EFCC Nabs 18 Suspected Internet Fraudsters In Ogun

Eighteen individuals suspected of internet fraud have been apprehended by operatives of the Ibadan Zonal Directorate of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) in Ogun State.

The agency revealed in a statement posted on X on Wednesday that the suspects were arrested at Prime Garden Hotel, located in Atun-Iju along Idi-Iroko Road, following credible intelligence linking them to alleged cybercrime activities.

According to the commission, the suspected kingpin among them allegedly defrauded a victim of N200 million.

Items recovered from him include a red Lexus IS 250, a box of jewelry, local and foreign currencies, a U.S. driver’s licence bearing the name Eva Lovia, and a military identification card belonging to one Julian Miguel Arroyo, said to be a U.S. military officer.

Other suspects were found with a vehicle, several laptop computers, and incriminating documents.

“They will be charged to court” once investigations are concluded, the EFCC added.
