He explained that a preliminary investigation showed reckless driving by the truck driver, which led to the crash.

“According to a preliminary police investigation, the crash was caused by impatience and reckless driving on the part of the truck driver who lost control and veered away wildly, crossing the barrier to the other lane,” Akinbiyi said.

He added that three adults — two males and one female — lost their lives in the accident, while the exact number of injured victims was initially unclear.

Officials of the Federal Road Safety Corps reportedly took the injured and deceased victims to a hospital for emergency care.

Confirming the incident in a telephone conversation, the Ogun FRSC Public Education Officer, Florence Okpe, said a total of 23 people were involved.

“Yes, it happened. Twenty-three people were involved, three people died and 13 people were injured. The accident involved four vehicles,” she said.
