Police detectives in Ondo State have arrested three individuals in connection with the death of a sex worker at a brothel in Akure.
The incident occurred in the early hours of Sunday, June 29, 2025, at a brothel located in the Cathedral area under the jurisdiction of ‘A’ Division.
According to sources, a dispute arose between a male customer and the sex worker over the payment of N15,000.

The customer was dissatisfied with the service and demanded a refund after the sex worker complained of sudden weakness during their encounter.
The disagreement quickly escalated into a verbal and physical confrontation. Attempts by the hotel manager to defuse the situation failed.
The source further revealed, “He fled the premises but returned shortly after with a group of miscreants believed to be his associates, intent on forcibly retrieving the money.”

The arrival of the suspect and his group intensified the conflict, prompting the brothel manager to call the police.
A patrol team quickly responded, arresting the suspect and his accomplices while trying to recover the money by force.
Meanwhile, the victim’s health worsened, and she was rushed to a nearby hospital in Lafe before being referred to the police hospital in Akure. Unfortunately, she was declared dead on arrival.
State police spokesperson Ayanlade Olayinka confirmed the arrests on Monday, saying, “Efforts are ongoing to apprehend two others who remain at large. The case has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department for thorough investigation.”
He added, “Her body has been deposited at the State Specialist Hospital morgue for autopsy.”
Olayinka urged the public to remain calm and provide any information that could aid the investigation, assuring that “justice will be served, and the case will be charged to court accordingly.”
