Nigerian singer-songwriter and actress, Tiwa Savage has revealed that she has no plans to sign upcoming artists.
She stated this in an interview with Forbes Africa on Thursday.
According to her, managing musicians can be incredibly stressful. She doesn’t feel equipped to handle the responsibility, maintaining that artists can be a handful and the pressure of managing them can be overwhelming.
“Everyone always asks me, ‘When will you sign an artiste?’ I don’t think I have the gift to sign another artiste, because artistes are stressful. I could just be sleeping, and then I will wake up and my artist is trending for something else,” she said.
Instead of signing new artists, she wants to create opportunities for them through alternative means.
She is working on establishing a music school where aspiring musicians can hone their craft before potentially signing with a record label that can provide the support they need.
“But I do have the gift to help, which is why I am trying to do the music school, where you can go and later sign to a label that can actually help you,” she added.
Bamise: Court To Rule May 2

A Lagos State High Court sitting in Tafawa Balewa Square, has fixed May 2 to deliver judgment in the rape and murder of 22-year-old Oluwabamise Ayanwola case, brought against a Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) driver, Andrew Nice Omnikoron since 2022.
Justice Sherifat Sonaike fixed the date after the adoption of the final written addresses of the defence and prosecuting counsel.
The defence counsel, Abayomi Omotubora, says the prosecution failed to place material evidence before the court to establish the guilt of the defendant.
Omotubora submitted that on the alleged murder of Ayanwola, in the analysis of evidence from prosecution witnesses 1-9, their testimonies did not indicate the particular act by the defendant to have caused the death of the deceased.
While emphasising that the voice note Bamise reportedly sent to her friend did not also indicate the cause of her death, the counsel says it is a hearsay, because the prosecuting counsel fails to invite the friend who received the voice note.
Referring to the principle of last seen person being relied upon by the prosecution, Omotubora insists that it cannot sustain a conviction, but with circumstantial evidence, noting that prosecutor did not establish anything, rather than mere suspicions and doubtful gestures against the defendant.

Engineer Abubakar Abubakar, a former permanent secretary with the Ministry of Eastern Resources, has been appointed as the new Waziri of Wase Royal House.
His inauguration took place on Friday, despite an ongoing court dispute between the Emir of Wase, Alhaji Muhammad Sambo Haruna, and his former Waziri, Alhaji Muhammadu Badamasi.
The rift between the two traditional titleholders escalated, prompting the emir to file a case at Magistrate Court 7 in Jos.
The charges against the former Waziri include allegedly assaulting the emir and attempting to incite unrest in Wase town-allegations he has denied.
Sources in Wase told Daily Trust that efforts by family members to mediate and resolve the dispute proved unsuccessful.
According to one source, before appointing the new Waziri, the royal family made several attempts to reconcile both parties, but the deposed Waziri remained adamant, insisting he would not serve under the current emir.
