African women are renowned for their vibrant sense of style, which beautifully merges tradition with modernity. Across the continent, fashion is not only a reflection of individual taste but also a celebration of rich cultural heritage, craftsmanship, and identity. From stunning prints to elegant silhouettes, African fashion offers an abundance of styles that empower women to express their uniqueness, creativity, and pride in their roots.
One of the most iconic elements of African fashion is the use of bold, colorful prints. Fabrics like Ankara, Kente, and Dashiki are celebrated for their vivid colors, intricate patterns, and symbolic meanings. These prints are often incorporated into dresses, skirts, blouses, and head wraps, creating a striking and regal look. For instance, a well-tailored Ankara dress with a flowing A-line silhouette can be both casual and formal, depending on the occasion. Many African women also style their outfits with matching accessories, including statement jewelry, beaded necklaces, and vibrant headpieces, adding an extra layer of elegance to their ensembles.
Another popular style is the traditional wrap-around skirt or “kanga,” often paired with a fitted top or a blouse, offering both comfort and sophistication. These wraps are particularly popular in East Africa and are worn during both everyday events and special occasions.
For those seeking more contemporary looks, African designers have blended traditional fabrics with modern cuts. For example, the peplum top, pencil skirts, and tailored pants made from African prints are an increasingly popular trend, allowing women to maintain cultural roots while embracing global fashion trends.
Moreover, African hairstyles are an essential part of a woman’s style. From intricate braids and twists to natural afros and locs, African hairstyles are diverse and often used to complement the overall look. These styles are not only beautiful but also have deep cultural significance.
In conclusion, African fashion is a dynamic and diverse landscape where creativity knows no bounds. Whether embracing traditional fabrics and silhouettes or blending modern cuts with timeless prints, African women have a myriad of stunning styles to choose from, each serving as a powerful expression of identity, beauty, and cultural pride.

The Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) has assessed the personal income tax of Richard Nii Armah Quaye, founder of Bills Micro-Credit, at not less than GH¢30 million. This figure is provisional and may rise as GRA officials continue their investigations into his financial activities.
As part of the inquiries, it has been revealed that Mr. Quaye has already paid GH¢11.4 million in import duties for a vehicle he acquired.
The ongoing tax assessment pertains to outstanding personal income tax obligations. This review is part of standard regulatory procedures aimed at ensuring compliance among entrepreneurs.
The scrutiny comes shortly after Mr. Quaye’s lavish 40th birthday celebration, which garnered considerable attention on social media.
Meanwhile, Classfmonline.com has published that the Importers and Exporters Association of Ghana (IEAG) has strongly criticised GRA for its handling of tax-related issues involving renowned businessman and founder of Bills Micro-Credit, Mr. Richard Nii Armah Quaye.
In a press statement issued on Monday, and signed by Samson Asaki Awingobit, the Executive Secretary expressed concern over the GRA’s decision to publicly freeze Mr. Quaye’s bank accounts over alleged tax discrepancies.
“If the GRA has concerns about his tax compliance, there are diplomatic and professional channels through which these matters can be addressed, rather than resorting to actions that appear to publicly humiliate and vilify him,” the statement read.
The Association further called on the GRA to adopt a more constructive approach when dealing with business leaders, citing examples from other African countries like Kenya and Nigeria, where successful entrepreneurs are actively supported and protected.
The IEAG warned that Ghana risks discouraging business growth if it continues to use state institutions in ways that undermine local entrepreneurs.
The statement also noted that Mr. Quaye, like any other businessman, deserves the opportunity to address any tax discrepancies through fair and confidential processes.
The IEAG urged the GRA to engage Ghanaian business leaders professionally to ensure a thriving business environment that supports economic development.
The Association reaffirmed its solidarity with Mr. Quaye, calling on authorities to handle such matters with professionalism and discretion, to maintain investor confidence in Ghana’s economy.

Former Majority Leader Osei Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu has raised concerns over the competence of individuals mandated to establish the Ghana Gold Board (GoldBod).
According to him, those appointed lack the necessary expertise and experience to ensure efficiency in managing the country’s gold resources.
“It is a good intent that they have expressed. You expect to populate the board with people with demonstrable competencies in commodity trading and so on. If you take people with no work experience—job for the boys—we can’t leave the country’s gold in the hands of such people,” he said.
The former MP warned that any missteps at the initial stage could have dire consequences for the country.
“If we get it wrong at the very outset, it will be dangerous for us as a country,” he added.
He made these remarks at a public dialogue on the 2025 National Budget, organized by the Kumasi Bloc Members of Parliament.
As part of the NDC’s manifesto promise, the GoldBod is being established to regulate the small-scale mining sector. The Acting CEO of the Precious Minerals Marketing Commission, Sammy Gyamfi, is leading the formation of the board, which has been engaging stakeholders in the mining industry.
The Kumasi Dialogue was themed:
Addressing other aspects of the budget, Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu questioned the legality of allowances proposed for Assembly members.
“If the President says he is giving the Assembly members allowances, where is it going to come from? It is going to come out of the public funds, especially the consolidated fund, but the constitution doesn’t allow that,” he said.
He also dismissed the classification of the payments as allowances, stating, “The Finance Minister and Local Government Minister say the amount will be an allowance. That is laughable because the constitution defines emoluments to include allowances.”
On gender-related provisions in the budget, he described the allocation for the proposed women’s bank as inadequate.
“With the capital requirement for the establishment of banks set at GH₵400 million, which was equivalent to $100 million at the time it was determined, what can GH₵51 million, which is now equivalent to $3.2 million, do for the 17 million women of Ghana? Contained in the GH₵51 million is the amount needed to set up the bank,” he noted.
The former MP further indicated that the economic conditions of the Ashanti Region could be improved through proper environmental practices, which would help reduce galamsey and positively impact cocoa and timber production.
The Ghana Football Association’s Disciplinary Committee has placed a three-month ban on Elmina Sharks President Papa Kwesi Nduom for misconduct.
This follows the violent attacks on match officials during the match involving Elmina Sharks and Swedru All Blacks in the Division One League on February 16, 2025.
The football governing body charged Nduom for inciting attacks on the referees.
He was found guilty for interfering with the match by entering the inner perimeter and field of play without authorization to protest a penalty decision.
In addition to the ban, the Elmina Sharks bankroller has also been fined GHS10,000 and warned “any further misconduct will attract severe sanctions”.
The move by the FA is to curb the growing incidents of hooliganism in the sport.
Meanwhile, Nduom had accused the hierarchy of the GFA of conflict of interest and is considering “quitting” the running of Elmina Sharks.

The Minority Leader, Alexander Afenyo-Markin, has accused President John Mahama of using the justice system as a tool for political persecution rather than governance.
Speaking during his turn of the debate on the 2025 Budget Statement yesterday, he asserted that the ruling government is deliberately targeting its opponents instead of addressing the pressing issues facing the nation.
“You can arrest all of us, but we will remain resolute. No amount of intimidation will break our spirit. In 2028, we will defeat you and restore true governance to this country,” he declared.
Mr. Afenyo-Markin warned that the current government’s focus on persecuting political rivals rather than pursuing national development would lead to its downfall.
“A government that prioritises persecution over progress is bound to fail. Ghanaians are watching, and they will decide in 2028,” he cautioned.
He further urged his fellow opposition members to remain steadfast, emphasising that they should not be deterred by what he described as “politically motivated arrests.”
The Minority Leader also accused the government of bias in handling legal matters involving former officials, arguing that the justice system is being weaponised against dissenting voices.
“All you know is persecution. Instead of focusing on the economy and the welfare of Ghanaians, you have chosen to hunt down political opponents,” he remarked.
He stressed that justice must be pursued without malice or political interference, warning that any attempt to manipulate legal institutions for political gain threatens the country’s democratic principles.
“Justice must be pursued without malice or political interference. What we are witnessing is a clear attempt to weaponise state institutions against those who disagree with the government,” Mr. Afenyo-Markin stated.
He declared the Minority’s resolution to continue the fight for a fair and just governance system.

The agreement aims to facilitate the return of looted objects from the Asante kingdom,
In a significant step towards restitution and reparation, the Manhyia Palace Museum and Justice and Repair, a movement advocating for the return of stolen cultural artifacts, have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU).
The agreement aims to facilitate the return of looted objects from the Asante kingdom, promoting cultural cooperation and reconciliation.
Signed on Tuesday, March 25, 2025, at the Manhyia Palace in Kumasi, Ghana, the MOU was witnessed by staff from both institutions.
Ivor Agyemang-Duah, Director of the Manhyia Palace Museum, and Yvonne Darkwa Opoku, Executive Council Member of Justice and Repair, signed the agreement.
The partnership seeks to empower the Manhyia Palace Museum through advocacy and negotiation to reclaim stolen artifacts.
This effort is bolstered by the recent return of 32 royal objects by the British Museum and the Victoria and Albert Museum in April 2024.
These golden artifacts, taken during the Anglo-Asante Wars, are now housed at the Manhyia Palace Museum.
With the support of Justice and Repair, headquartered in Accra, Ghana, the museum plans to research and negotiate with institutions holding Asante artifacts, ensuring their safe return.
Ivor Agyemang-Duah, in his speech, stated, “The agreement between the two will empower the Manhyia Palace Museum through advocacy and negotiations to reclaim artifacts that were stolen from the kingdom in the past.”
Yvonne Darkwa Opoku, on her part, emphasized the importance of advocacy campaigns to raise awareness about the significance of repatriating cultural artifacts to their rightful owners.
“This milestone agreement marks a crucial step towards rectifying historical injustices and promoting cultural heritage preservation,” Yvonne Darkwa Opoku stated.
Besides Zambia, Chad, and Ethiopia, which have already defaulted on their debt, Ghana is the latest country to face this predicament.
Speaking at the 5th edition of the Afrodad Media Initiative ongoing in Johannesburg, South Africa, the Executive Director of the African Forum and Network on Debt and Development (AFRODAD), Jason Rosario Braganza, stated that some countries are paying more in debt service interest repayments than on investments in public services.
He said, “Indeed, four countries have already defaulted on their debt: these are Zambia, Chad, Ethiopia, and, more recently, Ghana. Close to half of the continent’s countries are paying more in debt service interest repayments than on investments in public services such as education, health, water, and sanitation.”
According to him, the lack of accessible debt statistics and public reporting is undermining the public’s ability to interact and hold governments accountable.
Braganza said the training initiative aims to enhance the media’s capacity and promote factual, effective, and consistent reporting on debt and development issues.
It would be recalled that the Akufo-Addo-led government defaulted on its domestic and external debt in December 2022 and subsequently launched the Domestic Debt Exchange Programme to restructure domestic credit.
As it stands now, Ghana is expected to pay approximately GH¢150.3 billion in debt service by 2028.
The debt service obligation for this financial year is also substantial, with significant payments due in February (GH¢9.9 billion), July (GH¢6.2 billion), and August (GH¢10.1 billion).
Meanwhile, the Minister of Finance, Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson, during the 2025 budget presentation, said measures have been put in place to restore fiscal responsibility through enhanced public financial management.
He added that the government is committed to cutting expenditures to reduce the country’s fiscal deficit and public debt.

Social media personality Twene Jonas has defended businessman Richard Nii Quaye following criticism over his extravagant 40th birthday celebration.
In a video, Jonas said the backlash was unnecessary and called on critics to leave the millionaire alone. Quaye’s birthday party, held at the Black Star Square, attracted top figures from business, entertainment, and politics.
Videos from the event showed Tanzanian musician Diamond Platnumz also in a yellow long-sleeve shirt and jeans, celebrating with the businessman.
The likes of Davido, Sarkodie and Stonebwoy were also at the event and even performed. The businessman, who recently made headlines for acquiring a private jet and a Bugatti Chiron, ensured his birthday matched his high-profile lifestyle. Guests at the event included Ghanaian business moguls Ibrahim Mahama, Osei Kwame Despite, and Ofori Sarpong. Ga Mantse, King Tackie Teiko Tsuru II, also attended. Nigerian stars Rita Dominic, Richard Mofe-Damijo, and Toke Makinwa made appearances, while Ghanaian musicians Sarkodie, Stonebwoy, and KiDi performed.
After the party, reports emerged that the Financial Intelligence Centre had allegedly placed a hold on accounts linked to Quaye’s Bills Micro-Credit, Quick Credit, and Investment Micro-Credit. There were claims that the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) was conducting a personal income tax assessment on Quaye, though the amount involved was not disclosed. Citi Business News also reported that one of Quaye’s vehicles had previously been subject to an import duty, but the matter was resolved.
In his video, Twene Jonas addressed claims that Quaye’s wealth was not acquired through honest means. He argued that Richard Nii Quaye should be supported instead of being scrutinised. Many Ghanaians who reacted to his comments agreed with his stance.

Vice President of IMANI Africa, Kofi Bentil, has disagreed with the Supreme Court’s ruling on an application seeking to restrain President John Dramani Mahama from removing the immediate past Inspector General of Police (IGP) George Akuffo Dampare and other security agency heads.
A five-member panel ruled that the application for an interlocutory injunction does not prevent the President from carrying out his public and administrative duties.
The application, filed by IMANI Ghana and Security Analyst Professor Kwesi Aning, aimed to stop the President from replacing the security service heads until the final determination of the case.
However, Kofi Bentil disagreed with the court’s decision.
“I was impressing on the court that even though the act has happened, in our view in law, it is void or voidable. And I was trying to impress on the court to take that kind of step, to send a message to everybody.
“Now what the court has said is that, as far as they are concerned, the process we filed, which will be ruled upon on May 7, will have a prospective effect. It will have a future effect.”

Cyber Crime Unit Releases Okatakyie Afrifa But Retains Electronic Devices
News Hub Creator11h
The Cyber Crime Unit of the Ghana Police Service has released media personality Okatakyie Afrifa following his recent arrest, though investigators have kept possession of his mobile phones and laptops for further examination. The development comes after Afrifa was taken into custody for reasons yet to be officially disclosed by authorities.
A circulating video shows the outspoken commentator leaving police custody, though the circumstances surrounding his arrest remain unclear. Sources suggest the detention may be connected to his online commentary, but police officials have not confirmed the specific allegations prompting their investigation.
The seizure of Afrifa’s electronic devices indicates authorities are likely examining digital evidence as part of their probe. Legal experts note that while temporary device confiscation is standard procedure in cybercrime investigations, the extended retention of property requires proper judicial oversight.
Afrifa’s release without immediate charges raises questions about the nature of the investigation, with free speech advocates monitoring whether the case involves commentary protected under constitutional provisions. As the situation develops, observers await official police communication regarding both the grounds for arrest and the status of the ongoing investigation.
The incident highlights growing tensions between digital free expression and cybercrime enforcement in Ghana’s evolving media landscape. Until authorities provide fuller details, the precise implications of this case for press freedom and online speech remain uncertain.

Sports Minister Kofi Adams has defended the decision to keep the Black Stars’ budget for their recent 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Chad and Madagascar undisclosed.
Adams explained that revealing the budget before the matches could have distracted the team’s focus. Speaking in an interview, he questioned the necessity of publicizing financial details, emphasizing that it would not have contributed to the team’s performance.
“People kept asking me to disclose the budget, but I kept wondering—what difference would it make for the team ahead of the games?” he stated.
He added that such matters are carefully considered before decisions are made, ensuring that unnecessary distractions are avoided.
The strategy appeared effective, as the Black Stars delivered dominant performances, securing a 5-0 win over Chad and a 3-0 victory against Madagascar to strengthen their qualification bid.
With these results, Ghana now leads Group I with 15 points from six games, edging closer to securing a spot in the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

Ghanaian journalist Kwame Nkrumah Tikese has criticized the Ashanti Regional Minister, Dr Frank Amoakohene, for his outburst at personnel of the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) during a fire outbreak at Adum, Kumasi, on March 21, 2025.
According to Kwame Nkrumah Tikese, the minister lacks the technical expertise to assess the fire incident and, therefore, had no right to reprimand the fire officers in the manner he did.
Speaking on his Okay FM morning show on March 25, 2025, he accused the minister of chasing social media fame instead of focusing on his core responsibilities.
“The Ashanti Regional Minister, Dr Amoakohene, is engaging in too much showmanship. Now he moves around with bloggers, looking for attention. Since when did a medical doctor turn into a fire officer for him to go to a fire scene and start ranting?
“Does it mean that the fire service personnel present had no knowledge of how to quench the fire? Why did you get angry and start raising your voice at them?” he questioned.
He questioned the minister’s authority and understanding of fire emergencies, arguing that the firefighters were trained professionals who knew what they were doing.
Kwame Nkrumah Tikese further challenged the minister to take action against illegal mining (galamsey), which is rampant in the Ashanti Region, instead of engaging in unnecessary public drama.
“If you really want to show leadership, channel that energy into fighting galamsey, which is destroying our lands and water bodies.”
He also warned Dr Amoakohene that his actions could tarnish his reputation and make him the worst Ashanti Regional Minister in history if he did not change his approach.
“Let me advise you as my junior brother, there was no clear access to the fire scene, so what did you expect the fire service personnel to do? Fly?
“The job is not about public showmanship. You have no technical know-how on fire outbreaks. If not for coincidence, how would a medical doctor become an Ashanti Regional Minister? He needs serious advice.”
In a viral video from the scene of the Adum Market fire, Dr Amoakohene was captured calling out firefighters for failing to show enthusiasm in fighting the blaze.

Women entrepreneurs remain underutilised due to a lack of awareness
Women-led businesses are struggling to grow due to lack of access to crucial information and networks, according to Yaw Njorgnab, Manager of Agribusiness at Stanbic Bank.
Speaking at the Business and Financial Times (B&FT) Women in Business Dialogue Series’ second edition in Kumasi, Mr. Njorgnab emphasised that while many financial institutions in the country offer tailored products to support women entrepreneurs, these opportunities remain underutilised due to a lack of awareness.
He noted that Stanbic Bank provides specialised facilities for women-led businesses, including loans with single-digit interest rates and limited or no-collateral requirements.
“We really need to support women in business. Financing is key, but what we have realised is that sometimes it is not about large amounts. Even GH₵20,000 to buy a tool or scale up can make a significant difference. However, due to a lack of information, education and networks, many women do not know how to access these funds,” he explained.
He added that Stanbic Bank has introduced initiatives such as its trade hub, which serves as an incubator for young women and youth in business. The hub provides training and guidance on nurturing and developing businesses.
“After training, the next step is access to capital. We’ve developed partnerships with like-minded institutions and stakeholders to offer loans at considerably low rates, often in single-digits,” Njorgnab said.
He noted that agriculture, for instance, requires long-term financing which traditional bank funds often cannot support. That is why Stanbic Bank has introduced innovative solutions.
At Stanbic, women can access loans at 5% to 7% per annum compared to the standard 30% or 32%. This is specifically targetted at women and they are guided on how to structure their businesses to become bankable.
To address the challenge of collateral, which often disadvantages women, Stanbic Bank leverages tools such as grants and guarantees.
“You don’t necessarily need to provide a house or land to access a loan. For example, you can ride on government initiatives like the Ghana Enterprises Agency (GEA) to fund your business,” Mr. Njornab highlighted.
He further stressed the importance of education and awareness, noting that many women entrepreneurs remain unaware of the opportunities available to them.
“Most are struggling in their small corners, unaware that they can access affordable funding with little or no collateral. This lack of information is a significant barrier,” he said.
Njorgnab encouraged women entrepreneurs to actively engage with bank staff when visiting financial institutions.
“Don’t just go to the bank to make deposits or withdrawals. Spend time engaging with the staff, share your business ideas and ask about opportunities to grow your business. If you have a bankable business with growth potential, the funds to scale up are available,” he advised.
He also emphasised the availability of guidance and support at banks for various investment opportunities, whether in production or other sectors.
“There are so many opportunities you can explore. The key is to ask for help and take advantage of the resources available,” he added.
He then congratulated B&FT for the Women in Dialogue series, saying it is a platform that is helping to solve lack of information on the part of women-led businesses.
In a surprising turn of events, Dr Louisa Satekla, wife of award-winning musician Stonebwoy and a respected dental surgeon, has swiftly disassociated herself from a controversial comment circulating on social media that links her name to an endorsement of oral sex.
The viral post, which spread rapidly across various platforms, claimed that Dr Louisa had encouraged the practice of oral sex as part of maintaining a healthy relationship. The statement triggered mixed reactions, with some expressing support and others slamming what they viewed as inappropriate commentary coming from a public figure with influence in both health and family circles.
In an official statement released through her legal representatives, Dr Louisa described the viral comment as fabricated, misleading, and completely detached from her values and professional ethics. She emphasized that she has never made any public statements on such a private matter and finds the attempt to associate her with the comment both damaging and irresponsible.
The statement also warned individuals and media platforms circulating the misinformation to desist or face legal action for defamation and reputational harm. According to her lawyers, the malicious attempt to drag her name into controversy appears to be a deliberate effort to tarnish her professional image and that of her family.
Sources close to Dr Louisa revealed that she has been deeply disturbed by the incident, especially given her commitment to health advocacy, youth mentorship, and family values. Her team has since reported the matter to the Cyber Crime Unit of the Ghana Police Service for investigation.
Social media reactions have been divided, with some netizens apologizing for sharing the fake news, while others insist on questioning why such issues gain traction in public discourse at all.
As the dust settles, Dr Louisa’s swift disassociation from the comment has been hailed by some observers as a necessary step in protecting public figures from the increasingly murky waters of misinformation and digital smear campaigns a cautionary tale for the digital age where words can be twisted, and reputations placed on trial without evidence.

Hairstyles play a vital role in shaping a woman’s overall appearance, boosting confidence, and complementing personal style. Whether you have short, medium, or long hair, there is a wide array of options to choose from, ranging from sophisticated updos to casual, effortless styles. Here’s a look at some of the best hairstyles for ladies that can suit every occasion and personality.
The bob cut is a timeless hairstyle that has remained popular for decades. It’s chic, low-maintenance, and versatile, making it perfect for any woman. The bob can be customized to suit different face shapes and preferences—whether it’s a sleek straight bob, a textured, wavy version, or a layered bob for added volume. It’s a great option for those looking for a polished yet easy-to-maintain hairstyle.
Long, flowing hair exudes femininity and elegance. A straightened long hairstyle is ideal for those who prefer a more sophisticated, refined look. Adding layers to the hair gives it movement and volume, while a subtle side part can enhance facial features. This style works well for formal events and daily wear alike.
Curly hair is all about volume and bounce, adding a playful and vibrant touch to your appearance. Whether natural or achieved with styling tools, curls can frame the face beautifully and give a youthful, dynamic look. From soft waves to tight ringlets, curly hair can be styled in various ways to suit different occasions, making it both fun and versatile.
The high ponytail is a go-to hairstyle for many women, offering a clean and sleek look that works for both casual and formal events. It’s a great choice for those looking for an effortless yet polished style. To add volume, you can backcomb the hair at the crown before pulling it into a ponytail, or add some curls to the ends for a more playful touch.
Braids are versatile and can be adapted into many different styles. From a simple three-strand braid to more intricate styles like fishtail or waterfall braids, braids can be worn casually for a laid-back vibe or dressed up for special occasions. They’re perfect for keeping hair out of the face while still looking stylish.
For a relaxed and casual look, the messy bun is a go-to hairstyle. It’s perfect for days when you want to look effortlessly chic, whether you’re at the office, running errands, or attending a laid-back social gathering. The key to the messy bun is to make it look intentionally tousled, with loose strands around the face for a softer effect.
The top knot is another hairstyle that is both stylish and practical. It can be a sleek and polished knot for a formal look or a messy top knot for a more casual, relaxed vibe. This hairstyle works well for hot weather or when you want to keep your hair out of your face while maintaining a stylish look.
For those who prefer shorter hair, the pixie cut is a bold and trendy choice. It’s a low-maintenance yet fashionable hairstyle that suits a variety of face shapes. The pixie can be styled in many ways—sleek and smooth for a sophisticated look or tousled for a more carefree, edgy vibe.
Conclusion: Hairstyles are an essential part of a woman’s identity, helping her express personality and style. From the classic bob to the trendy pixie cut, there are plenty of options to experiment with. Whether you prefer sleek and straight, bouncy curls, or intricate braids, the perfect hairstyle can transform your look and boost your confidence for any occasion. Don’t be afraid to switch things up and try something new to see what makes you feel most beautiful and empowered.

Last night, NPP MPs were attacked by thugs, that has never happened before – Kojo Oppong Nkrumah
News Hub Creator1h
Kojo Oppong Nkrumah, the Member of Parliament for Ofoase/Ayirebi, has revealed a shocking incident that occurred during a parliamentary committee meeting last night, when a group of thugs infiltrated the chamber and launched an attack on members of the New Patriotic Party (NPP). This unprecedented breach of security has raised serious concerns about the safety of lawmakers and the integrity of parliamentary proceedings in Ghana.
Oppong Nkrumah described the incident to the press, explaining how individuals disguised as guests managed to blend into the meeting. He emphasized the gravity of the situation, stating, “I don’t know if you were present last night, but we witnessed thugs attacking members of Parliament during a committee meeting. This is a serious matter that cannot be overlooked.” The attack escalated to the point where police had to intervene to ensure the safety of the MPs present. “It was only through the swift action of the police that our leadership was safely removed from the chamber,” he explained.
In the aftermath of the attack, Oppong Nkrumah expressed concern about the potential long-term implications of such violence in the halls of governance. He underscored the need for cooperation among members to ensure the safety of parliamentarians, stressing that such an event should never happen again.
The incident has sparked outrage among the public, with video footage showing chaotic scenes inside the chamber, where thugs openly threatened MPs. Oppong Nkrumah also pointed out that some of the attackers identified their regions, raising questions about the motivations behind the attack. In response, he called for immediate action to strengthen security measures within Parliament to prevent future incidents and ensure lawmakers’ safety.
Consumer advocacy group, CUTS International is calling on the Ministry of Communications, Digital Technology, and Innovation, as well as the Ministry of Trade, Agribusiness, and Industry, to intervene in MultiChoice Ghana Limited’s decision to increase service prices.
CUTS International has raised concerns over the short notice given for the price adjustment, which is set to take effect on April 1.
The subscription price adjustment reflects an average increase of 15% across all subscriber packages with Multichoice Ghana indicating that it considered the rate of consumer inflation and current economic pressures facing customers in arriving at the price adjustment.
But Consumer advocacy group, CUTS International, has criticized the short notice given to customers.
West African Regional Director of CUTS, Appiah Kusi Adomako, in an interview with Citi Business News, stressed that it was not against the price adjustment as the country operates a deregulated market.
He is thus calling for intervention from relevant sector ministries to reconsider the timing of the adjustment, arguing that consumers should have been given more time to prepare.
“DSTV has some kind of dominance when it comes to the satellite TV. They have access to premium content like the EPL and the UEFA channel and this has given them some leverage on the marketand other competitors don’t have access to this kind of content. DSTV is trying to abuse it dominant role in the market.
“If it was not having this dominant role, I am not sure it would have done this. I want to ask the Ministry of Communication and Trade to compel DSTV to rescind it on its one week notice and give Ghanaians a minimum of a month notice as per the terms of a good contract,” Appiah Kusi Adomako said
Despite the sterling performances in their last two games, Ghana Head Coach, Otto Addo, has cautioned the Black Stars against complacency, declaring that the task ahead of the team has not been accomplished.
He said this in a post Ghana versus Madagascar match comment where the Black Stars recorded a 3-0 victory to stretch the lead in African Group I qualifying to five.
Kenyan police officers arrived in Haiti in June to bolster Haiti’s security forces
A Kenyan police officer deployed in Haiti as part of the international security force has gone missing after an attack by suspected gang members.
The force was attacked by gangs as they were helping a vehicle from the Haitian national police that got stuck in a ditch, the mission said in a statement.
“As the rescue teams attempted to resolve the situation, suspected gang members lying in wait launched an attack,” it added.
Following the attack, specialised teams have been deployed to conduct a search for the missing officer.
The incident happened on Tuesday during a patrol operation in Haiti’s town of Pont-Sondé, the Multinational Security Support (MSS) Mission to Haiti said.
Haiti’s local media reported that the officer could have been killed by the gangs but this is yet to be confirmed.
This is not the first attack on Kenyan officers in Haiti.
Last month, a 26-year-old police constable was fatally wounded during an operation in Ségur-Savien, marking the first casualty among the Kenyan contingent.
Samuel Tompoi Kaetuai’s body was flown back and he was laid to rest this month.
Kenya has deployed at least 800 police officers under the MSS mission to Haiti to help in combating gangs.
The force was sent to Haiti starting June last year to help restore order to the country, where gangs have seized control of almost the entire capital, Port-au-Prince, as well as large swathes of rural areas.
More than 5,500 people were killed in gang-related violence in Haiti in 2024 and more than a million people have fled their homes.

Ghana and the United Kingdom (UK) have strengthened their partnership in the efforts to combat illicit gold trade.
In a crucial meeting held at the Ministry of Finance, Ghana’s Minister for Finance, Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson, met with officials from the UK-Ghana Gold Programme to discuss strategies to curb gold smuggling and ensure Ghana fully benefits from its gold resources.
READ ALSO: Ghana and UK strengthen economic ties
The UK-Ghana Gold Programme is a collaborative initiative aimed at breaking the link between illegal artisanal gold mining and serious organized crime (SOC).
During the meeting, stakeholders underscored the impact of illicit gold trade on Ghana’s economy, noting that in 2022 alone, 60 tonnes of gold—worth an estimated $1.2 billion—were smuggled out of the country.
To address this challenge, discussions focused on the establishment of the Ghana Gold Board (GoldBod) that will oversee gold trade, tackle smuggling, and promote responsible sourcing.
The initiative has already gained the support of the UK/Ghana Gold Programme, which is working closely with the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) to combat gold smuggling at key border points such as Bole.
The meeting also highlighted ongoing collaborations between UK/Ghana Gold Programme and the Precious Minerals Marketing Company (PMMC), focusing on industry reforms, including gold pricing mechanisms, pre-financing options, whistleblower protection for reporting smuggling, and ensuring responsible sourcing aligned with London Bullion Market Association (LBMA) certification.
In a move to support Ghana’s gold trade, the government will fund GoldBod to purchase 3 tonnes of gold every week, a strategy aimed at boosting foreign exchange reserves.
Additionally, as part of the 2025 Budget, the government is set to abolish the 1.5% withholding tax on unprocessed gold, a policy shift expected to encourage more formal gold trade and reduce smuggling.
Dr. Forson emphasized that these measures will help Ghana regain control of its gold industry, disrupt illegal trade networks, and ensure the country reaps the full benefits of its natural resources.
The collaboration between Ghana and the UK marks a significant step toward ending gold smuggling and fostering a more transparent and profitable gold sector.
Media personality Blessed Godsbrain Smart, popularly known as Captain Smart, has alleged that executives of the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC) are actively engaged in illegal mining, popularly known as galamsey.
Speaking on his show on Onua FM, the outspoken journalist said the galamsey menace has not been stopped because NDC constituency executives are deeply involved in the illegal act.
“Galamsey has not stopped because NDC executives are in the forest engaging in illegal mining. Who doesn’t know? I am saying it. I fought galamsey, and because of that, President Akufo-Addo caused my arrest five times. But I am sitting here and telling you today that NDC executives are engaged in galamsey. The National Democratic Congress constituency executives are in the forests engaging in galamsey presently.
When you go past Linda Dor Junction on your way to Kumasi, you will find illegal miners on both sides of the main road mining. They are mining openly for all to see. Galamsey is ongoing in Prestea. People are still depleting our forest reserves. As I speak, you will find excavators in many forest reserves engaged in illegal mining.”
Meanwhile, the Minister for Lands and Natural Resources, Emmanuel Armah-Kofi Buah, has launched the government’s flagship Blue Water Initiative, aimed at restoring polluted water resources.
As part of the initiative, he announced the commencement of a four-week training programme for the first batch of 460 Blue Water Guards, who will provide 24-hour monitoring and protection of the nation’s water bodies.
The minister emphasised that the Blue Water Guards will serve as vigilant stewards, safeguarding water resources from the devastating effects of illegal mining. He also revealed plans to train and deploy 2,000 guards nationwide in the coming months.
“The call for urgent action has never been more pressing. People often do not want us to say it, but this is a crisis of our lifetime. At the heart of why we are here is the Blue Water Initiative, and at the heart of this initiative is the Blue Water Guard. This aims to train 2,000 individuals across the country to protect our valuable water bodies.”
“They will serve as the frontline defenders of our water bodies and ensure that our water bodies remain a source of life and livelihood for generations to come. The responsibility of the Blue Water Guards is paramount in the fight against illegal mining,” he stated.

The Africa Cashew Alliance has said Ghana’s cashew production for the 2024 season dropped by 30 percent from the 2023 crop season.
The country produced some 161,000 metric tonnes of the commodity in the 2024 production season, the Alliance said.
According to the Alliance, the country was badly affected by bad weather conditions last year – a trend which may continue into first quarter of this year.
Crop estimation in the country is difficult, according to the organisation, as volumes continue to flow from landlocked countries to the north and from Cote d’Ivoire.
In 2023 the Ministry of Food and Agriculture noted that more than 200,000 farmers were estimated to be directly engaged in cashew cultivation, producing about 230,000 metric tonnes of raw cashew nut (RCN) during the 2022/2023 season.
However, production of the nut is expected to go up by 15 percent in 2025 – driven by improved farming practices and fair weather conditions.
Burdened with fluctuations in production figures over the years, stakeholders are also worried that the country processes only six percent of raw cashew nuts locally.
Indeed, cashew is one of the most popular nuts out there as they are found in everything from snack mixes to gourmet dishes.
However, the inability to undertake full scale processing has become a bane as more than 90 percent of the raw commodity is exported.
This means other countries which are Ghana’s trading partners – mainly India and Vietnam – benefit with higher profits from cashew processing. Stakeholders have said investing in local processing facilities could create thousands of jobs and increase revenue for the country.
The local industry is a lifeline for over 200,000 farmers and an estimated 200,000 more people involved in trading, transportation and processing.
In 2020 Ghana exported around 139,743 metric tonnes of raw cashew nuts, raking in about US$251.4million. Most of the nuts head to Vietnam and India, where they are processed before entering global markets.
The country has an estimated untapped potential of over US$660million in the global cashew industry.
In October 2024, Ghana and Côte d’Ivoire – two of Africa’s biggest cashew producers – collaborated to boost cashew processing and marketing. They aim to improve competitiveness, increase local processing and ensure better deals for their farmers on the international market.
This partnership could be a game-changer in positioning West Africa as a dominant force in the cashew trade.
This collaboration also means that Ghana is making significant efforts to strengthen its cashew industry.
Black Stars head coach Otto Addo has expressed his satisfaction with Ghana’s current position in the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.
After defeating Madagascar 3-0 in Morocco, Addo praised his team’s exceptional work ethic, solid defense, and decisive execution of set pieces.
Thomas Partey’s brace and Mohammed Kudus’ goal secured Ghana’s second win in as many matches, establishing a five-point lead atop the Group I standings.
Captain Jordan Ayew also made history with a hat-trick of assists, leading the African continent in World Cup qualification assists.
Addo acknowledged that there is still much work to be done but expressed his happiness with Ghana’s current standing.
“The work ethic today was exceptional… There is still a lot of work to do, but I think we are happy to be in a good position.”
Ghana aims to qualify for the FIFA World Cup for the fifth time.
Ghanaian social media personality Twene Jonas has spoken out in defense of businessman Richard Nii Quaye, criticizing Ghanaians who questioned the source of his wealth following his extravagant 40th birthday celebration.
In a video, Jonas called the backlash unnecessary, urging critics to allow the millionaire to enjoy his success.
He emphasized that instead of hating, Ghanaians should celebrate individuals like Quaye, who have achieved financial success and contribute to the economy.
Quaye’s birthday party, held at Black Star Square, was a star-studded affair featuring high-profile figures from business, entertainment, and politics.
The celebration included performances from Sarkodie, Stonebwoy, and KiDi, while Tanzanian musician Diamond Platnumz also made an appearance.
Prominent personalities in attendance included business moguls Ibrahim Mahama, Osei Kwame Despite, and Ofori Sarpong. The Ga Mantse, King Tackie Teiko Tsuru II, also graced the occasion.
Additionally, Nigerian celebrities Rita Dominic, Richard Mofe-Damijo, and Toke Makinwa were present.
This grand celebration followed reports that Quaye had recently acquired a private jet and a Bugatti Chiron, further fueling speculation about his wealth.
After the event, reports emerged that the Financial Intelligence Centre had allegedly placed a hold on accounts linked to Quaye’s companies—Bills Micro-Credit, Quick Credit, and Investment Micro-Credit.
Additionally, the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) was reportedly conducting a personal income tax assessment on him. However, details regarding the exact amount were not disclosed.
Citi Business News also reported that one of Quaye’s vehicles had previously been flagged over import duties, though the issue had been resolved.
In his video, Twene Jonas dismissed allegations of financial impropriety, asserting that Quaye’s success should be admired rather than questioned. He argued that many Ghanaians fail to celebrate wealth unless it is their own.
His comments sparked mixed reactions online.
Some supported his stance, saying Ghanaians should uplift wealthy individuals, while others believed public figures should be accountable for their financial dealings.
Reggae legend Gramps Morgan also expressed disappointment over the scrutiny Quaye faced, stating that successful businessmen should be allowed to thrive without constant suspicion.

Hon. Samuel Nartey George, the Minister of Communications, Digital Technology, and Innovations, has announced a major staff rationalisation exercise at the ministry. According to him, approximately 600 individuals were illegitimately recruited into the ministry and its agencies after December 7 elections, under the previous New Patriotic Party administration.
Addressing the concerns about the ongoing restructuring, the minister explained that the ministry currently has 3,117 staff members, including the agencies under it. However, he noted that the post-election recruitment of 600 workers was problematic and could not be allowed to continue
“People have raised questions about the staff rationalisation ongoing at the ministry. If you are a minister that take over a ministry that has 3117 staff in the ministry and it’s agencies amd you realise that 600 of them were recruited after December 7, basically you can’t expect me to come anf inherit such mess and continue with it. The rationalisation is ongoing.” He stated.

The Greater Accra Regional Minister, Linda Akweley Ocloo has announced the restoration of approximately 126 street lights across the Metropolitan, Municipal and District Assemblies in the region.
This follows an earlier promise to ensure the complete operations of at least 70 percent of streetlights in the region within 50 days of assuming office, a move she explains aligns with the government’s commitment to improving visibility and security across the capital.
Some areas she enumerated to have benefited from the initiative include the George Walker Bush Highway, ACP to Pokuase, Independence Avenue (Jubilee House) and the New Town junction to Ashaiman road.
Addressing journalists on Tuesday, March 25 during an assessment tour, Ocloo announced plans to promptly restore the remaining non-functioning streetlights.
“Today, March 25, marks exactly my 50 days in office and I am pleased to report that significant progress has been made and in all, about 126 streetlights have been worked on, including some highways, town roads, and community roads across the 29 MMDAs in the region.
“I must mention that the Tema Motorway and the Accra-Tema Beach Road, which is of very much concern to the general public, could not be lightened because of the ongoing construction works.”

The Member of Parliament for Mpraeso, Davis Ansah Opoku, has slammed the Minister for Communications, Digital Technology, and Innovations, Samuel Nartey George, for dismissing nearly 100 staff members at Ghana Post.
In an interview with Citi FM on Tuesday, March 25, Davis Opoku criticized President John Dramani Mahama’s administration’s “resetting theme” and called the decision inappropriate.
His comments come in response to a directive by the minister dismissing the affected workers, citing anomalies in their hiring process.
Samuel Nartey George claims that the action is part of a broader rationalization initiative aimed at streamlining ministry and agency operations.
Opoku, however, vehemently disagreed with the decision, arguing that it unfairly disadvantages workers who obtained their positions through legal channels.
“I think the minister is overstepping his bounds, and I wonder if this whole resetting is necessary to the extent that people whose employment dates back before December 7 are even getting their employment terminated.
“These are not political appointments; these are persons who went through the proper HR processes as laid down in these various agencies and got employed. So what precedent are we setting in this country?” citinewsroom.com quoted him as saying.

The Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) has assured its customers to restore power after outages were experienced in parts of Accra on Tuesday, March 25, following a destructive rainstorm.
ECG attributed the disruption in electricity supply to damage caused by the severe weather conditions.
In a March 26 statement, ECG informed the public about the outages and assured affected customers that efforts are underway to restore power as quickly as possible.
The state-power distributor noted that the storm had significantly impacted sections of its network, leading to electrical faults and interruptions in service delivery.
“The Electricity Company of Ghana wishes to inform our cherished customers that the heavy rainstorm that hit parts of Accra and its environs yesterday evening (25th March, 2025) has caused some outages within our network,” ECG stated.
The statement added that a team of engineers has been deployed to assess the extent of the damage and carry out necessary repairs.
Below is the full statement.

President John Mahama has initiated consultations with the Council of State following the submission of three petitions seeking the removal of Chief Justice Gertrude Sackey Torkornoo.
A statement issued by Felix Kwakye Ofosu, Minister for Government Communications, confirmed that the President had forwarded the petitions to the Council of State in line with Article 146 of the 1992 Constitution, which outlines the process for removing a Chief Justice.
Although details of the petitions remain undisclosed, this development marks the beginning of a formal constitutional process that could potentially lead to significant changes within Ghana’s judiciary.
The Council of State is expected to review the petitions and advise the President on the appropriate course of action as stipulated in Article 146.
This is not the first attempt to remove Chief Justice Torkornoo. Earlier this year, former President Nana Akufo-Addo dismissed a similar petition filed by Prof. Stephen Kwaku Asare, citing a lack of merit.
That petition accused the Chief Justice of misconduct and incompetence, specifically alleging irregularities in panel reconstitution, the issuance of practice directions, and constitutional breaches.
However, after consulting the Council of State, the former President ruled that the claims failed to establish a prima facie case warranting further investigation.
The removal of a Chief Justice is governed by Article 146 of the 1992 Constitution, which stipulates that a Justice of the Superior Court can only be removed for stated misbehaviour, incompetence, or incapacity due to infirmity.
The law requires that when such a petition is received, the President must act in consultation with the Council of State to appoint a committee to investigate the allegations.
This committee must include two Justices of the Supreme Court, one of whom serves as chairman, as well as three other individuals who are not members of Parliament, the Council of State, or the legal profession.
The committee is mandated to investigate the allegations and make recommendations to the President.
If a petition is referred to a committee, the President may also suspend the Chief Justice upon the advice of the Council of State.
With President Mahama officially referring the petitions to the Council of State, the legal and political landscape surrounding the Chief Justice’s tenure now hinges on the committee’s findings. If the committee recommends removal, the President will be required to act accordingly.
This unfolding situation is expected to generate intense debate within Ghana’s legal and political circles as stakeholders await the Council of State’s decision.
Nana Akomea, Jerry Ahmed Shaib and Dr Dominic Ayine
Several individuals, including lawmakers and civil society leaders, are pressuring the Attorney General and Minister of Justice, Dr Dominic Ayine, to disclose the identity of a Member of Parliament (MP) he claims was paid by the former Director-General of the National Service Scheme (NSS), Osei Assibey Antwi, to suppress the infamous “Ghost Names” scandal in the media.
According to these critics, the Attorney General’s revelation has left the nation in suspense, and they insist that full disclosure is necessary for accountability and transparency.
Second Deputy Minority Whip, Jerry Ahmed Shaib, speaking in an interview on Joy News on March 25, 2025, urged the Attorney General to name the MP in question.
“Is the Attorney General seriously suggesting that an MP took money to kill a case in the media? Are you saying that if I have a matter to handle, I must go through an MP to bury it? That is ridiculous,” he stated.
Jerry Ahmed Shaib, who also serves as the Weija-Gbawe MP, challenged the Attorney General to provide evidence, arguing that vague accusations without proof were irresponsible.
“If he can say someone is in Senegal or South Africa and claim they can’t be retrieved, why can’t he name this MP? This is completely uncalled for,” he said.
Executive Director of the Media Foundation for West Africa (MFWA), Sulemana Braimah, also demanded that the Attorney General reveal the name of the MP, citing the need for transparency and the protection of Parliament’s reputation.
“We call on the Attorney General to name the MP who was allegedly given money to kill the story. Doing so will be in the interest of transparency and will also protect the reputation of Parliament,” Braimah stated in a Facebook post.
Former Managing Director of the State Transport Corporation (STC), Nana Akomea, also criticized the Attorney General for withholding crucial information from the public while selectively revealing other details.
Speaking on Peace FM’s Kokrokoo show on March 24, 2025, Akomea questioned the Attorney General’s approach, “You are still conducting investigations, so what is the rush in making such claims in the media?
“If you say money was given to a Member of Parliament to kill the story, then tell us who that MP is. If you want full disclosure, make everything public. Why would you hide certain information while revealing others? I don’t understand.”
During a press briefing on March 24, 2025, Dr Ayine alleged that NSS officials, including the Chief Executive Officer, made payments to a Ghanaian MP to influence the media and suppress investigations into the ghost names scandal.
He further disclosed that eight suspects had been interrogated and were cooperating with the investigation.
“Because these matters are still under investigation, I can confirm that the probe into the National Service Scheme and the Sky Train Scandal will conclude by mid-April, after which prosecutions will begin,” Dr Ayine stated.
“With the National Service scandal, eight suspects have been interrogated, and a good number of them have started talking. We now have evidence of payments made into the accounts of top NSS executives by private vendors of the scheme,” he added.
The Attorney General also revealed, “We have evidence that in November 2024, the CEO of the NSS and others paid a Ghanaian Member of Parliament to kill the story in the media and defend them.”

Former Deputy General Secretary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Samuel Koku Anyidoho, has threatened to sue investigative journalist Manasseh Azure over what he termed defamatory content written about him in the book “The Fourth John: Reign, Rejection and Rebound”.
According to Koku Anyidoho, Manasseh claimed that he was more powerful than the then Vice President, John Dramani Mahama, during Koku’s tenure as the Head of Communications and Presidential Spokesperson under the late former President, Professor John Evans Atta Mills—a claim he has vehemently denied.
In a series of social media posts on March 25, 2025, he stated, “Manasseh Azure should be ready for my next suit because of what he wrote about me in his book.
“Manasseh Azure interviewed me for a book he said he was writing. He asked me questions, and I answered him. So, it is disingenuous of him to write that I was more powerful than Vice President Mahama. I was never more powerful than the Vice President. I must salvage my reputation.
“I was never more powerful than Vice President John Mahama when I worked with President Mills. Manasseh Azure will prove to me in court how he knew me to be more powerful than the Vice President.”
Koku’s legal threat follows a GH¢5 million defamation suit filed by him against the host of Onua Maakye, Blessed Godsbrain Smart, popularly known as Captain Smart.
The suit was filed at the Accra High Court on Tuesday, March 25, 2025.
According to the court documents sighted by GhanaWeb on March 25, 2025, the plaintiff stated that Captain Smart made several defamatory comments on his TV show in February 2025, which were later republished on GhanaWeb.
Koku Anyidoho argues that these statements have had a negative impact on his mental health and have tarnished his reputation, both professionally and within religious circles, where he is highly respected.
As a result, he is seeking:
GH¢5 million in damages, including aggravated/exemplary damages for reputational harm
A retraction and apology
The removal of the defamatory content
Manasseh Azure Awuni’s book revealed that Samuel Koku Anyidoho was one person at that time who came across as “powerful” and could even make decisions in the name of the late President Atta-Mills without his consent or knowledge.
Manasseh Azure Awuni’s book cited an example whereby in June 2012, during a Black Stars qualifying match in Kumasi, there was a power outage at the stadium, disrupting the game which was being broadcast live.
Anyidoho quickly went on air on Accra-based Joy FM and said: “President Atta-Mills is upset and everybody who has a role to play in this will have their heads roll.”
He added that the Ashanti Regional Director of the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) would be fired and “all those in the line of fire would be fired”.
The famous “heads must roll” comment from Koku Anyidoho, Manasseh Azure Awuni explained, was not coming from President Atta-Mills because a statement from Fritz Baffour, the then Minister for Information, denied such a directive.
“The President has given no such directive and it is therefore not true that the ECG boss in the Ashanti Region has been fired.”
Koku Anyidoho’s attitude of conveying information not sanctioned by authority, according to the book, gave Vice President Mahama, who had been asked to take charge of affairs at the presidency because of the ill-health of President Atta-Mills, a lot of headaches.
“He was supposed to be in charge because the president was not healthy, but the attitude of some presidential staffers and ministers upset him so badly that he once decided to quit as vice president,” Manasseh Awuni wrote.
“The Chief Director at the Office of the Vice President had returned from lunch break to find the typist in the office seriously typing a letter. Official letters often passed through him (the Chief Director), and he then assigned the typist to work on them.
But this was an exception. When he asked the typist what he was typing, he said the vice president had given him something to type but he would not speak when asked what it was. Perhaps the content was too heavy for his mouth.
The Chief Director then drew closer to him and looked at the screen of the computer. What greeted him from the screen, alarmed him. It was Vice President John Mahama’s resignation letter that was almost ready. He didn’t have the time to read the full letter. He ordered the typist to stop typing and he headed for John Mahama’s office,” page 65 of the book reads.
As fate would have it, President Atta-Mills died on July 24, 2012, and Vice President Mahama took over as President and went ahead to contest and win the 2012 election.
“The Vice President, who did not have much power or influence within the presidency, suddenly had ultimate state power,” Manasseh wrote.
