In a scathing response to the first batch of ministerial nominees submitted by President Bola Tinubu to the Senate, former Kaduna Senator Shehu Sani did not hold back.
According to the Vanguard, he referred to some of the nominees as “vultures” and “serpents,” expressing his discontent with their selection.
The list was presented by Femi Gbajabiamila, Tinubu’s Chief of Staff, and read out by Senate President, Senator Godswill Akpabio.
Among the nominees were former governors Nyesom Wike, Nasir el-Rufai, Badaru Abubakar, and Dave Umahi, from Rivers, Kaduna, Jigawa, and Ebonyi, respectively.
The list also included Wale Edun, former Lagos Commissioner of Finance, and Dele Alake, Tinubu’s special adviser on Special Duties, Communications, and Strategy, among others.
Six women were also nominated, Betta Edu, Hannatu Musawa, Doris Anichie Uzoka, Stella Okotete, Uju Kennedy Ohaneye, and Iman Suleiman Ibrahim.
Shehu Sani took to Twitter to express his disappointment, accusing the president of welcoming treacherous serpents and rewarding vultures who had betrayed him in the past. He made no specific references to any names, but his disdain for the choices was palpable.
He ended his tweet by saying, “Appeasing a snake in a palace doesn’t spare the King.” The reference to Judas Iscariot, a disciple of Jesus Christ who betrayed Him, was a clear indication of his strong disapproval of the ministerial nominees and the notion of rewarding betrayal.
