Angélique Kidjo, a five-time Grammy Award winner, is set to break new ground as the first African artiste to be awarded a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
Known for her powerful vocals, energetic stage presence, and genre-blending sound, Kidjo will be celebrated in the ‘Recordings’ category, joining a notable lineup that includes Miley Cyrus and The Clark Sisters.
The recognition highlights her decades-long commitment to musical innovation and her efforts in spotlighting African culture on the international stage.

This year’s honorees were selected by the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce’s Walk of Fame selection committee from a pool of hundreds of nominees during a meeting held on June 20. The board of directors later gave its final approval on June 25.
“We are excited to announce the newest selections of 35 esteemed individuals who will be enshrined onto the Walk of Fame,” said Peter Roth, former Warner Bros. Television CEO and chairman of the Walk of Fame selection committee. “These talented individuals have made significant contributions to the world of entertainment, and we are thrilled to honor them with this well-deserved recognition.”
Kidjo will be celebrated as part of the 2026 Walk of Fame class, which features 35 individuals across music, film, television, live performance, and sports entertainment.
