The Federal Government has begun disbursing the new N77,000 monthly allowance to National Youth Service Corps members.
This comes after the NYSC Director General, Brigadier General Olakunle Nafiu, pledged that the new monthly allowance would take effect from March 2025.
The Minister of Youth Development, Ayodele Olawande, guaranteed that the arrears of the new monthly allowance would also be paid.

According to PUNCH Online, many corps members began receiving alerts for the new allowance on Wednesday.
An NYSC member serving in Lagos, known as Chinedu, shared his excitement about the increase, stating: “I just checked my account balance, and I saw N77,000 credited from the Federal Government. This is a huge relief.”
“Yes, corps members have started receiving their new allowance in line with the newly approved minimum wage,” publisher of Corpers Diary (@corpersdiary_ng) an online community for corps members, Jeremiah Olatinwo, also confirmed.
The Federal Government announced a new allowance for NYSC members, also known as corpers, in September 2024, much to the enthusiasm of the youth scheme’s participants.
The government stated that the increase aligns with the National Minimum Wage (Amendment) Act 2024.
The rollout of the new allowance faced multiple delays despite repeated assurances from the government.
