice.

Organza gowns are also gaining attention, especially for weddings, dinner events, and parties. These gowns can be styled with embroidery, sequins, or lace to enhance the design. Some brides also prefer organza for their wedding dresses because of its luxurious feel and beautiful flow.

Don’t forget organza overlays, where the main outfit is made of a different fabric, but covered with organza for a sophisticated layered effect. This is often seen in evening dresses and formal wear.

To rock an organza outfit effortlessly, pair it with the right accessories—small clutch bags, delicate jewelry, and classy heels work best. Whether it’s a casual outing or a big event, organza helps you stand out with grace and confidence.

Abosso Chief urges Lands Ministry to tackle galamsey

As calls mount for the government to seize the momentum from the recent military helicopter disaster to intensify the fight against illegal mining, the Chief of Abosso in the Western Region, Nana Akwasi Appiah, has appealed to the Lands and Natural Resources Ministry and the Interior Ministry to take swift action against escalating social vices in his community.

Addressing a press conference at Abosso in the Tarkwa-Nsuaem Municipality on Sunday, August 10, Nana Akwasi Appiah expressed grave concern over what he described as a “galamsey-infested” environment that is breeding drug abuse, prostitution, and other destructive behaviours among the youth.
He explained that although the government had shut down the community mining programme in the area, a section of the site, popularly known as gangway, had been taken over by unidentified youth engaging in illegal mining activities and promoting harmful social practices.

“Illegal mining at the gangway site is destroying the culture and moral fabric of our youth,” he lamented, urging the government to permanently close the area and restore order.

Abosso, long known as a hub for both large- and small-scale mining, has historically attracted an influx of young people from across the country. However, the chief warned that without urgent intervention, the community risked losing an entire generation to the adverse effects of galamsey-related vices.
Nana Akwasi Appiah dismissed suggestions that his public outcry was politically motivated or that he was acting out of personal loss.

“We have seen that the current government has discontinued Community Mining, and therefore, we want the land to be reverted to us, the owners, and the illegal miners removed.

“We, the traditional leaders of Abosso, tried to have discussions with the current operators of our gangway mining site, but our discussions have not been fruitful.

“So they have to stop the gangway operators because of the drug abuse going on there, including Indian Hemp, Tramol, and red-red, which we, the chiefs, don’t want here.

“We therefore call on the Ministers for Interior and Lands and Natural Resources to help the chiefs stop. The place is infested with fake Rastafarians, which is not good for the town. This will pave the way for the new government proposals to work,” he said.

Popular Kannywood actress, Rahama Sadau, has married a yet-to-be-identified partner in a private nikkah ceremony on Saturday.

The low-key wedding reportedly took place at the Atiku Auwal Mosque in Unguwan Rimi, Kaduna.

A video from the event showed clerics and close family members present during the prayer session.

Sadau also confirmed the marriage in a post on Instagram later that day, sharing moments from the ceremony.

In another scene, she was seen celebrating with her sisters and close friends during the wedding festivities.

Her marriage comes after years of backlash from some members of her Arewa fan base, who have criticised her dressing and flamboyant fashion style as being at odds with traditional northern theatre practices.

She wrote, “Bismillahir Rahmanir Raheem…Alhamdulillah, My Nikkah was done today.

“I am officially a Mrs. A new chapter unfolds. My heart is overflowing with gratitude and joy.

“May the Almighty bless our union with tranquility, everlasting love, happiness, and abundant prosperity.

“We kindly ask for your prayers as we step into this beautiful new journey together. ”
