The Ogun State Security Network Agency, popularly known as Amotekun, has dismissed six female recruits for being pregnant during their training at the NYSC Orientation Camp in Sagamu.
The dismissal followed a routine pregnancy test conducted on 125 female recruits, which revealed that six of them were already pregnant before joining the training, which began on Sunday, July 6, and is scheduled to end on July 18, 2025.
Confirming the action on Wednesday, the State Corps Commander, Brig. Gen. Alade Adedigba (rtd), said the decision was taken to safeguard the lives of the recruits and maintain professionalism in the corps.

“We provide intense, rigorous, and demanding training. The physical requirements may pose risks such as threatening the pregnancies or causing avoidable deformities,” Adedigba explained.
He added that the agency had a duty to ensure the recruits were physically and mentally fit for the training, which is designed to produce capable operatives ready to defend the state.
“The difficult but necessary decision is taken in conformity with our usual practice of ensuring a safe and secure environment. It aligns with our broader mission of public safety and health,” he added.
The commander, however, praised the dismissed recruits for their passion to serve and assured them of another opportunity post-childbirth.
“We appreciate their willingness to join our ranks. As they prepare for motherhood, they are welcome to return and reapply during our next recruitment. Their desire to serve is commendable,” Adedigba noted.
The dismissed women are expected to be reinvited once they have safely delivered and are fit for future service.
