Jubilation over new IGP reflects Dampare’s anti-corruption legacy

0

Security Analyst Prof. Kwesi Aning has weighed in on the jubilant reactions of police officers following the appointment of COP Christian Tetteh Yohuno as the new Inspector General of Police (IGP), interpreting it as a reflection of the transformative leadership of former IGP Dr. George Akuffo Dampare.

During COP Yohuno’s visit to the Police Headquarters after his swearing-in, officers were seen celebrating, cheering his leadership, and welcoming him with enthusiasm.

Some even openly sprayed money on the newly appointed IGP, signaling their excitement and approval of his appointment.

However, amid the celebrations, some personnel criticized former IGP Dampare, labeling him a “tyrant” and a “dictator” while asserting that his removal had “freed” the police service.

Speaking in an interview on Channel One Newsroom on Friday, Prof. Aning praised Dampare for his commitment to discipline and professionalism, which he believes reshaped the Ghana Police Service.

“What it means is that this is an individual and an officer who has transformed the service and made sure that the corruption, the clannism, the network that allowed people to take the law into their own hand simply did not work again,” Prof. Aning stated.

He emphasized that Dampare’s leadership dismantled entrenched systems of corruption and favoritism within the service.

Prof. Aning further noted that standing up for discipline and professionalism often comes at a cost.

“When you stand up for discipline and for professionalism, you don’t make friends,” he remarked, highlighting the challenges faced by leaders who prioritize integrity over popularity.

President John Dramani Mahama has urged the newly sworn-in Inspector General of Police (IGP), COP Christian Tetteh Yohuno, to uphold the highest levels of integrity and accountability in the police service.

Speaking at the swearing-in ceremony of the new IGP at the Jubilee House on Friday, March 14, 2025, President Mahama stated that Ghanaians expect a police administration that is disciplined, fair, and in tune with modern technologies.

“They (Ghanaians) want to see a police service that is not only professional and disciplined but also one that is fair and just. They want to be reassured that when they report crimes, they will receive a swift and impartial response. They want to trust that the police service will act in their best interest, free from undue influence and without discrimination.

“To achieve this, IGP, your leadership must be rooted in integrity, discipline, and innovation. The Ghana Police Service must continue to reform itself to meet the needs of our ever-changing society. Intelligence-led policing, community engagement, and effective deployment of modern technology must be at the core of our law enforcement strategy.”

He further tasked COP Tetteh Yohuno with tackling corruption in the police service.

“IGP, your role will also involve rooting out corruption within the service. Corruption in law enforcement undermines justice and weakens public confidence in our security agencies. It is crucial that all forms of unethical behavior, from bribery to the abuse of power, are decisively dealt with. We must build a service that is respected both locally and internationally for its professionalism and integrity,” he stated.

He is determined to reach the highest level and represent Ghana on the international stage.

Mills has already played for Ghana’s U-23 team (Black Meteors) but is eager for more, remaining committed to donning the Black Stars jersey.

The 19-year-old is prioritizing a call-up to the Black Stars over the U.S. national team, even though the U.S. Soccer Federation is monitoring his progress.

Born in Ghana but raised in the United States, the young center-back has built a promising career. He played in MLS Next Pro before making a move to Cyprus last month.

Speaking in an interview with Kolog Bonaventure, Lamptey-Mills reaffirmed his desire to play for Ghana and contribute to the national team’s success.

He insisted that if both Ghana and the U.S. approached him, he would choose the country of his parents—Ghana.

“Ghana needs to qualify for the World Cup again. And if I get an invite to help the cause, why not?”

“We all have something to offer the national team. It’s just about confidence and getting the invite. If I’m called, I will serve my country. It would be a dream come true to place my hand on the badge.”

“I’m not desperate, but it would be my pride to represent my mother and grandmother”

His manager, Benny Asharifi, also expressed confidence in his abilities:

“I trust Lamptey, and I know his qualities as a defender. He has a bright future.”

Mills has yet to feature for MEAP Nisou, but the club’s technical staff has spoken highly of his potential, tipping him to become a key member of the squad.

Dampare stands out amongst all IGPs

0

The Western Regional Director of the Motor Traffic and Transport Department (MTTD), DSP Seth Danso, has praised former Inspector General of Police (IGP) Dr. George Akuffo Dampare for his significant contributions to law enforcement in Ghana.

Speaking in an interview on Eyewitness News on Citi FM on Friday, DSP Danso highlighted the transformative leadership Dampare brought to the Ghana Police Service.

“I have served a lot of them [IGPs] and I have observed and followed their works,” he said. “But with the coming of Dr. George Akuffo Dampare, I think the face of policing in Ghana, seriously speaking, changed, and he did a lot. He set the bar so high.”

DSP Danso further described Dampare as exceptional, emphasizing his distinct impact compared to his predecessors.

“Among his peers, the IGPs that have come and gone, if he is one, I will say he is unique amongst all of them. He stands out, he stands tall amongst his peers,” he stated.

Dr. Dampare, who was appointed in 2021, introduced key policing reforms, including enhanced community engagement and stricter internal discipline, earning him recognition for reshaping the service.

It’s rare to see officers celebrating a new IGP – Former Police Detective [Audio]

0

Former police detective, Samuel Nana Appiah, has shared his thoughts on the appointment of COP Christian Tetteh Yohonu as the new Inspector General of Police (IGP), following the removal of Dr. George Akuffo Dampare.

Speaking in an interview on Asempa FM’s Ekosii Sen show, Mr. Appiah said police officers now feel a sense of relief, though they wished the change had come earlier.

“For the first time, we’ve seen police officers celebrating the appointment of an IGP. This is not common in the police service. When a new IGP is announced, there’s always curiosity about how he will work and what changes he will bring. It’s rare to see such excitement from officers, and it shows that something was not right before,” he said.

In the viral video capturing the jubilation, police officers are seen shouting, jumping, and hugging each other, with police sirens blaring in the background.

This has sparked discussions about the reasons behind their apparent joy.

According to Mr. Appiah, the jubilation is a reflection of the sense of relief felt by officers, though he believes the celebrations should be tempered with professionalism.

“For officers to openly show excitement in the presence of cameras and the public means they feel some relief. They wish the change had come sooner. But all in all, the work must continue, and there must be discipline. Officers must adhere to ethics and professional conduct,” he added.

However, Mr. Appiah acknowledged Dr. Dampare’s success in the area of crime fighting and police accountability.

“Dr. Dampare may not have been perfect in handling internal affairs, but he raised the bar high when it came to fighting crime and making the police more accountable. This is something the new IGP must continue to build upon.

“The job of the IGP must come with some discipline, and officers must work within the framework of the law, ensuring transparency and accountability at all levels,” he noted.

Kow Essuman reflects on transformative leadership experience at Harvard Kennedy School

0

Kow Essuman has described his recent participation in the Education Module: Global Leadership and Public Policy for the 21st Century at Harvard Kennedy School as a profound experience that reinforced the delicate balance between honour, privilege, and humility.

As a member of The Forum of Young Global Leaders (YGLs), Essuman had the unique opportunity to engage with an extraordinary cohort of high achievers from around the world.

The nine-day programme, which included discussions with esteemed figures such as Larry Summers, former US Treasury Secretary; David Rubenstein of the Carlyle Group; Rt. Hon. Dame Jacinda Ardern, former Prime Minister of New Zealand; and Anthony Foxx, former US Transport Secretary, provided an invaluable platform for deep learning and critical reflection.

Led by Professor Dan Levy, the programme challenged conventional notions of leadership and self-awareness.

“We often assume that super achievers have everything figured out and are immune to uncertainty, but this experience taught me otherwise,” Mr Essuman shared.

The rigorous academic sessions were complemented by moments of camaraderie, including a memorable football match in the cold, initiated by former Arsenal and AC Milan midfielder Mathieu Flamini, who was also a participant.

For him, this balance of intellectual stimulation and personal connection underscored the importance of self-care and appreciating life’s experiences.

Grateful for the opportunity, Essuman extended his heartfelt appreciation to the World Economic Forum team, particularly Professor Klaus Schwab, Ida Jeng Christensen, and Danny Richmond, for their unwavering belief in the YGLs and their potential to drive meaningful change.

He also expressed thanks to the Harvard Kennedy School faculty and staff, whose warmth and hospitality made the experience even more enriching.

“Their dedication ensured that despite the Cambridge cold, our stay was nothing short of exceptional,” he remarked.

As Essuman reflects on this transformative journey, he recognises the lasting impact of the bonds formed with fellow YGLs.

“A great bond has been formed, and I hope we continue to lean on each other as we strive to make the world a better place, one corner at a time,” he concluded.

Rev. Victor Kusi Boateng, Secretary to the Board of Trustees of the National Cathedral, has been arrested by the National Investigations Bureau (NIB) over an alleged double identity saga, citinewsroom.com has reported.

The embattled pastor is said to be assisting with investigations.

Background:

In a 2023 exposé, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, the MP for North Tongu and current Foreign Affairs minister, said that Rev. Victor Kusi Boateng held several passports.

“From unassailable and irreproachable documents in my possession, Rev. Victor Kusi-Boateng, AKA Kwabena Adu Gyamfi, uses multiple passports and multiple identification cards with different names and different dates of birth as his special modus operandi,” Ablakwa stated in a Facebook post.

He further alleged that JNS Talent Centre Ltd, owned by Rev. Victor Kusi Boateng was paid GH¢2.6 million to support the construction of the National Cathedral under the pseudonym Kwabena Adu Gyamfi.

Ablakwa claimed documents in his possession revealed that Kwabena Adu Gyamfi and Rev. Victor Kusi Boateng is the same person. Despite the allegations, Boateng still serves on the National Cathedral Board as an Executive Council Member/Director.

On Thursday, July 13, 2024, the Human Rights Court dismissed an application by Rev. Victor Kusi Boateng, the Founder and General Overseer of Power Chapel Worldwide. The application sought to restrain the Member of Parliament for North Tongu, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, from discussing him in relation to the National Cathedral.

Although the specific allegations against him are unknown, insider sources suggest that his dual identity is being looked into.

‘You will be shocked!’ – Atta Akyea on alleged dossier on Dampare presented to Akufo-Addo

0

Samuel Atta Akyea and Dr. George Akuffo Dampare Samuel Atta Akyea and Dr. George Akuffo Dampare

Former Member of Parliament (MP) for Abuakwa South, Samuel Atta Akyea, who chaired the parliamentary committee that investigated the leaked tape allegedly plotting to remove former IGP Dr. George Akuffo Dampare, has reacted to Dampare’s removal from office.

In a write-up sighted by GhanaWeb, Atta Akyea stated that Ghanaians would be shocked if they saw reports detailing the actions of the former IGP, which were presented to former President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.

He asserted that Dr. Dampare managed to conceal his true nature from the public but has now been exposed.

“There is a world of difference between reputation and character. You can pay good money to prop up your reputation so the world will believe you are the one who was crucified on the cross. The rented press are good at inflating reputation. Those who are superficial in orientation may even worship reputation, but character cannot hide; it’s like a pregnancy, and it will ultimately show.

“If you know the dossier on Dampare which was placed on the table of President Akufo-Addo, you will be shocked. Why he was romancing such evil,” Atta Akyea wrote.

The former New Patriotic Party (NPP) legislator claimed that some leading figures in the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC), including a “Bagbin” and an “Agalga,” were protecting Dr. Dampare from being removed from office.

He argued that President John Dramani Mahama made the right decision in dismissing Dampare.

“Why was NDC, pre-election, comfortable with Akufo-Addo’s appointee? Why were Bagbin, Agalga, and the cabal hell-bent on protecting the IGP?

“At least Mahama is displaying a modicum of common sense: How can you be disloyal to Akufo-Addo, your appointor, and be loyal to me?… A leader should not spray cologne on faeces,” he wrote.

About the removal of Dr. Dampare

On March 13, 2025, President John Dramani Mahama relieved Inspector General of Police Dr. George Akuffo Dampare of his duties.

He subsequently appointed COP Christian Tetteh Yohuno as the new Inspector General of Police.

A statement issued by the Minister of Government Communication, Felix Kwakye Ofosu, confirmed that the appointment was made in accordance with the Constitution and in consultation with the Council of State.

“President John Dramani Mahama has, in accordance with Articles 91 and 202 of the 1992 Constitution and in consultation with the Council of State, appointed Commissioner of Police (COP) Christian Tetteh Yohuno as the Inspector-General of Police.

“He replaces COP Dr. George Akuffo Dampare.

“COP Yohuno brings forty years of experience to the position of IGP and is expected to oversee the modernisation and transformation of the Ghana Police Service,” the statement read.

Madina MP introduces Bill to restrict post-election public service appointments

0

The Member of Parliament (MP) for Madina, Francis-Xavier Sosu, has announced plans to introduce a Private Member’s Bill aimed at restricting public service appointments after elections until the swearing-in of a new government.

This initiative comes in response to controversies surrounding the termination of public sector workers recruited after December 7, 2024.

Speaking to Citi News, Sosu argued that last-minute appointments by outgoing governments create governance challenges and should be addressed through legislation.

“By the 7th of December 2028 to the 7th of January 2029, there shouldn’t be any appointments. Once the law is clear on that, the whole issue of people wanting to appoint when they have lost power—only for the new government to also dismiss them because there is no budgetary allocation for them—will be resolved,” he explained.

He emphasized that ensuring a clear legal framework would prevent unnecessary dismissals and disruptions within the public sector.

“I believe that we can simply cure this by amending the law, and that is why we have put together a proposal, which we are presenting before the Parliament of Ghana. It is currently undergoing review, and once the law is ready, I am sure it will be made known to the people of Ghana,” he added.

The proposed bill is expected to spark discussions on governance practices and the management of public appointments during political transitions.

Ghanaian entrepreneur and Guinness World Record contender, Afua Asantewaa, has stated that the only thing she received from a government official during her first sing-a-thon attempt was medicine.

In an interview with Nana Romeo, shared on Instagram on March 13, 2025, Afua Asantewaa said contrary to claims she had received cars and an apartment from the previous government, the only thing she received was medicine to cure her sore throat from the former vice president, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia.

“I didn’t receive anything from the government. The only thing I got was a medicine to heal my throat and that was from the former vice president. When he visited me during the performance, she said.

Afua Asantewaa, however, clarified that although she was informed that some individuals and organisations had supported her with gifts, most of the gifts presented to her during the contest never actually reached her.

“I am told people gave gifts and cash. However, I would be lying if I said I received them moreover I was working with a team so most of this thing went through them. Also, some people in T-shirts had my name. I don’t even have a list that contains the names of people who supported me financially,” she stated.

Preferred by Nature, a leading sustainability organisation, is hosting an exclusive event focused on navigating the complexities of the European Union Deforestation Regulation (EUDR).

This seminar is designed to cut through the confusion surrounding the new EU Deforestation Regulation and clarify its impact on the cocoa supply chain.

Through engaging presentations and panel discussions, the event aims to address challenges, share practical solutions for compliance, and encourage collaboration among stakeholders.

It provides a platform for industry players to exchange ideas and work towards a sustainable and cooperative future for Ghana’s cocoa sector.

The European Union Deforestation Regulation (EUDR) represents a major shift in global trade policies, requiring businesses to ensure that products sold in the EU are not linked to deforestation.

Set to take effect in 2025, the regulation applies to key commodities such as cattle, soy, palm oil, wood, cocoa, coffee, and rubber, along with their derived products.

The regulation seeks to combat deforestation by imposing strict due diligence obligations on companies, requiring them to prove that their products do not originate from deforested land.

Two pro-NPP media outlets, Wontumi TV and Ken City Media, have expressed their frustration with the Minority Caucus of Parliament for allegedly sidelining them from party press conferences. Representatives from both media houses have vowed to boycott future NPP press events in protest.

Speaking on Wontumi TV, Oheneba Nana Asiedu criticised the NPP for neglecting the station despite it’s loyalty to the party. “I won’t speak about their press conference because they have decided to forsake Wontumi TV and Wontumi Radio. Tomorrow, if anyone makes mistakes and speaks about the Minority’s press conference, I will personally take them off air”he stated.

Asiedu further alleged that when Wontumi TV sought clarification from NPP leaders about their exclusion, they were told there was no budget allocation for them.

“The last time we called Annoh-Dompreh, he told us their budget did not cover Wontumi TV and FM, yet they invited Accra based non-NPP stations. Today because of this attitude, Bawumia is losing the minority caucus of parliament” he said.

Ken City Media—including Oman FM, NET2 TV, Nap Radio, and Ash FM—also expressed disappointment that despite being regarded as the mouthpiece of the NPP, they were consistently left out of party press events.

“Today I am very said. Ken City Media has always been there for the NPP. Even the minority leader confirmed that we are the mouthpiece of the party. We have projected the NPP far and wide, yet when they hold press conferences, not a single Ken City station is invited. What they are doing is not right.” Lawyer Annoh-Dartey said.

He urged the party to include Ken City Media in major events such as budget presentations and policy discussions, stressing that the had endured hardship to support the party.

The growing discontent among pro-NPP media houses raises concerns about internal unity as the party navigates post-election loses.

It includes a diverse group of stakeholders from government, the private sector, civil society, academia, and technical communities, all of whom play a key role in fostering inclusive dialogue on internet governance issues.

Resetting agenda

“We find ourselves at a defining moment in Ghana’s digital transformation journey, where it is stricter to not just move forward but also to pause, reflect and also reset. Today, as we launch this important platform and initiative, we are also resetting Ghana’s digital agenda,” he said.

Dr Tanko Rashid Computer is Co-Chair of the Ghana IGF Multistakeholder Advisory Group

Globalisation

The Member of Parliament for Tempane, Lydia Lamisi Akanvariba, stated that globalization has brought nations closer together, making it essential to have conversations about the most visible aspects of the world in ways that drive meaningful change.

She acknowledged that while the internet has been a blessing to humanity, it also comes with its challenges, providing opportunities to discuss how to secure the sustainability of the digital space.

“The visibility and impact of globalization in nearly every aspect of life can largely be attributed to the rise of the internet.”

She continued, “This forum offers an opportunity to propose ideas for ensuring the sustainability of digital policies, while also exploring innovative strategies to minimize inefficiency, promote digital inclusiveness, and build capacity to address the challenges posed by the internet.”

Ronaldo

Brazilian football icon Ronaldo has withdrawn from the race to become president of the Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF) after facing resistance from the country’s regional federations.

The 48-year-old, who played 98 times for Brazil and won two World Cups, had aimed to challenge current CBF president Ednaldo Rodrigues, whose term ends in March 2026. However, Ronaldo revealed that 23 out of 27 regional federations refused to meet with him, expressing support for Rodrigues’ re-election.

“On my first contact with the 27 regional federations, I found 23 closed doors,” Ronaldo stated. “The federations refused to receive me on the grounds of their satisfaction with the current administration and support for [Rodrigues’] re-election.”

Under the CBF’s voting structure, regional federations hold the most influence, with three votes each. Serie A clubs get two votes, while Serie B sides have one vote each.

Ronaldo expressed disappointment over the lack of dialogue but acknowledged the federations’ right to support Rodrigues. With Ronaldo stepping aside, Rodrigues is now expected to run unopposed in the upcoming election.

Ronaldo, a World Cup winner in 1994 and 2002, retired from international football in 2011 after a 17-year career.

Demonstration in Trump Tower after arrest of activist

0

New York, Mar. 14, (dpa/GNA) – Dozens of people demonstrated inside Trump Tower in New York City against the arrest and planned deportation of Mahmoud Khalil, a Palestinian student who played a leading role in last year’s pro-Gaza protests on the campus of Columbia University.

Jewish Voice for Peace, an organization that advocates for Palestinian rights, said on social media: “Police arrested hundreds of protestors including Jewish elders, descendants of Holocaust survivors, and students, dragging them out of a sit-in at Trump Tower by their arms and legs.”

The demonstrators demanded, among other things, Khalil’s release, as could be seen on livestreams and in images published on social media.

According to media reports, the police ended the unannounced sit-in in the lobby of Trump Tower, a high-rise building in the middle of Manhattan where US President Donald Trump used to have his main residence.

The New York Police Department (NYPD) said that some 150 people dressed in civilian clothes entered the building on Thursday morning and then removed their outer clothing to reveal red t-shirts with pro-Palestinian slogans.

“We ended up making 98 arrests of people trespassing, obstructing governmental administration in this building,” NYPD Chief of Department John Chell said.

US immigration officials forced their way into Khalil’s flat on Sunday and detained him, according to media reports. He was later taken to a detention centre in the US state of Louisiana, which lies some 2,000 kilometres away from New York.

White House spokeswoman Karoline Leavitt told reporters in a briefing that Khalil, a student at Columbia, distributed propaganda for Palestinian militant organization Hamas, claiming that he “sided with terrorists.”

Leavitt also said Khalil organized protest groups that disrupted classes and “harassed Jewish American students and made them feel unsafe.”

The spokeswoman said that US Secretary of State Marco Rubio “reserves the right to revoke the visa of Mahmoud Khalil,” adding that he has a right to do so for “individuals who are adversarial to the foreign policy and national security interests of the USA.”

A court had initially blocked Khalil’s deportation to allow time for a ruling, according to media reports.

Khalil, who, according to the New York Times, is married to a US citizen who is eight months pregnant, has an unlimited US residence permit, his lawyer says.

The Minority in Parliament has called on Vice President Professor Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang to appear before the House on Tuesday, March 18, 2025, to contribute to the debate on the 2025 Budget and Economic Policy scheduled for the same day.

The Member of Parliament for Okaikwei South, Patrick Yaw Boamah, made the request in Parliament on Friday, March 14, 2025.

He emphasised that Prof. Opoku-Agyemang’s extensive experience in the education sector would provide valuable insights in shaping the budget.

“The Business Committee has made allocations for ministers of state, leaving out the Vice President, who has been very quiet. It is important to see her in action on the floor to debate the President’s economic and financial policy, especially given her background as a former Minister of Education.

“I, therefore, urge the Business Committee to amend the Business Paper and allocate time for the Vice President to be present. As the first female Vice President, she is permitted by the Constitution to participate,” he stated.

The request is based on Article 111 of the Constitution, which grants the Vice President the right to take part in parliamentary proceedings.

Government must prioritize domestic revenue over costly borrowing – ISSER Director

Professor Peter Quartey, economist and Executive Director of ISSER Professor Peter Quartey, economist and Executive Director of ISSER

The Director of the Institute of Statistical, Social and Economic Research (ISSER), Professor Peter Quartey, has questioned the urgency behind the government’s move to return to the international capital market.

Speaking with the media in Accra on March 14, 2025, Prof. Quartey emphasised the need for a more pragmatic approach to external borrowing, arguing that accumulating debt is unsustainable.

According to him, Ghana’s deficit financing stood at 3.2% of GDP in 2023, with the 2024 figure projected to rise to 5.2% of GDP.

“I want to sound this caution: borrow less from the capital market and at reasonable interest rates. These days, you hear that we want to go to the capital market. After the restructuring, you hear that we are hoping to finish the process soon and be able to return to the capital market.

“But why the rush? That is where we went before, and now we are facing these problems. Yet, we still want to quickly finish giving people a haircut and return to the capital market. I think we should tread cautiously when it comes to borrowing, especially through Eurobonds and other capital market funds.

“They are too expensive and unsustainable. We ought to shy away from them. Instead, let us focus on mobilizing more multilateral and domestic sources of funding because they are cheaper,” Professor Peter Quartey stated.

‘Didn’t know he was a poet’ – Jose Mourinho hits back at Allan Saint-Maximin

Mourinho shakes hands with Saint-Maximin Mourinho shakes hands with Saint-Maximin

Jose Mourinho has taken another swipe at Allan Saint-Maximin, labeling him a poet.

The two engaged in a war of words on social media after Mourinho dropped the former Newcastle United forward from Fenerbahçe’s Europa League game against Rangers on Thursday, March 13, 2025.

Following his exclusion, Saint-Maximin took to social media, posting, “It will take more than this to defeat me. When a lie takes the elevator, the truth takes the stairs. It takes longer, but it always arrives in the end. If God is with us, who can be against us? Romans 8:31.”

After the game, Mourinho responded to the post, calling Saint-Maximin overweight and sarcastically praising his poetry skills.

“I didn’t know Saint-Maximin was talented in poetry. I’m not bad in that regard, either. When a football player works well, works hard, and trains every day, he is fit and can climb the stairs. He doesn’t need an elevator. However, if a player doesn’t train well, arrives late, is overweight, and is not ready to play, he needs an elevator to go up because he gets tired quickly on the stairs,” Mourinho replied.

Despite winning 2-0 on the night, Fenerbahçe were eliminated after losing 3-2 on penalties, allowing Rangers to advance to the Europa League quarterfinals.
