Driver Flees After Crushing Four To Death In Ogun

A tragic hit-and-run incident claimed four lives on Monday after a truck reportedly ran over a tricycle around Oke Iganmu, along Papa-Ilaro road in Ogun State.

The tricycle, bearing registration number DED 425 WB, was carrying four passengers—two men and two women—when it was crushed by an unidentified vehicle. All the occupants died on the spot.

Florence Okpe, spokesperson for the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Ogun State Sector Command, confirmed the incident in a statement.

According to her, “The crash involved two vehicles. A Yellow tricycle with registration number DED425WB and an unknown vehicle.”
“It was a hit-and-run case.”

Okpe added that the driver of the truck failed to stop after the crash, which she attributed to reckless driving.

“A total of four passengers (two male adults and two female adults) were involved in the crash. All occupants of the tricycle were killed. The corpses were deposited at the State Hospital Morgue, Ilaro. The suspected causes of the crash were speeding and dangerous driving,” she stated.

Ogun State Sector Commander of the FRSC, Akinwumi Fasakin, extended his condolences to the bereaved families and called on road users to prioritise safety.
