A poignant photo of President John Dramani Mahama sharing a moment with Highlife legend, Daddy Lumba, is making waves online following the musician’s passing and for a deeply emotional reason.

The photo, taken on July 1, 2025, during the special luncheon to honour Ghana’s senior citizens at the Jubilee House, is now believed to be Daddy Lumba’s final public appearance.

Dressed in a blue suit, the music icon stood in front of Mahama, smiling gently as they exchanged warm pleasantries.

No one at the time could have known it would be his last outing in public.

Lumba, born Charles Kwadwo Fosu, died in the early hours of Saturday, July 26, 2025, at the Bank Hospital in Accra.

He had been admitted days earlier for treatment of an undisclosed illness.

Sources close to the family confirmed his peaceful passing at dawn.

The 60-year-old musician had been relatively quiet in recent months, making his appearance at the July 1 event even more special.

It was a rare moment, a living legend being honoured for his contributions to Ghanaian culture, sharing a room with fellow senior citizens and the country’s top leadership, including Vice President Prof Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang, as well as the Speaker of Parliament, Alban Bagbin.

On hindsight, the now-viral photo captured more than a handshake or a friendly exchange.

It is a final bow, a fitting farewell to a man whose music shaped generations.

As tributes pour in from across the country and beyond, the image has become a symbol of gratitude and goodbye.

For many Ghanaians, it is not just a trending photo; it is history frozen in time, the last public glimpse of a national treasure.

The Minister of Finance, Dr Cassiel Ato Forson, has explained the decision by the government to delay the abolishment of the COVID-19 Levy.

“Just 4 Are Operational” – Deputy Minister-Designate Breaks Silence on Electric Buses

0

Only four of the ten electric buses delivered to Ghana are currently in use, according to Deputy Transport Minister-designate Dorcas Affo-Toffey as per reports from Ghana Web.

Speaking during her vetting before Parliament’s Appointments Committee on Friday, July 25, she revealed that although the country initially ordered 100 buses, just a tenth of that number has been received, with only a fraction operational.

She noted that six of the ten buses encountered technical difficulties related to their charging systems.

However, she assured the committee that the issue has since been addressed. “Four of them are operational, while the other six had issues with the charging system.

The Minister has resolved the matter after engaging with the company,” Affo-Toffey told the committee.

The MP pledged to support the Transport Ministry’s efforts to promote electric vehicles in Ghana, describing the transition to eco-friendly mobility as a necessary step in aligning with global sustainability standards.

Her appearance was part of a vetting process for four newly nominated deputy ministers named in a release dated July 10 by the Minister of State in charge of Government Communication, Felix Kwakye Ofosu.

Alongside Affo-Toffey, the Appointments Committee also vetted Dr Grace Ayensu-Danquah for Health, Mohammed Adam Sukparu for Communication, Digital Technology and Innovation, and James Gyakye Quayson for Foreign Affairs.

Parliament’s Speaker, Alban Bagbin, formally referred the nominees to the Committee on July 17.

Once approved, their appointments will bring President John Mahama’s ministerial team to 60, fulfilling his 2024 campaign commitment to streamline governance.

In a post made online by Media Personality Edwardaganesh, He stated that Entertainment Pundit “Mc Yaa Yeboah should be mindful of her utterances on TV”.

He added

“In recent times, it has become increasingly difficult to ignore the tone and content of the statements regularly made online by Mc Yaa Yeboah who presents herself as an entertainment pundit. While constructive criticism and honest commentary are vital to the growth of the creative industry, there is a clear distinction between meaningful critique and persistent derogatory behavior.

Unfortunately, Mc Yaa Yeboah has consistently chosen to cross that line using every platform she gets not to elevate conversations around entertainment, but to belittle artists, spread negativity, and create division within the very industry she claims to support. Her comments often lack nuance, empathy, and the basic respect owed to individuals who dedicate themselves to their craft.

We must remind ourselves that being a pundit or critic comes with responsibility. Words have power. When public figures use their voices to tear others down under the guise of “honest opinion,” they contribute not only to a toxic culture but also discourage growth, creativity, and collaboration.

We all have the right to express opinions, but no one has the right to use their platform to demean others. Constructive criticism builds; derogatory rhetoric destroys. The entertainment space in Ghana and beyond deserves better. I call on Mc Yaa Yeboah to reflect on the impact of her words and either contribute positively to the industry or respectfully step aside.

Let us remember: promoting talent and holding it accountable are not mutually exclusive but it must be done with integrity, fairness, and a genuine intention to build, not break”

‘A lot of smuggling from Togo enters Ghana’

Dr Cassiel Ato Forson is the Minister of Finance Dr Cassiel Ato Forson is the Minister of Finance

The Minister of Finance, Dr Cassiel Ato Forson, has lamented the high level of smuggling at Ghana’s ports, especially through the Togo port.

He said the smuggled goods infiltrate the Ghanaian market, robbing the country of revenue through taxes and port charges, while affecting local Ghanaian businesses.

He said, “You can see a lot of smuggling from the Togo port entering through Ghana, and it is a matter of significant concern. This smuggling not only takes away our revenue, but also takes away employment from Ghanaians.”

According to a citinewsroom.com report, the minister lamented the revenue leakages and added that, “In the coming days, I think I may relocate my office to the Tema Port. It may have to get to that for us to see what is going on.”

Ato Forson noted that the government is working to adequately equip the preventive arm of the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) to curb the illicit flow of goods.

He was quick to add that if the issue of revenue leakages is not addressed as soon as possible, it would cripple the nation’s revenue base and threaten economic recovery efforts.

Late Ghanaian musician, Charles Kwadwo Fosuh, popularly known as Daddy Lumba, has left music lovers dumbfounded.

His official Facebook, in a statement, confirmed his sudden demise on Saturday, July 26, 2025.

Without a doubt, Daddy Lumba contributed significantly to the music space by grooming talents and performing for high-ranking personalities in and out of Ghana.

Before his sudden demise, Lumba staged his last iconic “Valentine with Daddy Lumba” concert, which took place on February 15, 2025, barely 5 months ago.

His concert was staged at the Grand Arena, Accra.

Daddy Lumba made a grand entry with his “Gold Digger,” a song that he composed over a decade ago, but became a hit in early 2025 due to social media.

He switched to his “Se Sumye Kasa A” classic song as fans cheered him on while others sprayed him with money.

Halfway through Lumba’s performance, the iconic musician paused his concert and praised his fans for their support, adding that performing on Valentine’s Day was his first time after years in the music industry.

“I wish you all a Happy Valentine’s Day. I am very happy because I have not performed on Val’s Day before. I was reluctant to perform when Maame Serwaa brought the idea,” he said.

After his speech, the late veteran invited Sarkodie on stage.

Sarkodie, who was overwhelmed with excitement, knelt before the highlife legend as a sign of respect.

The two later performed their timeless ‘Anadwo Yi Dei’, the track on which Sarkodie was featured.

The night was filled with nostalgic performances, with other musicians like Ofori Amponsah, KK Fosu, Kofi Nti, Kofi Kinaata, and Adina also making appearances to join in the celebration.

The late Daddy Lumba, known for his classic hits such as Aben Wo Ha, Sika Asem, Theresa, Anidaso, and Ohia Asomdwe, will continue to be a key figure in Ghana’s music scene after his death.

Today, that truth has unfolded in the life of the one who sang it so beautifully.

“I never imagined that soon the voice behind that wisdom would one day become the very proof of it. Daddy Lumba sang what many of us didn’t have the words to say. He wrapped life’s deepest truths in melody, and now, just as he sang, his time came, and he’s gone. Life, indeed, is fleeting. But some souls live on through the songs they leave behind, and DL will always be that legend. Rest In Peace, DL. You impacted through songs,” he posted on Facebook.

Cape Coast, July 26, GNA – Vice President Professor Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang has paid homage to the chiefs of the Oguaa Traditional Area and thanked them for their resolute support in achieving the historic feat as the first female Vice President of Ghana.

The Vice President, a daughter of the Central Region, together with her entourage, was given a stately welcome by Osabarimba Kwesi Atta II, the Oguaamanhen, and the entire Traditional Council at the Emintsimadze Palace in traditional glitz.

Osabarimba Kwesi Atta honoured the Vice President with an achievement award, offering her a plaque and a citation, and adorned her with some traditional regalia to commend and  encourage her.

She expressed gratitude to the chiefs and people of the region for their significant contribution to the emphatic victory of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and urged their continuous support for the government.

Highlighting the significant economic and social progress made under the government in the last six months, the Vice President called on all citizens to put their shoulders to the wheels to enhance and consolidate the gains.

“The country belongs to all of us and so whatever gains are made collectively will be enjoyed by all of us,” she said.

Prof Opoku-Agyemang entreated the chiefs to continuously counsel and guide the government when they went wrong, stressing that nobody was beyond advice and reproach.

With a blissful tone, she expressed gratitude to citizens for their prayers for her when she was taken ill and thanked God for her recovery.

Osabarimba Kwesi Atta welcomed the Vice President back home and pledged to reciprocate the respect, honour and support, highlighting their strong relationship over the years.

Extolling her for her humility and diligence, the Oguaamanhen encouraged the Vice President to continue on that path and not lose her personality over her new position.

The Oguaamadded also hailed the Vice President for her competence, attributing it to her new role as the Chairperson for both the Police and Military Councils.

“Consider the welfare and interest of the whole nation in every action you take; I mean don’t put your interest ahead of the people’s interest,” he said.

“In your new role, you will certainly face challenges but I urged you to be steadfast and trust in the Lord,” he added.

“This is a government that fulfils its promises, and we shall continue to do greater things to alleviate the plights of Ghanaians,” he said.

The Vice President was in the company of Mr Ekow Panyin Okyere Eduamoah, the Central Regional Minister; Mr Ampofo, and other dignitaries.

IGP embarks on fact-finding mission in Asawase after two fatal shootings

0

The Inspector General of Police (IGP) is currently in Asawase, Kumasi, on a fact-finding mission following two deadly shooting incidents that have rocked the community within the span of a week.

The visit comes in the wake of rising tensions in the area after an unidentified man was fatally shot by unknown gunmen on a motorbike, just days after the assassination of Abdul-Malik Azenbe, the Kusasi Chief of the Ashanti Region.

The IGP’s visit is aimed at assessing the security situation on the ground, engaging with local leaders, and receiving firsthand updates from investigators handling the cases. The presence of the IGP underscores the seriousness with which the Ghana Police Service is treating the incidents, which have left residents fearful and demanding swift justice.

According to eyewitness reports, the latest victim was attacked by two men riding a motorbike, who opened fire and fled the scene. Police and military personnel were quickly deployed, cordoning off the area and launching a full-scale investigation. scene experts are currently analyzing evidence gathered from the scene.

This incident followed the July 22 killing of Chief Abdul-Malik Azenbe, who was gunned down at his residence near the Asawase F-line community centre. He was attacked by assailants—also on a motorbike—one reportedly armed with an AK-47. The chief was rushed to the hospital but was pronounced dead on arrival.

Meanwhile, The Ashanti Regional Security Council (REGSEC) has imposed an immediate ban on the use of motorbikes after 7:00 pm in parts of the region, including the Asokore Mampong Municipality and the Kumasi Metropolis, following the fatal shooting of Alhaji Abdul-Malik Azenbge, Chief of Kusasi, at Asawase on Tuesday, July 22, 2025.

How I bonded with Bucci Franklin for ‘To Kill a Monkey’— Lilian Afegbai

0

Popular actress, Lilian Afegbai, has said that her portrayal of Idia in the trending movie, ‘To Kill A Monkey’, was a case of preparation meeting opportunity.

In an interview with Saturday Beats, she said, “I was so excited about the character— Idia— and the storyline in general. I couldn’t wait to start filming and do justice to “Idia”. I am happy to see that it was a job well done. This project was a case of preparation meeting opportunity, all facilitated by divine alignment from God. I wanted it, prepared myself, and delivered. It was exciting and inspiration to work with a director like Kemi Adetiba, who isn’t of Edo heritage, telling a story that’s so well nuanced and authentic.”

Asked how she was able to nurture the onscreen chemistry with her onscreen husband— Bucci Franklin— she said, “Bucci is a stellar actor. Working with him was exciting because we were so in sync. We knew how we wanted to make people feel and how we would be perceived. We prioritised believability as an on-screen couple. We spent so much time together before filming and rehearsed umpteen times, developing a friendship even off camera. That became the basis of the chemistry that audiences were drawn to and loved so much.”

Afegbai also recounted that they (actors) had to go through stunt training for months before filming.

Minister for Lands and Natural Resources, Emmanuel Armah-Kofi Buah, has commissioned 530 new Blue Water Guards to preserve Ghana’s water bodies and combat illegal mining, commonly known as galamsey.

The commissioning ceremony was held at the Western Naval Command in Ezinlibo, marking the graduation of the second cohort under the government’s flagship Blue Water Initiative.

This latest cohort brings the total number of trained guards to 983, with 453 graduating in Phase One and the current 530 in Phase Two.

The initiative aimed to train a total of 2,000 guards this year as part of a comprehensive strategy to combat illegal mining.

It is a joint effort between the Lands Ministry and the Minerals Commission to safeguard Ghana’s rivers and lakes from environmental degradation, particularly from illegal mining activities.

The Minerals Commission was represented by Emmanuel Kwamena Anyimah, Deputy Chief Executive Officer of Support Services.

Commander Samuel Kwaku Boateng-Asiedu, the Acting Naval Base Commander at Ezinlibo, provided an overview of the rigorous, three-phase training programme.

The initial phase focused on essential drills, first aid techniques, and basic fitness and endurance. Phases two and three advanced to include swimming, basic boat handling, evidence collection, survival techniques, assault river crossing, search and cordon techniques, and practical exercises.

The modules have equipped the trainees with the necessary skills for effective riverine operations and intelligence gathering.

Commander Boateng-Asiedu also highlighted a beach clean-up undertaken by the recruits, emphasizing its role in instilling patriotism.

He expressed confidence in the new guards’ abilities and urged them to be prepared for the demanding tasks ahead.

Commander Boateng-Asiedu stressed the importance of integrity, instructing graduates to avoid any acts of corruption and eschew all unlawful activities.

Presiding over the ceremony, Mr Buah praised the recruits for their discipline and resilience throughout the four-week intensive training programme.

“These graduands are not just guards—they are the eyes, ears, and frontline defenders of our communities,” Mr Buah declared.

“They are the vanguard in our fight against the wanton destruction of our water bodies on which our very lives depend.”

Mr Buah who is also the Member of Parliament for Ellembelle, underscored the critical importance of protecting Ghana’s water bodies, which were vital for drinking, agriculture, and livelihoods, but were currently being severely polluted by illegal mining activities.

He clarified that “mining is not the enemy; the enemy is the lawlessness that has turned this sector into a threat.”

The Minister explained that the Blue Water initiative was a comprehensive strategy designed to rescue the rivers and enforce sustainable practices.

The new recruits, drawn from the Savannah, Western North, and Upper West regions, would be responsible for monitoring and protecting rivers, enforcing environmental laws, and engaging with local communities to promote responsible water resource stewardship.

Mr Buah charged the recruits to uphold their responsibilities with courage and integrity, reiterating that they are not merely guards but “community vanguards entrusted with a sacred duty.”

He invoked the spirit of the “Young Pioneers,” urging them to embody this commitment.

He also highlighted the government’s dedication to supporting the guards and local communities by introducing the upcoming Responsible Cooperative Mining and Skills Development Programme, which aimed to empower local miners with legal and sustainable alternatives.

The Minister appealed to all Ghanaians for their support, stating, “Blue Water Guards, be assured, the people of Ghana are behind you, and together, we will restore our rivers to their rightful state: clean, blue, and life-giving.

“We are proud of your commitment during training, and we expect nothing less than your best in the field.”

Mr Buah further commended other state entities, including the Ministry of Defence, National Security, and the Environmental Protection Authority for their collaborative efforts in ensuring the initiative’s success.

He specifically acknowledged Colonel Dominic Buah, Director of Operations, National Anti-Illegal Mining Secretariat, which serves as the operational nerve-centre for Ghana’s fight against illegal small-scale mining and its associated environmental degradation, particularly in water bodies where the guards’ work would be focused.

Mr Buah explained that the guards would be deployed in strategically positioned teams along designated sections of the river bodies to ensure effective command and control.

He emphasized the importance of accountability and transparency, stating, “your daily situational reports, weekly summaries, and quarterly evaluations will be channelled through the Ghana Navy to the Minerals Commission and the Ministry.

“As Ghana continues to grapple with the environmental and economic consequences of illegal mining, the commissioning of these 530 Blue Water Guards signifies a renewed and robust commitment to sustainable resource management and national development.”

Present at the ceremony were Mr. Yusif Sulemana, Deputy Minister of Lands and Natural Resources; Professor Samuel Jerry Yaw Kuma, Advisor to the Lands Minister; Commodore Samuel Ayelazonu, Flag Officer, Commanding the Western Naval Command; and Naval Staff Rear Admiral Godwin Livinus Bessing.

Other notable dignitaries included Nana Koloro Blay IV, Chief of Ezinlibo, and Nana Ehwie Kwasi II, Chief of Allowule.

Ghana is currently undergoing a $3billion bailout programme with the IMF Ghana is currently undergoing a $3billion bailout programme with the IMF

The Director of Communications at the International Monetary Fund (IMF), Julie Kozack, has noted that Ghana’s 2025 Mid-Year Budget Review aligns with the fund’s programme.

According to her, the measures outlined by the government in the policy statement will help in streamlining efforts aimed at the stabilisation of the Ghanaian economy.

Kozack again added that; “With respect to the budget, I can say that the IMF has welcomed the government’s corrective actions.” She said this during a question-and-answer session in a press conference in Washington, DC, USA, on July 24, 2024.

According to her; “A strong 2025 budget and an audit of payables to quantify and address the pre-election fiscal slippages.”

Kozack also noted that the government’s resolve to settle its debts, among other commitments, is laudable and significant of intentional recovery processes.

She lauded the government’s drive to ensure “public financial management and public procurement acts,” adding that “this helps improve the overall fiscal responsibility framework in Ghana.”

Overall she noted that the government has been proactive in tackling inflation and exchange rate issues.

She advised that the Central Bank tighten its monetary policy to tame inflation.

“Ghana has made good progress since the beginning of the program in reducing inflation. Inflation was extremely high at the end of 2022 at 54%,” adding that it has now tumbled substantially to 14% at the end of June 2025.

“Going forward, it will be important for monetary policy to remain sufficiently tight, consistent with bringing inflation down to the Bank of Ghana’s target range, which is 8.0% plus or minus 2 percentage points,” she was quoted by myjoyonline.com to have said.

‘I pray his case becomes foolish’ – Awudu Issaka on Partey’s rape charges

Thomas Partey is a former player of Arsenal Thomas Partey is a former player of Arsenal

Former Ghana international, Awudu Issaka, has addressed the rape and sexual assault charges slapped on former Arsenal and Ghana midfielder, Thomas Partey.

In an interview on Sporty FM, while acknowledging Partey’s support in the past, Issaka expressed his heartfelt hope that the case turns out to be baseless.

“Thomas Partey has really helped me. So, I pray his case becomes foolish,” he said.

His words come as news circulates that the Crown Prosecution Service has charged Partey with five counts of rape and one count of sexual assault, brought by three women alleging incidents between 2021 and 2022.

Partey, 32, who joined Arsenal from Atlético Madrid in 2020 and has earned over 50 caps for Ghana, including featuring at the 2022 World Cup, denies all allegations and has cooperated with authorities during the multi-year investigation.

Criticism has focused on how Arsenal handled the matter, as Partey continued playing for the club while under investigation before his contract expired on June 30, 2025.

Manager Mikel Arteta has since insisted the club “100 per cent” followed correct protocols during that period.

Partey is due to appear at Westminster Magistrates Court on August 5, 2025, where legal proceedings will unfold.

The Crown Prosecution Service has emphasised the need for public restraint, reminding that Partey is presumed innocent until proven guilty and that his right to a fair trial must be protected.

In a bold step toward transforming public service through innovation, the Government of Ghana has launched a pioneering Artificial Intelligence (AI) Bootcamp designed to equip Cabinet Ministers and key government officials with the strategic understanding to harness AI in national development.

The three-day high-level training, which opened yesterday in Accra, is being spearheaded by the Ministry of Communication, Digital Technology and Innovations, in collaboration with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP). The initiative marks a significant national milestone as Ghana positions itself at the forefront of Africa’s digital revolution.

Leading the charge was the sector minister, Hon. Samuel Nartey George, who stressed the urgency for Ghana to embrace AI as a national imperative. He noted that the application of AI across sectors could revolutionize governance, improve public service delivery, and enhance national security.

“We must begin to incorporate artificial intelligence in strategic institutions, including our foreign missions, to strengthen data analysis and improve screening processes,” Hon. George stated. “AI must no longer be seen as a futuristic concept—it is here, and Ghana must lead in its integration.”

The Bootcamp brings together Ministers, Ministers of State, and AI focal persons from all ministries to co-develop practical, AI-driven solutions tailored to their operational mandates. Each ministry is expected to leave the training with concrete AI use cases and a roadmap for implementation, which will become part of their performance indicators moving forward.

According to the Minister, the goal is not to turn policymakers into programmers but to ensure they possess the knowledge and vision to drive policy decisions in an era of rapid technological advancement.

He cited examples such as the Ministry of Health potentially establishing a national health intelligence hub that uses AI to track and predict outbreaks of communicable diseases—a real-time solution that can reshape how healthcare is delivered.

The Bootcamp enjoys the full support of the Presidency. President John Dramani Mahama has directed that AI deployment be treated as a government-wide agenda, not limited to a single ministry.

“The President was unequivocal—this must be a cross-sectoral drive,” Hon. George said. “Every Ministry must understand and incorporate AI in its core functions.”

Officially opening the session, Chief of Staff Hon. Julius Debrah underscored the administration’s commitment to modern governance, announcing that the AI initiatives developed during the Bootcamp would be formally adopted as Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) for all Ministries.

By the end of the three-day programme, participating Ministries are expected to submit actionable implementation plans, with technical support from the Ministry of Communication and oversight from the UNDP.

As Ghana embraces this digital transition, the AI Bootcamp signals a new era of intelligent governance—one that blends innovation with accountability to build a smarter, more resilient nation.

Afenyo-Markin apologises to Deputy Minister-Designate for Health

0

Minority Leader Alexander Afenyo-Markin has issued a public apology to Deputy Minister-Designate for Health, Dr. Grace Ayensu-Danquah, following criticisms sparked by his earlier comments about her nomination.

The apology was made during Dr. Ayensu-Danquah’s vetting before Parliament’s Appointments Committee, where Afenyo-Markin took a moment to address the concerns directly.

His earlier remarks, made during a parliamentary debate, questioned the basis of her nomination.

Many interpreted his comments as suggesting her appointment was influenced by “strange reasons,” a phrase widely seen as implying favouritism over other female Members of Parliament, such as Dr. Zanetor Agyeman-Rawlings.

The statement drew strong criticism from both within and outside Parliament, with many calling it dismissive of women’s competence and contributions in public office.

It also reignited broader concerns over gender equity in political appointments.

Seizing the moment during the vetting, Afenyo-Markin said:

“I want to say to you that to the extent that, as a colleague, we play, we relate very formally, informally, and at that moment unbeknownst to me, you felt I had crossed the red line, I say to you I’m sorry. Is that fair?”

Dr. Ayensu-Danquah, who doubles as Essikado-Ketan MP, responding calmly, accepted the apology:

“That is fair, and I’m very appreciative that you have taken this opportunity to apologise. And I hope that moving forward, we will have a better relationship. And I’m very grateful and humbled. Thank you.”

The exchange helped ease what could have been a contentious vetting process.

Beyond the immediate incident, the situation reignited national conversations about the role of women in governance.

Although female representation in Ghana’s Parliament has grown to around 14.5%, it still falls below the global average and the often-cited 30% target championed by gender advocates.

Former head of Central African football body jailed for war crimes

0

The former head of the Central African Republic (CAR) football federation, Patrice-Edouard Ngaïssona, has been found guilty of committing 28 war crimes and crimes against humanity by judges at the International Criminal Court (ICC).

He was accused, alongside Alfred Yekatom, of co-ordinating attacks against the country’s Muslim population in 2013-14.

Yekatom, nicknamed Rambo, was found guilty of 20 charges. The judges gave their verdict after a trial lasting almost four years involving more than 170 witnesses and nearly 20,000 items of evidence.

Ngaïssona was sentenced to 12 years and Yekatom 15 years.

Violence has gripped the CAR for much of the past decade, but a recent peace deal led to the dissolution of two rebel groups this month.

CAR was plunged into turmoil in 2013 when predominately Muslim rebels from the Séléka group seized power in the majority Christian country.

A band of mostly Christian militias, called the anti-Balaka, rose up to counter Séléka after then-President François Bozizé was ousted.

Ngaïssona and Yekatom were convicted of numerous crimes, including murder, torture and persecuting a religious group.

Ngaïssona was acquitted of rape, while Yekatom was cleared of enlisting children as soldiers.

Both men had denied all charges.

The prosecution set out the alleged system of command, saying Ngaïssona provided funds and instructions to anti-Balaka groups in 2013 and 2014.

Yekatom was a commander who allegedly led fighters into the capital, Bangui, on 5 December 2013 where civilians were slaughtered.

The prosecution said the pair’s strategy was to make all Muslims their target, describing them as “enemies of the nation”.

Yekatom authorised his fighters to attack Muslim civilians, including to slit throats, cut off ears and bury people alive, the prosecution alleged.

Asked to enter a plea at the start of the trial, both men rejected all the charges.

Media reports at the time indicates that at least 1,000 people were killed in tit-for-tat clashes in Bangui in December 2013, and half the city’s population fled in that month alone.

Who is Patrice-Edouard Ngaïssona?

He was the self-declared political co-ordinator of anti-Balaka forces.

Ngaïssona was barred from running for CAR president in 2015 because of his alleged role in the atrocities.

He is a former head of the CAR’s football federation and briefly served as sports minister before being elected to the executive committee of the Confederation of African Football (Caf) in February 2018.

His appointment was criticised by several human rights groups.

“If the allegations were true, I wouldn’t be here today,” he told AFP news agency at the time. “[I don’t] mix politics and sport – everything I’ve done has been for the good of my country.”

French authorities arrested him in December 2018 and he was transferred to the ICC in January 2019.

Ghanaian community in Côte d’Ivoire pushes for Chamber of Commerce to boost cross-border trade

0

The Ghanaian community in Côte d’Ivoire is advancing efforts, in collaboration with stakeholders, to establish a Chamber of Commerce and Industry aimed at boosting trade relations between Ghana and its Francophone neighbour.

The proposed Chamber is expected to serve as a strategic platform to facilitate commerce, promote regulatory compliance, and support Ghanaian entrepreneurs operating in Côte d’Ivoire.

Speaking at a stakeholders’ engagement in Abidjan, the leader of the Ghanaian community, Nana Abraffi Koto, said the initiative is timely and would benefit both countries.

“It will strengthen economic ties between the two neighbouring nations,” Nana Koto stated, adding that plans have been well-structured to roll out the chamber, which will help streamline business operations along the Ghana–Côte d’Ivoire corridor.

She also noted that the community is working closely with the Ghana National Chamber of Commerce and Industry (GNCCI) to ensure a successful rollout.

The President of the GNCCI, Stephanie Abass Miezan, led a delegation to meet with the leadership of the Ghanaian community. At the engagement, both parties expressed their commitment to formalising a partnership that reflects mutual interest and shared goals.

“The new partnership will create a structured platform for Ghanaian entrepreneurs and investors in Côte d’Ivoire. It will facilitate smoother trade, investment, and regulatory compliance,” Ms Miezan said.

She highlighted that the Chamber’s advocacy role would be vital in navigating local rules and representing the interests of Ghanaian business operators in Côte d’Ivoire.

“We’ll also focus on capacity building, equipping the new leadership with the knowledge and skills needed to succeed. This includes guidance on business promotion within the local market,” she added, announcing that a formal inauguration date would be set soon.

The Ghana–Côte d’Ivoire Chamber of Commerce is expected to bridge existing trade gaps, address challenges such as customs procedures, taxation, and market access, and promote Ghanaian products and services within Ivorian markets.

Ghanaian business leaders in Côte d’Ivoire have welcomed the move, anticipating that it will reduce bureaucratic barriers and increase investor confidence.

Nana Abraffi Koto, who also leads ECOWAS nationals in Côte d’Ivoire, expressed optimism that the Chamber would address the recurring challenges Ghanaian businesses face, particularly in import and export activities.

“We’re working on documentation to address issues like border restrictions, especially the ban on rice and maize trade. Given the sisterly relationship between our countries, we believe these restrictions should be revisited,” she said.

She reaffirmed the community’s commitment to working with Ivorian authorities and ECOWAS institutions to promote regional trade integration.

With both Ghana and Côte d’Ivoire being influential members of ECOWAS, the establishment of this Chamber is expected to significantly enhance intra-West African trade and foster deeper economic cooperation between the two nations.

The camp of Daddy Lumba says an official statement will be released soon The camp of Daddy Lumba says an official statement will be released soon

On Saturday, July 26, 2025, rumours popped up on social media that legendary Highlife artiste, Daddy Lumba, had passed away.

Various blogs and accounts spread the news accompanied with pictures and songs from the Highlife maestro.

However, there has not been any official confirmation from any public figure or personality close to Daddy Lumba.

Soon enough, counter reports from other blogs and news portals claimed that Daddy Lumba is actually alive and kicking.

These blogs claimed to have direct confirmation from the family and asked for such rumours about his death to be quelled.

GhanaWeb then decided to find out things for itself. From the findings, a source close to the family confirmed that Daddy Lumba is well.

“Again, I’m told Daddy Lumba is alive and healthy. Family is surprised by the death rumors,” a close source said to GhanaWeb.

More calls were made and another source working at Daddy Lumba FM, a media platform owned by the legend Daddy Lumba, claimed that an initial inquiry confirmed that “everything is positive.”

However, upon further probing, the source went back for more information.

A few minutes later, the source came with new information that the family of Daddy Lumba will come out with an official statement soon to confirm or deny the rumors.

As it stands, conflicting reports are all round, but sources close to the family indicate that things are “positive.”

Fans, friends and the nation at hand await the official statement from the camp of Daddy Lumba.

But this is not the first time the award-winning star has found himself as the subject of death rumours.

In 2015, similar news broke out, with Daddy Lumba coming out to debunk it himself, expressing his anger at such news.

In 2020, another series of rumours popped up, with a similar reaction.

Another five years later and fresh rumors are in, leaving Ghanaians hopeful that they are debunked again.

GhanaWeb is following the news closely and will update you with any new information.

PSWU lauds cedi stability, urges support for state institutions

The cedi has appreciated by 42% in recent times The cedi has appreciated by 42% in recent times

The Public Services Workers Union (PSWU) has commended the government for stabilising the Ghana cedi and urged sustained efforts to consolidate the gains for national progress.

Ernest Gardesey, Bono Regional Chairman of the PSWU, in an interview with the Ghana News Agency (GNA), praised the 2025 Mid-Year Budget Review presented to Parliament by Finance minister Dr Cassiel Ato Forson, describing it as reflective of improving economic indicators.

He called on the government to adequately resource public institutions to empower them to deliver on their mandates effectively, noting that most state institutions depended entirely on government funding.

“If public institutions are expected to execute their duties effectively, then the government must also commit to resourcing them adequately,” he said, citing Section 9 of the Labour Act 651, which mandates employers to provide workers with the tools to perform their duties.

“Beyond salaries, workers need the resources to deliver quality services that benefit the wider public,” Gardesey added.

He also lauded the reduction in ministerial appointments and portfolios, describing it as a positive sign of fiscal discipline.

“So far, there are no reports of scandal or waste in government expenditure, which shows a tightening of belts,” he noted, adding that declining inflation, lower transportation costs, and reduced prices of some food items were signs of improvement.

However, he emphasised the need for investment in sustainable agriculture, stressing the importance of year-round farming to stabilise food prices and reduce inflation.

“If we grow our own food consistently, we can ease inflation, improve food security, and enhance the socio-economic livelihoods of the people,” Gardesey said.

‘We were promised houses but got cash instead’ – Awudu Issaka opens up on Ghana’s ’95 U-17 World Cup glory

Ghana beat Brazil to lift their second U-17 World Cup trophy in 1995 Ghana beat Brazil to lift their second U-17 World Cup trophy in 1995

Former Black Starlets playmaker, Awudu Issaka, has revealed that the players who delivered Ghana’s second FIFA U-17 World Cup title in 1995 were promised houses by the government but never received them.

According to Issaka, the promises made to the young heroes of that unforgettable campaign in Ecuador were never fulfilled, leaving a lingering sense of betrayal nearly three decades after their triumph over Brazil in the final.

In an interview with Sporty FM, the U-17 World Cup winner revealed how the team members were awarded money instead of the initial houses promised.

“We were promised houses but were given money instead after winning the 1995 U-17 World Cup,” he said.

On August 20, 1995, Ghana’s U-17 team etched their names in global football history with a thrilling 3-2 win over Brazil at the iconic Estadio Monumental in Guayaquil.

It was a pulsating final that captured the imagination of fans both at home and abroad. Issaka, dazzling with flair, helped set up one of the goals, and Ghana’s free-flowing style was praised as among the best the tournament had ever seen.

That generation, which included the likes of Abu Iddrisu, Baba Sule, and Emmanuel Bentil, was hailed as the future of Ghanaian football.

Their triumph was not just sporting, it was symbolic. The nation celebrated them as golden boys, and leaders at the time promised them rewards befitting their achievement.

GoldBod achievement overblown – Fokuo

0

The Member of Parliament for Manso Nkwanta, Tweneboah Fokuo, has cast doubt on the Ghana Gold Board’s (GoldBod) reported performance, describing the touted achievements as exaggerated and lacking transparent evidence.

His comments follow recent claims by the Board that it has crossed the $5 billion mark in gold export value for the first half of 2025, a figure that surpasses the entire export value for 2024, which stood at $4.6 billion.

According to Mr. Fokuo, the timeline for these achievements is simply too short to warrant the level of praise being attributed to the GoldBod.

“The impact of GoldBod is being overblown. It has been around for about three months. You mean in three months they’ve done so much as they claim? They should show it. They should show it in terms of figures.”

Mr. Fokuo questioned the basis of the performance claims and called for detailed disclosures to back the numbers, arguing that while the figures may appear impressive on the surface, the Board is yet to prove the direct impact of its policies within such a limited operational period.

The Ghana Gold Board was restructured and granted expanded powers under the Ghana Gold Board Act, 2025 (Act 1140), with a renewed mandate to formalise, regulate, and monitor gold exports.

On Tuesday, July 1, GoldBod Chief Executive Officer, Sammy Gyamfi held a press briefing in Accra to announce the $5 billion milestone. He credited the increase to tighter regulatory oversight, stronger compliance from licensed exporters, and a streamlined licensing regime rolled out under the new Act.

Mr. Gyamfi also revealed that the country is on track to reach a 60-tonne gold export target by the end of July 2025, attributing the growth to reforms aimed at curbing smuggling and improving transparency in the sector.

The appointment of Korean-born Ghanaian, Kojo Choi, by President John Dramani Mahama as Ghana’s chif diplomat to South Korea has brought to light the issue of national identity and the eligibility of dual citizenship holders to occupy public office.

It appears that Kojo Choi would not be the first person of Korean descent, but rather a Ghanaian by naturalization, to receive a government appointment.

Dr Gobind Nankani, an economist of Indian descent and a Ghanaian citizen, was appointed by the late former President Professor John Evans Atta Mills as a senior advisor on the government’s economic management team.

Dr Nankani held a PhD and MA in Economics from Harvard University, as well as a BSc from the University of Ghana.

He had an illustrious 30-year career at the World Bank, where he held senior economist and management positions across multiple regions and sectors.

He also served as Executive Director of the International Growth Centre in London.

In 2008, the government of Ghana honored him with the Order of the Volta for his outstanding contributions to social development and financial policy in Ghana and across Africa.

Dr Nankani was also the Vice-President of the World Bank’s Poverty Reduction and Economic Management Network and a former President of Global Development Network (GDN).

He died in September 2011 at the age of 64.

Lecturer Questions Government’s Economic Narrative Consistency

0

Joshua Jebuntie ZaatoJoshua Jebuntie Zaato
Joshua Jebuntie Zaato

A University of Ghana political scientist has challenged the Mahama administration’s messaging on economic inheritance.

Dr. Joshua Jebuntie Zaato contends the government presents contradictory assessments when addressing domestic versus international audiences. His remarks follow Finance Minister Cassiel Ato Forson’s mid-year budget declaration that Ghana was “a crime scene” economically when the National Democratic Congress assumed power in January 2025.

Dr. Zaato specifically highlighted a perceived discrepancy during his July 26 appearance on TV3’s Key Points program. “When meeting the IMF, they praise the former government’s economic foundation, yet tell citizens they inherited nothing positive,” he stated. The academic referenced the administration’s dual narratives as evidence of inconsistent communication strategies regarding economic stewardship.

Finance Minister Forson defended the government’s position during his budget presentation, citing specific inherited challenges. He referenced a “weak financial sector with significant non-performing loans” and a “derailing IMF programme” as key issues inherited from the previous Akufo-Addo administration. The minister maintained President Mahama has initiated structural reforms yielding visible recovery signs.

This debate unfolds amid Ghana’s economic recalibration under its current NDC government. The administration faces competing pressures to acknowledge stabilization efforts while justifying its reform agenda. Dr. Zaato’s critique suggests the communication approach risks undermining policy credibility domestically, particularly as recovery indicators gradually emerge.

2025 Mid-Year Budget Review misleads public on economic gains – Fokuo

0

The Member of Parliament for Manso Nkwanta, Tweneboah Fokuo, has accused the Finance Minister, Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson of failing to provide sufficient context and clarity on the figures and indicators cited in the 2025 Mid-year Budget Review statement.

Speaking on The Big Issue on Saturday, July 26, he expressed concern that the review lacked transparency in linking economic improvements to real policy actions.

“The budget was overly optimistic. No credence was given to the previous administration that set the pace, and no acknowledgement of the global economic challenges that have impacted us. It didn’t unpack the issues for Ghanaians to understand why the figures came out the way they did,” he said.

He added that while the government touted improved macroeconomic indicators, the review failed to explain how those gains were achieved.

“They were presented as if they were the results of recent interventions, but that is contrary. I believe yes, we have seen good numbers, but the Ministry should help Ghanaians understand how we got here.”

Mr. Fokuo’s comments come in the wake of the government’s presentation of the 2025 Mid-Year Budget Review, during which Finance Minister Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson outlined several key developments, including the government’s intervention in the National Investment Bank (NIB) and payroll reforms.

One of the highlights of the Mid-Year Budget review was the government’s decision to recapitalise NIB, a move he said saved over 900 jobs.

The Finance Minister also disclosed that efforts are underway to address payroll fraud in the public sector. According to him, over 14,000 ghost names have been identified on the government payroll, and payroll validators who facilitated the inclusion of these names will be held accountable.

Despite these announcements, opposition MPs like Tweneboah Fokuo insist that the budget presentation lacked depth and did not acknowledge the foundation laid by previous administrations or the complexity of the current economic environment.

Ghana’s Black Queens secured their first Women’s Africa Cup of Nations medal since 2016, defeating South Africa 4-3 on penalties in the bronze-medal match.

Assistant captain Alice Kusi expressed relief at clinching fourth overall WAFCON bronze for Ghana under coach Kim Lars Bjorkegren, appointed months earlier.

Kusi, named Player of the Match, stated: “I’m happy we didn’t go home empty-handed. We weren’t just here to participate we made an impact.” She thanked Ghanaian supporters for backing the team through group-stage challenges, noting nationwide encouragement seen “on media.” The forward emphasized the medal’s significance despite falling short of gold.

The victory marks a milestone for Bjorkegren’s revitalized squad, with Kusi’s tournament performance underscoring her leadership role. Ghana previously medaled in 1998 (bronze), 2002 (silver), and 2016 (bronze).

Rejected by their stepfather at 9, he and his twin turned to eating leftovers, sleeping in the cold

John Baptist Ayedze and his twin were forced into an early street life because nobody wanted them John Baptist Ayedze and his twin were forced into an early street life because nobody wanted them

To especially mothers, the gift of children is a precious thing; one that they do not allow even the most daunting circumstances to steal away from them, but in the case of John Baptist Ayedze (now a lawyer), and his twin brother, the broken pieces of his family launched them into early lives of the unknown.

And it all started when they were about nine (9) years old and their mother had to re-marry.

What was supposed to be an opportunity for them to be welcomed with open-arms under a new roof, was their first rejection – right in the face because, “the man she got married to said that he did not want have anything to do with this boy.”

It was a place between a rock and a hard place for their mother but she wanted to remain married and so, as John shared on Joy FM, they had to find their way out and begin their solo survival.

But their father was alive at the time so they turned to him, largely hopeful, even though, as he also shared, “I’ve never seen the two of them (parents) together since I grew up.”

Luck, once again, was not on their side when their father – who was never in the picture, because until then, they had only been living with their mother, equally rejected them.

“So, that’s how the troubles started. I was 9-10 years old. I tell people that since I was 9 years old, I’ve been taking care of myself to date… my mom agreed to this but now, I think she doesn’t agree that it was a good idea but that’s what happened.

“I have one brother – we are twins. So, we had to go to my dad and he said no and that is where the issues started. I left home with him but along the line, he travelled along the line but we went through the difficulties together before he finally went to the US,” he shared.

As to how they survived from such a young age, also after their final attempt with an uncle from their maternal side being disinterested in taking them in, he said the streets became their new home, while the dustbins were their wardrobes.

“I got my dressing from the dustbins. My shoes, I go to the dustbin. So, what I did was that during the day, I would go and do some surveillance work, check one or two things and place them at strategic points and during the night, I just go and pick them.

“And then eating, we go to the chop bars and all those places where people eat and then go for the leftovers. That was how I used to get my food. It was really difficult,” he explained.

Ghana’s Sports and Recreation Minister, Kofi Adams, has congratulated the Black Queens following their third-place finish at the 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco.

Ghana edged South Africa 4-3 on penalties after a 1-1 draw to secure their first medal at the tournament since 2016.

The Black Queens, who also beat South Africa in that 2016 bronze final, showed grit and resilience to recover from a goal down and eventually triumph in the shootout.

“As the sector Minister, I wish to extend my heartfelt congratulations to the Black Queens of Ghana for winning the bronze medal at the just-ended Women’s African Cup of Nations in Morocco,” said Adams in a statement.

“Your remarkable achievement is a testament to your hard work, determination, and team spirit throughout the tournament.”

“You have proven that Ghana is a shining star in African football, and your success is worth commendation by all Ghanaians. Ghana believed in you, and you made us all proud as a nation.”

Ghana trailed at half-time after a goalkeeping error allowed Nonhlanhla Mthandi to put South Africa ahead.

The Queens responded with renewed urgency in the second half, and Alice Kusi equalised in the 68th minute from Chantelle Boye-Hlorkah’s cross.

Although both sides had further chances, the game headed into penalties. Despite a miss from Boye-Hlorkah, South Africa failed to convert two spot kicks, handing Ghana a well-deserved bronze.

The Ghana Audit Service will recover GH¢150.4 million in unearned salaries from 53,311 separated staff over the 2023–2024 period.

This follows a nationwide payroll audit commissioned by the government across all 16 regions as part of efforts to sanitise the public sector payroll and eliminate ghost names.

Dr Cassiel Ato Forson, Minister of Finance, disclosed this while presenting the Government’s 2025 Mid-Year Fiscal Policy Review dubbed “Resetting the Economy for the Ghana We Want 2025.”

The exercise would affect separated staff who have retired, resigned, been terminated, are on leave without pay or deceased, yet remain on the government payroll.

Dr Forson said the Ministry would enforce a monthly payroll validation process and apply strict sanctions to individuals who approve ghost names for salary payments.

“Let me use this opportunity to strongly caution those who validate ‘ghosts’ across the public service that they will be personally liable for the loss of public funds.”

“The Ministry of Finance will continue to monitor the payroll and put in place measures to prevent ‘ghost names’ on our payroll,” he added.

Providing an update on arrears and payables as of end-2024, the Minister stated that out of GH¢68.7 billion audited, GH¢28.3 billion had been validated for payment.

He said GH¢3.6 billion was rejected due to errors, duplications and non-compliance with Public Financial Management and procurement rules.

“An amount of GH¢562.6 million was without adequate supporting documents, and GH¢27.3 billion was pending validation,” he added.

Speaker, Parliament of Ghana endorse KGL Group’s CSR achievements

By Daniel Adu Darko

Accra, July 26, GNA – The Speaker of Parliament, Mr Alban Sumana Kingsford Bagbin has lauded the KGL Group for its exemplary Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives, describing the company’s efforts as a benchmark for private sector contributions towards national development.

Speaking at the official launch of the 2nd edition of the Democracy Cup in Accra, the Speaker and other Members of Parliament praised the Ghanaian-owned conglomerate for its sustained commitment to social impact through the KGL Foundation.

The Democracy Cup, a flagship initiative of the Parliament of Ghana, is aimed at promoting peace, unity, and civic engagement through sports.

This year’s edition has gained significant momentum, largely due to the full sponsorship by the KGL Group, led by its Executive Chairman, Mr. Alex Dadey.

“The sponsorship by KGL Group of the Democracy Cup is a significant demonstration of the company’s corporate social responsibility engagements. This goes beyond conventional charity to include economic, social, environmental, health, education, and youth development,” said Speaker Bagbin.

The Speaker called on other private sector players to emulate KGL’s approach in partnering with state institutions to drive sustainable development and promote national cohesion.

The first edition of the Democracy Cup launched in 2024, faced challenges due to inadequate funding and low public engagement. However, with KGL Group’s financial and strategic backing, the second edition is expected to attract broader national participation and impact.

Over the past five years, the KGL Foundation has implemented several multi-million cedi projects across various sectors, including: Construction of an ultra-modern Mental Health Facility in Kumasi in partnership with Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, renovation and support for the Accra Psychiatric Hospital, and development of a national Mental Health Index (MHI), investment in football development, including support for the Ghana Football Association, the Black Stars, and the U-17 league.

KGL Foundation had also sponsored the annual Millennium Marathon and provided medical incubators to hospitals nationwide.

In compliance with Section 2(3) of the National Lotto Act, 2006 (Act 722), the KGL Group allocates a portion of its profit to fund social interventions and philanthropic work across the country.

In addition to its CSR efforts, KGL Group has made significant contributions to national revenue through the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) and the National Lottery Authority (NLA), all at no cost or financial risk to the state.

Mr. Alex Dadey reaffirmed the Group’s commitment to public-private partnerships (PPP), emphasising that such models should “not become a financial burden to the State or a means of siphoning public funds.”

The Parliament of Ghana, through the Democracy Cup, continues to promote unity and national development, goals that align strongly with the values and mission of the KGL Group.

Jamaican Star Hezron ignites emotions and advocacy during his Canada tour

The festival, which featured numerous talented artists, attracted music lovers from across the globe The festival, which featured numerous talented artists, attracted music lovers from across the globe

The vibrant city of Vancouver was set ablaze with rhythm, soul, and purpose in July 2025 during the electrifying Vancouver Reggae Sunsplash, held at the Vancouver Museum of Art.

Headlining the two-day event as part of his “Man on a Mission” Canada Tour 2025, Jamaican reggae icon Hezron also known by his African name as Kwame Bonsu delivered a performance that not only entertained but deeply moved the diverse audience.

The festival, which featured numerous talented artists, attracted music lovers from across the globe.

Backed by a spirited live band, Hezron performed tracks from his acclaimed “Man on a Mission” album, along with other singles, sending the crowd into cheers and joy. But one song stood out “Save the Children.”

As the melodic notes of “Save the Children” filled the air, the atmosphere shifted. The heartfelt lyrics and message of child protection and advocacy resonated deeply with attendees.

A touching moment unfolded when Hezron noticed how children in the crowd were enjoying his music.

He invited several of them to the front of the stage to join in the performance. Among them was a young girl living with a disability, who was so immersed in the show that she joyfully stood up from her chair to dance close to the stage.

Overcome with emotion, Hezron abruptly signaled the band to pause. His voice trembled as he spoke, “Something just touched my heart… something just touched my heart… something just touched my heart,” he repeated, struggling to hold back tears.

“See everyone, here’s a little girl who came out to listen and enjoy music, reggae music. She’s listening, getting up to dance, and having a good time. This is the power of music. It touches the soul and heals. Look at this little girl.”

Hezron then knelt down, reached for the girl’s hand, gently shook it, and asked her name. As he resumed singing “Save the Children,” he invited more children, including the young girl, to join him in singing the chorus.

The crowd erupted in applause and emotion as Hezron performed alongside the children, reinforcing the song’s powerful message: protecting children is a shared global responsibility. At the end of his set, he invited the girl back on stage for a final bow, a moving moment of love, inclusion, and the healing power of music.

This heartfelt act wasn’t just a show of compassion; it reflected who Hezron is at his core, a father, a family man, and a passionate advocate for children’s welfare.

His strong connection to family and his mission to protect the next generation shone through, seamlessly blending his role as a global reggae ambassador with his humanitarian advocacy.

Among the notable attendees was Hezron’s mother, brother, and nephew, who flew from the United States to Canada to support him. Also present was Miss Cynthia Raymond, CEO of LynneX Ventures, a social impact company working across arts, culture, and wellness.

Raymond, who is championing the “Save the Children Project,” a campaign inspired directly by Hezron’s music, praised him for his authenticity and influence, “Hezron’s music is a movement. What happened today wasn’t planned, it was felt. That’s what makes him a true leader and a man on a mission.”

The Vancouver Reggae Sunsplash not only delivered spectacular entertainment but also served as a global reminder of how music can advocate, unite, and heal. From electrifying performances to heartfelt interactions, the event marked a significant milestone in Hezron’s tour and underscored the powerful message his music carries.

With momentum from this unforgettable show, the “Man on a Mission” Canada Tour continues to sweep across cities, spreading messages of love, resilience, and purpose.
