Nollywood actress and queen of the box office, Funke Akindele seems to be enjoying her payback on colleague, Kunle Afolayan.
Kemi Filani reported that Kunle Afolayan, during the premiere of his movie, stated that he is not interested in ₦1 billion or ₦2 billion in cinema earnings if he cannot get at least ₦10 million from them. He also took a swipe at his colleagues for constantly dancing to promote their movies.
Although Afolayan did not mention any filmmaker’s name, his remarks came amid record-breaking box-office performances in the Nigerian film industry. Funke Akindele’s latest project, Behind the Scenes, grossed ₦2.4 billion at the Nigerian box office, while Toyin Abraham’s directorial debut, Oversabi Aunty, has crossed the ₦1 billion mark.
Hitting back at him, Funke made it known that she isn’t the one hindering his progress, as she admonished him not to let jealousy burn him, noting that the sky is so big for everybody to fly.
Following her statement, Funke, via her Instagram page, shared a video of herself dancing as she promoted her highest-grossing movie.

Unlike Kunle, Ini Edo, who competed with Funke and Toyin at the box office, hailed them following their achievement. She stated that her respect for them has increased, noting that their commitment, strategising, marketing, and overall game-playing are on a whole different level.
Similarly, media mogùl, Mo Abudu, had celebrated Funke, Toyin and Ini Edo for their massive pull at the cinema. She described them as phenomenal queens and praised them for creating magic, breaking barriers, and showing the unstoppable strength of women in film.
